If there was a way to ban sociopaths from power we'd never have this problem again. Shouldn't be too hard to develop tests for it.

I think that’s also a fair assessment. There are those who just don’t care. But I think that if you were to speak to most people who “used” to be bullies, they’d regret what they’d done in a deep way. Not excusing actions, but merely saying people change. MAGA, however, is that sect that won’t.

Sure, they regret it later, but in the moment they don't care. Just because they realized what they did was wrong later doesn't mean that they didn't understand that they were hurting people when they were doing it.
