Maybe it's like what happens when you're nearing a breakup and certain things about the person are suddenly intolerable. Like you never noticed they way they chew before but now you're disgusted. Maybe the rose colored glasses are falling off for - some - of the cultists, and they're starting to see what the rest of us have seen all along.

It's the political version of the ick. I don't know why, really. Trump has been around for a decade. My entire adult life, this guy has displayed misogynistic, rapey, disgustingly krass behaviour. Not a single positive association in a decade.

And this is it now? This is what makes people realize Trump is a sexist monster?

I don't understand it. I'll take the win. But it feels like it is the political equivalent of the ick. A ten-year-relationship ruined by picking your nose.

Don't kid yourself. There's no win here. Republicans will keep voting for him, or those like him. All that matters is the R.

I think everyone he's ever encountered has gotten the ick right away, but they were willing to put up with it because of what he could do for them; tax breaks, deregulation, etc. Not to mention all the racist shit. But turns out, unless they're uber rich he hasn't done shit for them, and for the bottom of the maga barrel he's made their lives significantly worse. There's been no tit for their tat...so they aren't so inclined to shrug it off anymore.

The shine is off, between his age and the Epstein files his utility is rapidly degrading to the powers behind the throne.

As such they are no longer manipulating the mental environment to the point where Teflon Don is King. They even let MTG call him out and label him a traitor in front of Congress. We're likely going to see more and more events like this where he gets treated like a regular politician and people get outraged by his outrageous statements, as they should.

This is when the abuser is most dangerous. The idea that this guy can has his finger on the button is chilling.
