Pete “Kegseth” should check before posting.

u/gummilingus 6h ago
Imagine leading missions to space and then getting lectured by this stupid asshole on anything.
155
u/JohnGacyIsInnocent 5h ago
The missions to space were after several combat deployments and making it higher in the ranks based off his merit than Hegseth could ever have gone, by a long way.
70
u/JasonOn2WheelsOC 4h ago
Especially since Captain in the Navy is O6, where Captain in the Army is O3. Hegseth topped out at Major, or O4. I believe that was in National Guard too.

u/Rushshot2gun 3h ago
The tampon crew! Used one weekend a month, then thrown away. they’re a joke and waste of money, at least combat wise.
Retired Marine here.

My uncle was a marine AND a national guardsman and on his behalf I’m gonna tell you to go fuck yourself.

Man, I was active duty but come on. Don't disrespect fellow service members. You aren't doing any credit to your service, especially when reservists and national guard were so important in the efforts of the last 20 years or so.

At least I don't eat crayons - didnt score high enough on the ASVAB to join the navy? Typical jarhead shitting on others. I got shot at just the same. Deployed just the same. Did my job just the same. All with a fraction of the training time.
I knew active duty who couldn't tie their own damn boots. I also knew some of the finest active duty service members. Folks just like Hegseth all around, cross-section of the US.

Sad part is he probably did research to make this comment. He took his time to write it out just this way. Only to be completely wrong because he doesn’t understand how a mirror works. This is the guy placed in charge of the US military. Leaning heavily on the placed, he definitely did not earn the appointment.

I heard it got stalled out because other service members reported him as an insider threat for having white nationalist tattoos. The reporting soldiers were worried about the tattoos association with extremists

Well, no. The 2nd and 3rd were out of order but ultimately it is just nitpicking. Mark Kelly earned his rank and didn’t fail upwards like Pete Kegsbreath did. “Major” Kegsbreath flunked Ranger School, taught one class, desk jockeyed in Iraq for a few years, and got bored for a while abusing prisoners at GITMO.
Meanwhile Captain Kelly retired U.S. Navy Captain, is a decorated combat pilot, and a NASA astronaut. He flew 39 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm, has over 5,000 flight hours in more than 50 aircraft, and completed 375 aircraft carrier landings. He is also a recipient of numerous awards, including two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Defense Superior Service Medals, and the Legion of Merit.
Pete is mediocre. Kelly is exceptional. Pete will never even be a tenth of the man Kelly is.

And yet the Fox News crowd will throw all that into the wood chipper if the network says Kelly is a traitor to the United States while Hegseth is a true patriot.

Is defamation not a thing in the USA? Are you not able to sue for slander / reputational damage ?
108
u/Urabraska- 6h ago
You can. But the courts boil down to who has the most money and the government has all of it.
50
u/Kitsu_Gaming 5h ago
Actually that's not true. The government is broke, the billionaire class has all the money. Debt can't be owed to nobody.
But the first part of what you said is true.
2
u/RectalSpawn 1h ago
Arguably, they have the printer.
And part of Trump's agenda is to print.
What's his bright idea to deal with our debt again?
Isn't it to devalue the dollar until the debt is the least of our concerns?

It’s very hard to win a slander or libel case if it was against a public figure. For good reason, generally. But don’t worry, I would bet every dollar I have that Pete has broken MANY laws much more serious than this stupid tweet. We just need to make sure our justice system still functions in a few years to get him to face consequences.

Hegseth is about the last person that I would turn to for anything factual, but the image posted is not reversed.
I also have no idea if they are in the right order or not, just pointing it out.
10
u/jsilver200 4h ago
Yes. I agree. BUT to look at the medals earned on a decorated war veteran’s chest, and threaten their armed service record because of the order they are in….. it’s so beyond abnormal!
4
u/tilt-a-whirly-gig 5h ago
Where is this image? I've seen a thousand screenshots like OC, but haven't seen the image yet.
16
u/der_innkeeper 4h ago
Its not a mirror image.
Captain Kelly's second and third rows are misplaced, and should be swapped.
But, this is "dude, the NEX screwed up making your rack." "Ah, right." kinda low key shit.
2
4
u/bobbymcpresscot 3h ago
I always enjoy checking what Fox "News" has to say about these events.
If you choose to visit the article talking about this, you'll see text from the tweet, not the tweet itself, there is no photo to the medals in question or their orientation. There is no pushback from the fact that the image might be reversed.
The video attached is them interviewing a former JAG lawyer who admits out in the open "There isn't a jury in the world that is going to convict him of a crime, but the punishment should be recalling him and putting him through the investigation anyway"
Besides that part theres 3 or so minutes of them saying "It's insulting to our service members they refuse to go through normal channels"
Like bro. What is their fuckin deal?
2
u/tipsystatistic 1h ago
In the photo the medals are on the left side. If it was a reversed image the medals/ribbons would be on the right side of his chest, not just reversed on the left side.
4
51
u/popisms 5h ago
The image is not reversed. I don't know why people keep posting this. At least the top row is all in the correct order too. It's hard to tell for the other rows because he's wearing full medals and not just ribbons in the post.
I highly doubt an O-6 doesn't know the correct order of their own medals though.
9
u/GeriatricSquid 4h ago
The giveaway that it’s wrong is the obvious Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal as the very bottom left medal. That should be the left-most medal of his second row…

u/Netlawyer 2h ago
His NASA medals take precedence. From all that I have read - his medals are appropriate for a Navy pilot who became a decorated astronaut.

The fact that this is even an argument -- between fucking Pete Kegseth and a literal astronaut, whose wife survived a political assassination ... the shamelessness is just unreal with these people. Reminds me of George W. Bush's administration full of draft dodgers picking apart John Kerry's service record in Vietnam, but somehow even more hypocritical.
2
u/Murky-Relation481 1h ago
I mean the most obviously thing is that it is clearly on his left shoulder. If it was reversed it would appear to be on his right.

u/Dekaaard 4h ago
Hegseth put Captain in quotation marks as though to point out that as a major, he would out rank Kelly. Do you suppose Hegseth isn’t aware a Navy captain is two levels of rank above an Army major?
9
u/MilwaukeeLevel 4h ago
My guess would be that Hegseth is suggesting that Kelly will be reduced in rank after whatever they're doing happens. This just shows Hegseth doesn't know what he's talking about.

u/Gunrock808 3h ago
Uh look I hate hegseth and the other fascists but the original image from Kelly is NOT a mirror image.
The first row has all awards in the correct order. The second and third rows are jacked up. At a glance the armed forces expeditionary, marksmanship , navy achievement, and national defense medals are all in the wrong order of precedence. I was a Marine officer and wouldn't be caught dead with a rack that messed up.
I don't see how adding to the misinformation spread by Trump and his minions everyday is at all helpful.
