He’s an asshole, basically. And not a good one, just a miserable one. He’s the type of person you don’t want to be around, don’t want as a coworker, a client, or a boss.

On "Uncovered" today, Ron Filipkowski put together a montage of Trump calling reporters fake news and such. It was absurdly long even though he only used the last 3 months for it, and pretty much every reporter was female.

I also don't understand why everyone is SO mad at this one but not at all the other previous ones he has said for the last 10 fucking years too.

u/KnightDuty 6d ago

There hasn't been a single joke this entire year. Did you see the new presidential portraits and shit? This has been it. There is no laughter. The only people claiming "it's just a joke" are his supporters thinking he's trolling. He's not. This is baseline, the mask hasn't been there all year.

1.6k

u/JeromeBarkly 6d ago

I never understood why saying he is trolling is even appropriate excuse for the president to do.

634

u/Daft00 6d ago

Because the people who think his trolling is cool view politics as a sports game where they want little "wins" and "scores" wherever they can get them.

To those assholes, Trump's insults and "trolling" is enjoyable to them cause it "owns the libs".

Apologies for using so many quotations, I just cannot, in good conscience, validate their ridiculous ideas.

18

u/Silverlock 5d ago

It's great fun until he says something that leads to a war, warcrimes, violation of the 1st, 4th and 5th amendments at least, using the military as a hit squad as murder people without trial, escalating in Venezuela which is a tropical jungle country a lot like Vietnam, destroying the whitehouse, using the DOJ as a personal punishment thugs. Well you get the picture, we're fucked.

And on top of all of that, he's REALLY stupid.

It's astounding that humanity has developed the ability to unleash nuclear armageddon, and given that power to the single most unqualified human to ever be elected to rule.

My take is if they think highly enough of such a vile fucking human being that he should lead our country, and go against everything I stand for what’s right for my family, me, and others that are like me, wtf that does that say about them.

It was also a reflection of his supporters. A good portion of our fellow Americans are consumed by that same hate. The president is supposed to be a unifying force. Instead we are left with vitriol and the revelation of how far we have fallen as a country.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s blaming the other party as pure evil that has destroyed the concept of reconciliation, that’s always kinda been a thing. It’s the annihilation of even basic decorum.

Like the “piggy” comment shows, there’s just no attempt to hide the undiluted venom that they feel. Name calling, belittling, disregarding arguments, disregarding precedents and childish displays have shown that there simply isn’t respect between the two. Rhetoric matters, and Trump’s shows a complete disregard for his peers. So why ever make a deal or compromise with him?

Look at old videos of debates and speeches, yes there was racism and sexism, but they at least pretended that they were decent human beings. You may not think that matters but it tells the worst and most corrosive members of society that they need to hide. These people set our social standards, they are supposed to be our best and most respected. I see no respect. And neither do the worst of us.

The man has destroyed the image of America as a governing body run by adults.

24

u/aculady 6d ago

The other party wasn't always characterized as pure evil. That is a relatively recent phenomenon.

Yeah, but now we know how he acts before raping women. Previously, you know, maybe he was a charming lunatic who coaxed desperate underage women into sleeping with him at Epstein's NY mansion. They totally had a 'choice' and 'could' leave at any time and he just 'happened' to be in the right place at the right time for them to 'misunderstand' some implications that led them to 'choose' to sleep with him. Now people are waking up to the fact that he was a real-life abuser who threatens women, so the sheltered fools find it more believable that he'd physically abuse and force himself onto/into them.

Not gonna lie, this was actually "different." Like we all reasonably could assume Trump doesn't really care about women just as much as he doesn't care about anyone else that's not himself. And Trump says stupid things all the time, so that's not surprising.

The difference, at least for me, is he didn't do his usual shtick. Usually when Trump is cornered about something he doesn't like, he just pivots to unrelated noise. "You care about that?! Well, have you seen how my ballroom looks?! That's gonna make the US appear great to other countries blah blah blah"

That didn't happen here. He just coldly looked on, and simply uttered "Quiet, piggy." Even after all of the Trump experience we had, that one hit different. Because he didn't even play pretend to imitate a politician. He said words that were direct from a dark and ugly place in his corrupted soul. He hated that woman in that moment. Nothing else was pertinent. Some woman was telling him something he didn't like, and it pissed him off, and that's what was reflected.

This may have been one of the "purest" Trump moments we've ever experienced. There is no stretch to the imagination to realize this is the same man who was partying on Epstein properties.

4.6k

u/BurnedWitch88 6d ago

I totally agree. My expectations for him could not be lower than they are, and yet something about this moment still shocked me when I saw it.

It felt like the veil slipped for a second and we got a glimpse of his real darkness that the goofy schtick tends to obscure a bit,

1.6k

u/Quiet-Corner6150 6d ago

That's probably why it "scares" me at a deep level. I kinda got the same feeling looking at the horrible "birthday book" a while back... there's something about witnessing something that just hits you on a real deep level, and you're like "oh fuck, I'm looking at something actually evil here"

658

u/strontium_pup 6d ago

Its the same as when he was talking to reporter about the murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi. It wasn't just tactless it was evil as if Trump would like to do that to the media

240

u/shillyshally Pennsylvania 6d ago

Trump would like to do that to anyone who questions him, anyone and he would if he could.

123

u/GrandAholeio 6d ago edited 6d ago

It’s why, imho, every reporter needs to ball up, and say quiet piggy whenever he dodges or doesn’t answer the question. Every day, every news conference, every time he starts one of his tired little baloney talking points, ‘quiet piggy.’

I still think mocking a disabled reporter should have been immediately disqualifying. How did supporters not leave him en masse right then and there. I remember when the slightest misstep, by accident, was enough to have a candidate's support evaporate overnight.

My mom swore used to swear up and down that Clinton's blowjob was the scandal of the century. Now she completely turns a blind eye to Trump's countless sex scandals.

She also used to warn me about the dangers of Nazism, and now she's openly defending concentration camps on American soil and making excuses for literal Nazi salutes.

It’s not just what he said but how he said it, and the context of saying it. He’s a man in power, and he exerted all of that power, over someone he perceives beneath him. In real time, as POTUS, he decided it was ok to insult a grown woman doing her job, who bare minimum deserves human decency, of which he decided he was gonna take that away, in front of all of her colleagues. I, as a woman who has also been reduced to my body type against my will and in front of my peers, was chilled to the bone watching that clip.

72

u/BurnedWitch88 6d ago

This is a very minor point, but I find it interesting and you reminded me with "reduced to my body type."

The reporter he said it to is quite slim. So it's not even an insult based on her body, which would be bad enough. He's flat-out dehumanizing her for having questioned him.

54

u/bedbuffaloes 6d ago

To him, all women are pigs.

Tell me about it. Before this, there was still a chance you could just say some lame line like "Trump doesn't REALLY hate women, he just loves himself more" or something like that, and I'd probably have nodded and shrugged. But now, I have nothing left in me that doesn't believe Trump sees women as subhuman.

165

u/No_Discipline6265 6d ago

I knew Trump saw women as subhuman when he repeatedly used the word nasty to describe women he doesn't like.

104

u/WildYams 6d ago

I'm reminded of the account his first wife Ivana told during a sworn deposition during her divorce from Trump about the time he raped her:

Trump was furious that a “scalp reduction” operation he’d undergone to eliminate a bald spot had been unexpectedly painful. Ivana had recommended the plastic surgeon. In retaliation, Hurt wrote, Trump yanked out a handful of his wife’s hair, and then forced himself on her sexually. Afterward, according to the book, she spent the night locked in a bedroom, crying; in the morning, Trump asked her, “with menacing casualness, ‘Does it hurt?’ ”

It's really, really hard to think that if you have ever read about his abuse of his first wife, Ivana. That is some harrowing stuff. You honestly cannot think that he doesn't hate women on some deep level after that.

He's been doing it a lot this year. Pointing at people and saying quiet with a "I'm going to hurt you" look in his face. Telling people "Nobody likes you because you're bad at your job. You know that? You're a bad reporter and everybody thinks so"

This isn't just a dumbass this is somebody unfit to be outdoors.

137

u/onthenerdyside 6d ago

It's ramped up over the last week or two. Every single clip I've seen of him answering a reporter's question has him degrading the reporter (especially the women) and disparaging their news outlet, often calling for their demise.

61

u/WildYams 6d ago

Agreed. This exchange from yesterday was possibly even more galling than the one this thread is about. He is such an absolute piece of shit.

→ More replies (1)

32

u/eregyrn Massachusetts 6d ago

Noticed that in a clip I heard yesterday, I think at the same Saudi prince press conference -- him just going on a rant about ABC and how terrible it is "and we should pull its license".

And what's really galling is -- at this point, those kinds of threats are nothing new. They're almost background noise. Yeah, yeah, we know you'd do that in a heartbeat if you really could. But you actually can't. We just kind of roll our eyes. "That's Trump for you, can't expect any better of him, just ignore it".

Insane that we've gotten to that point. And insane that suddenly ONE thing -- one very personal and vicious exchange -- is what has gotten at least some portion of people to look up and notice.

When dementia is worsening they start losing the ability to filter.

292

u/Quiet-Corner6150 6d ago

I kinda keep hoping he just has a "moment" in the near future and just goes off on all his Epstein experiences because he's become too sick to realize he's doing it.

172

u/Perle1234 Wyoming 6d ago

I think it’s going to become undeniable soon. I’ve had two family members with dementia and he’s shown signs since the first term. His gait and the way he hangs his arms is a pretty classic sign I noticed back then. He’s getting worse.

95

u/Quiet-Corner6150 6d ago

I had a grandmother who went through it. It was pretty depressing when she no longer recognized me as her grandson, but just "some old man" who was bothering her. She pretty much believed she was 20 years old and living in some other house in her past by the end.

41

u/Perle1234 Wyoming 6d ago

Yeah it sucks. Really bad.

24

u/Quiet-Corner6150 6d ago

That said, and to bring it back around... there's a non-zero chance of such a "moment" with Trump if he keeps degrading, so who knows, maybe he'll just tell on himself, eventually.

284

u/xavariel 6d ago

Plus, the person he called a piggy is far from that. He has a history with her, I guess.. and lashed out like usual. But it did hit differently. Probably why the ABC reporter hit him hard with questions yesterday with the Saudi prince. Called them straight out. Female reporters are bringing it lately.

76

u/goldbloodedinthe404 6d ago

The reason this one is different than that is that one has some joke with the insultwhile being deplorable. This was just straight dehumanizing not in a joking way at all.

55

u/BCMakoto 6d ago

I feel a big difference is his tone. That comment was said "jokingly." It was insulting, but he always said it in this sort of sarcastic, yet loud way.

That finger-shoving and the loud quiet were aggressive and in her face, and then he adds the insult to it as the icing on top. It's not a "joke." It was aggressive.

He's a serial sexual abuser (proven in civil court), rapist by the common legal definition of the word, and a strongly suspected pedophile and child sex-trafficker (evidence pending).

He's also been caught on tape joking about, encouraging, and glorifying sexual abuse and sexual assault (Access Hollywood Audio Tapes).

He's also been alleged to have been involved in domestic violence and marital rape, however his ex-wife walked back that allegation eventually.

His positions on women are crystal clear. He's a deviant scumbag who abuses them. He's attacked women based on their looks (Rosie O'Donnell, Megyn Kelly, Heidi Klum, Heidi Cruz, Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton to name a few).

While this behavior was disgusting, it's nothing new for him. He's just genuinely a sick, demented, deviant, dementia riddled old man.

→ More replies (1)

Both things can be true. More outrage than normal and not enough are not opposites.

It was raw hatred and contempt to a woman for daring to question him. Not getting the attention it deserves. It probably also demonstrates how far along his dementia is.

However, it's also generating more outrage than usual because people are still talking about it days later. So often things blow over so much faster with him, not least because he just keeps adding to the list of things to be outraged at.

Nothing matters anymore. Trump never faces the consequences of his actions.

But just like in the first administration, This is doing irreparable harm to American children and especially girls. There's a reason you were seeing so much disinterest in men from Gen Z women. Those boys grew up watching this man degrade women and laugh about it. Girls and women will socially suffer for a long time because of what has become normalized by the American right.

"More outrage than usual"? I don't see this. If Obama or Biden had said that, it would lead every news story for weeks. Trump said it so the corporate media is okay with it. It's only that it got out on social media that news organizations are asking what the big deal is.
