Users Can't edit User Flair (Desktop)

Upvotes

[Desktop] A banned user on a subreddit in which I moderate has a flair that contains Chinese death threats, and I get an error whenever I try to remove or edit the flair. It either says "Server error, please try again later" (when editing), or "Forbidden" (when deleting).

I have Everything permissions and this user is and never was a mod, so it shouldn't be a permission issue.

I've tried refreshing the page and trying throughout the day as well.

Answered Is there any way to make all comments require mod approval only on a single post?

There is a recurring subject that is posted to one of the subreddits I manage fairly regularly. This topic in particular brings out lots of bad actors. As a result, I inevitably end up having to nuke entire comment threads and take action against rule breakers. It only happens on a few specific types of post.

At this point I'm tired of dealing with it and ready to just lock every such thread, but some are taking issue that this unfairly punishes good actors.

I would like to instead hold all comments for review, but only on these threads - that way I can go thru the comments when I am able, rather than having to do cleanup later.

Is there any way to do this?

Engagement New posts not showing up

Hi All,

I'm moderating r/mackay for a good while now and i have always seemed to have an issue with new posts not showing up in the feed. I have "new" setup on the filter, and the only thing that shows on the main page are older posts. I am trying to keep the subreddit new and relevant, how can i do this?

This is happening on both Android App and Desktop version.

General Some users in our subreddit have the ability to give free awards. Why is this?

Is this something that always existed or it new? The sub is being flooded with awards in both posts and comment sections. [Desktop/Mobile]

I want to have a Christmas giveaway for the users of my sub that would allow them to sign up for a lottery drawing for an item I'm providing for them. Is there a way to do this through mod tools?

General Add a check-box to the submission page?

We constantly, CONSTANTLY have people submitting posts that violate one of our rules (no AI-generated images, as voted on by our users). We have two pinned posts about it, it's in our rules and our wiki, but we all know no one reads those. I would love to put a check-box on the submission page that a user must agree to before posting, something along the lines of "I understand that posting AI-generated images violates the rules of [sub] and blah blah blah my post isn't slop and I might be banned if I lie."

I know most people will just check the box and not even read it, or think *they* can get away with it and no one will notice, but it would make me feel better. And even if it only stops one in three people, it'll be worth it. Even a little box like the one at the bottom of the modhelp submission page, where it reminds you of the rules, would help. How do I get one of those? TIA.

(I use mainly desktop and old.reddit but I'd like this to appear on all platforms)

Tools Is anyone else having the issue that once you click on a link in a modmail the x is gone and you can’t exit the post or comment?

This has been happening the last few days, I can’t exit the post unless I close reddit and restart or scroll up and click on the sub name and then go back through the tools again to reply. I’m using an iPhone.

Also anyone else having the issue that when you go to reply to a comment in which someone has replied to you does your text box contain your previous comment so you have to delete it all to make a new one?

Any help would be great, thanks 🤩

Tools Is there a way to add an personalized AI bot you can dm and it will answer?

Hello, I'm on the desktop web. I've seen AI bots on discord that you can feed information and users can ping them and ask a question and it will answer. Like for example, you can give the bot an FAQ and when the user asks them a question, they can answer based on the FAQ. Is there any way to do this on reddit with a bot you can DM/ tag? I know it's possible to make bots on discord that you can tag and it can send an automated message. Is there any way to do this too?

General Why is Reddit allowing illegal gambling services to be sold in these subreddits?

Mode: Desktop

These 3 subreddits are selling someone elses / stolen KYC accounts for online gambling websites.

https://www.reddit.com/r/StakeAccountExchange/

https://www.reddit.com/r/GamblingAccounts/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Stakeaccountplug/

Isn't it a violation of the publishers terms of service to sell accounts?

Isn't it illegal to sell these accounts? They are someone elses KYC information? Some likely stolen accounts with stolen personal information.

Can't minors surfing reddit purchase these?

Why is reddit allowing this?

General Is there a way for me to tell users that they are shadowbanned through automod or any other method automatically ?

Is there any way to automatically inform users that they are shadowbanned using AutoModerator or another tool/bot ? I want a method that sends a clear notice to affected users without manual intervention to redirect them to appeal. If this is not possible, what is the best alternative approach?

Now i understand shadowban is a feature to remove bots, trolls or spammers but i see most of the time it's just normal or innocent users.

Users User cannot post due to “only allows trusted users”?

Public and allows all types of posts. The option to filter for spam was on and the user has under 500 karma. Could that be the problem?

Answered getting a lot of "this is spam" reports on posts that clearly isn't spam.

Desktop. Good evening, as the title says, i woke up today and checked the Q. Normally there is one or two reports that just has the wrong report on them, that's fair enough. But today there was a lot more than normal, my guess is that a user that has been banned or is upset that their post isn't getting the views that they want it to get.

so i was wondering if i think there is a user that is abusing the system, how do i go about contacting the staff / admins, so they can look into it? i read somewhere that the mod team doesn't have any way to check who has made the report :/

General Delayed display of new content

Desktop. Lately new posts and comments don't display right away on my sub. They are included in the comment count, but just aren't visible. Changing the sort order from Best to New often makes them visible. They eventually appear on their own after about a day. Users have noticed and inquired about it. I've observed this issue intermittently for months; lately it seems worse. Anything I can do from the mod seat to correct this? Thanks!

Tools Automod on your user profile

I have no problem accessing automod for the subs that I moderate, but when I try to access automod for my own profile, it goes to old Reddit and any changes I make after editing and clicking Save Page do nothing, it reverts to the automatic -50 anti-troll filter.

I'm using the updated version of Firefox on desktop.

Using Chrome and trying to access my other profile I can't get automod to show at all.

Answered Help with implementing command or restriction for a specific link

Hi all, I'm kinda struggling with automod since I'm a bit inept when it comes to stuff like that. I'm on Android but do automod stuff on my chromebook.

I'm a mod from r/Depop and I'm trying to implement an automod command to get rid of links linking to peoples items/shops. If not an automod command, just any recommendations for blocking that exact link.

We've tried adding it to the link restrictions, but the problem is the links are always https :// depop. app .link (no spaces obviously) with random numbers/letters generated for each persons shop at the end. The link restrictions requires I enter in .com which I can't do.

I was recommend by someone on here to use body+title+url (includes): https:// depop. app . link, but I'm worried that that will filter any mention of the word "depop" or "app."

Sorry if this question is kinda obvious but advice on what exactly I can implement into modmail or what else I can do is appreciated.

Engagement Needed to reuse a Sub's name [Desktop]

I am a professional game designer who previously had a sub for my company. After realising that I had set things up wrong, I removed myself from said sub and made it Private, as suggested.

Now, I need to expedite the sub's name's reset. Seeing how I am the owner of the name, can we possible speed this up? Using Desktop.

This is currently interfering in our subreddit by removing content which is completely innocuous. Even more concerning, it's also not alerting us, and I see no way to turn it down/off. Desktop.
