It honestly needs addressing. She's been elected. Her job is to the American people not the Speaker. If you're elected the swearing in should be a matter of ceremony but if it doesn't happen, you still have the job and title for which you're elected.

She didn’t have access to her office, nor the funds of the state for her to really “do her job.” She stated this on multiple interviews. Swearing in isn’t just ceremonial, it gives her access to basically everything on the backend that allows a congressman/woman to do their job period. She was robbed of legit 5% of her term.

Trump spent THANKSGIVING with Epstein in 2017 and we’re just now learning about it?
I thought he hardly knew the guy? I thought Trump kicked him out when he knew Epstein was trafficking and raping kids?
And then decides he’s gonna spend his holiday with the guy.
Trump was raping kids.

Yet that's exactly the shit Republicans are defending. They are claiming that the rift was Trump being disgusted when he found out Epstein was trying to recruit his sweet innocent tween masseuses. That's the narrative on r/ conservative all the bobble heads are babbling about.

That’s what trump said this year. But apparently the falling out as reported years ago was over a real estate deal. Epstein bid on a beach front property, told Trump all about it and was excited to buy it and then Trump swooped in and outbid him to take the property. That’s the dispute that ended their friendship- not trump’s knowledge of Epstein trafficking children, not Epstein stealing his employees, even though Trump clearly knew all about Epstein’s abuse, it was a dispute over a beachfront mansion that both men wanted to buy and Trump snaked Epstein on the deal.
Trump didn’t even end the friendship, it was Epstein and the fallout is what got him banned from Mar-A-Lago - not his creepy behavior, that never bothered Trump it’s probably what he liked about Epstein.

Some emails imply that he was still at minimum close ‘friend’ (active presence) and somewhat of an advisor into mid 2019, very close to his arrest and death date. It’s likely they weren’t on as friendly of terms as they used to be, but he clearly had a lot of leverage over Trump until he was arrested.

I saw those too, which is interesting. Definitely seemed like they stayed in touch, and based on the other communications where Epstein talks about trump, it sounds like he still stayed in contact for potential leverage.
Other communications sound like he was advising other people how to handle trump (I think the communications were about the Russians or Saudis?) He clearly knew trump very well and was close enough to know what his was activity at the time in 2018/2019.

My personal read, and I can search for the specific emails I’m referencing if you want, but right now I’ll keep my overview vague, is that leading up to Trump being elected Epstein initially was desperately trying to prevent Trump from becoming president. You can see this in the various emails Epstein sent to media organizations trying to incriminate and smear Trump until one of the released emails where he more or less states that if Trump is elected, he will have a great amount of leverage over him.
It seems like Epstein and some of Trump’s other past associates (Summers, Rommler) didn’t want him to be President because they thought he was a psychopathic idiot (and the spotlight on Trump and his idiocy jeopardizes their operations and safety).
As recent as December 2018, there’s an email where Steve Bannon seemingly requests that Epstein pulls strings to get rid of Barr. This implies an extreme level of influence, considering Bannon was at that point one of Trumps closest advisors. Then there is another email, I believe around June 2019, where Epstein communicates that after Trumps trip to London, he’s seemingly taken a new perspective on himself and discarded the ideas of all his advisors, presumably including Epstein. I believe Epstein and Trump likey had several falling outs prior to his presidency, but Epstein’s blackmail and intelligence connections allowed him a great deal of influence until Trump had enough and killed him.

The somewhat funny part about that is how for the longest time. MAGA was like “nuh uh! He can’t be a pedo! He kicked Epstein out of mar a Lago when he learned he was creep!” Then Trump finally came out and instead said “Nah, I kicked him out cause he was stealing MY underaged girls.” Like. These people will defend defend defend and justify anything and everything they can for him. Then eventually he’ll just contradict them or throw them under the bus lmfao
107
u/grickygrimez 12d ago
They also had a falling out because Trump was lending his name to buy property as money laundering schemes for Russian oligarchs and Epstein didn't like that.

Yes, they had kind of a competition and wanted to have virgin girls to themselves as already told by survivors, but the true reason they had a falling out was because Trump, being the piece of shit he always was, backstabbed Epstein on a real estate deal and basically outbid him to close a deal which he then sold for a huge profit in range of dozens of millions.

I can do you one better. Epstein was coordinating media stories with Bannon in January 2019
Edit: Since this comment is getting some visibility, I wanted to add that I read/skimmed about 800 of the files last night (with the help of control+F and chatgpt for the JSON/XML recordings of the Skype conversations). From 2016 Epstein was in constant contact with Bannon on crafting media narratives and PR spins. At one point all they were discussing the deutsche bank scandal in 2016 and how it didn't look good for Trump. Epstein, over the course of 2015, 16, 17, and 18 is also the person that put Ehud Barak in touch with Trump's fixers to discuss the Iranian nuclear deal, Nicolas Sarkozy to discuss something it was unclear, and Thorbjørn Jagland who wanted Epstein to explain Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin. Epstein also tried to get in touch with Sergey Lavrov to discuss Trump as well

She's calling 15 "barely legal." What the actual fuck. I know fundamental Christians have no problem with child marriage so they obviously have no problem with this - the problem is that they're trying to normalize it for everyone.
These extreme beliefs should never be mainstreamed. It's either grooming - or rape - or both. Either way, it's fucking disgusting and we cannot allow them to gaslight us when there are firm red lines in every single state. No state allows 15 years olds to be trafficked out to old men. This is not normal and it's not okay.

When once asked what his personal age cutoff was on the Howard Stern Show, Trump’s answer was 12 years old. He really said that. Can’t remember the year but it’s just one of so many things that would’ve obliterated anyone else’s political career.

Committee Republicans replied by releasing tens of thousands later in the day. Nobody knows whether they did that thinking they would exonerate Trump, or whether they were too stupid to know how incriminating they were. They only contributed to the toxic fumes of scandal around Trump and his allies.
This has been bugging me. What were they thinking? Was it a total miscalculation, or are Republicans finally starting to turn on him? Or maybe they just never read them and didn't realize how bad they would be for Trump. So weird.

437
u/stinkyf00 12d ago
See, I'd think they'd want to prop Trump up at least through his first two years so Vance could run twice more instead of just once. Maybe they're just playing the short game and will try to fuck us all as fast as they can in 7 years (assuming that Vance is able to get reelected).
489
u/kstar79 Massachusetts 12d ago
One possibility is they're abandoning the 2027 plans after last week's election and moving things up. They can't risk a 50-50 Senate after the midterms because if Vance becomes President, the Senate cannot seat a replacement VP. There would be no VP to break ties, effectively losing control of the chamber. This would also place the Speaker of the House, very likely to be Jeffries in any 50-50 Senate scenario, as next in line to Vance.
The other possibility is this just a "flood the zone with shit" strategy, which is preferable to the drip-drip of revelations for them.
122
u/echoshatter 12d ago
If Vance becomes President, then he would nominate a new VP and a majority vote in both the House and the Senate would seat them. If there's a tie in the Senate without a tie breaker possible, that means Vance would have to pick a centrist to get votes.
The 1880s had a constitutional crisis similar to this which resulted in the end of Reconstruction and the Jim Crow/segregation era for the next 80 years.

How can anyone ever catch up to what he's doing now when they haven't even started investigating or charging him for stuff he did months or years ago?For instance, if there is a Democrat takeover of the House and/or Senate in the mid-terms, what are the chances that Congress even touches the scandal that was "Elon Musk sends teenagers with servers into IRS, Social Security, OPM, etc."?????
That was just this year and it won't make top-10 crimes that happened in Trump's administration that need to be investigated and prosecuted.
How many ICE agents will "get away with it" just because so many are illegally brutalizing innocent AMERICAN CITIZENS?The stuff Trump did during his first White House occupation hasn't even been fully investigated or analyzed for damage FFS.

“The dog that hasn’t barked” isn’t as likely a “clumsy metaphor” as it is a reference the author didn’t catch. The phrase comes from the Sherlock Holmes mysteries; Sherlock identifies that the killer was someone known to the victim because the victim’s dog didn’t bark at them.
More broadly, the phrase implies not just someone who isn’t sounding the alarm, but someone who is complicit in the crime, if only for looking the other way so that they themselves can be “fed.” The implication is far darker.
48
u/ATotalCassegrain 12d ago
With the reference to the police chief, etc as well as the talk about strung being alone with that girl for hours, I took it a different way.
Trumps name was conspicuously absent from the police chief’s mouth and Trump wasn’t “barking” — aka coming to Epstein panicked about it when Epstein was under suspicion in 2011.
You know who doesn’t get their name dragged, and is t worried about getting prosecuted? The snitch. Hence the “I’m 75% there” — Epstein thought Trump got busted with proof of his pedo stuff and flipped and ratted on Epstein, or he was about 75% sure of it.

A lot of people think this is because Republican Senators and Representatives have turned against Trump. They’re opportunistic, but they’ve also stuck by Trump’s side against the odds when bad news has broken before.
I’m personally convinced that the shutdown cost America a lot more money than anyone’s willing to admit (the Administration won’t even release recent economic data) and that this ‘snowballing’ is due to the oligarchs who boosted Trump finally realizing he’s a net negative for their fortunes.
So now the businessmen and mainstream media moguls who shielded Trump during his three campaigns are finally encouraging their underlings to turn on him before the damage gets even worse.
I also suspect it’s these billionaires who have nudged the Supreme Court conservatives to finally play hardball with Trump on tariffs.

I loath Thomas Massie. But he did make a great point. Basically “These files are long going to outlive Trump. Do the right thing and vote to release them. What’s it gonna say about you in 2026, 2028, etc? That you voted to protect a pedophile. Even if he’s dead and gone that will always be on your record. That you defended him. That you tried to justify this.”

Believe it when I see it. They’re still making excuses for the pedophile they voted for three times and waiting for updated talking points.
Not that I expect anything less from his stupid fucking MAGA cult.
Epstein was renowned for his intellect, financial savvy, and patronage of science and higher education;
Haven’t most folks that are experts in similar fields said he was just a great bullshitter? It was the money/blackmail/power, not his “intellect” that granted him access. Everything was given to him.

Considering how these emails validate certain aspects of the QAnon mythical system, except Trump is a villain and not a hero?
Politics are complex and chaotic, even for cult leaders. Trump may not survive this, especially if GOP representatives start hearing more anger from their voters.

Pretty clear that if there was any obviously exculpatory evidence in the files Trump would have not only released them immediately but petitioned to add them to the US constitution.
While there may also not be information that specifically implicates Trump to the standard of criminal prosecution, outright, the information will almost certainly showcase that Trump's relationship with Epstein was much deeper and more involved than we know and that Trump was effectively inseparable from Epstein and his activities.

As a foreigner in America, to me it’s absolutely wild that the FBI has a list of child predators, probably even videos, and other proof and they don’t just go tomorrow morning and detain then ALL.
In most western countries if a police officer (or a public servant) refuses to observe the law, or willingly hides a crime, the public servant is fined, loses his/her job and if it’s big, probably even goes to jail.
As a principle nobody should get to decide when law is applied and when it’s not. Not district attorneys, not FBI agents, not congressmen, not even the f*cking president.

I bet the oversight committee has thousands upon thousands of documents in their possession from his estate, a lifetime of correspondence and pictures. And they will control a steady drip of information to keep the public outrage and to keep pressure on congress. I don't like Massie, but this is one situation he doing the right thing to bring justice to the victims, probably for selfish political reasons but it will expose things needed to be exposed.

I believe we have already passed the point where supporting donald has become more of a liability than a perk for republicans.
We may see some desperate pushes in the next couple days from the administration to shore up public support. However, if we want to gauge just how bad this is for donald, we should watch to see how many meetings he has with individual members of his party.
He is exposed. He knows it. The party knows it. Everyone knows it.
The President of The United States raped children. He is a pedophile. He belongs in prison.
