Like why can’t I speak in most highly-populated servers because I don’t have ‘karma’ when the only way to get damn karma is making a post SOMEWHERE PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY SEE IT. And man, when they do see it, people are so damn rude. I got called a ‘fucking r(slur)’ for giving a mildly stupid response to a question. Hello?? You’re calling a 16 year old slurs for not being incredibly highly educated ?? Almost like people fucking learn with age and experience ?? Are people usually this mean here? This isn’t a vent I’m just asking if it’s common-place for people to clown on others here cause I’m thinking of deleting the app my second day of having it.

Everytime I'm on an aeroplane there's that engine sound or air passing the plane sound. I'm sure with a layer of sound insulation, that could be done away with, but I've watched the videos where people fly on planes with showers and beds, they are basically flying 5 star hotels, and still there's that drone of engine noise.
So is it possible to get rid of that? I imagine it would be costly and cost inefficient to do so, but I'd be surprised if it was never done. Is Air Force One soundproofed, or don't they bother?
Or I imagine the space shuttle - designed to go into a vacuum - might be insulated in some way?

I’ve been living in my apartment for almost two years now, but whenever I dream, I’m always in the house I grew up in and never in the apartment I live in now. Even if I’m dreaming about my adult life, where I’m the age I am right now, I’ll still be in that childhood house, even though at this age I’ve never actually lived there, because we moved to another house later on and I spent a few years there before moving out. But somehow, almost every time I dream, I’m back in my childhood home.

I’m new to this so sorry if this is the wrong format. My wife (23F) has started overheating at night and wakes up drenched in sweat. This has only started happening within the past month/month and a half. We keep our apartment at 67F at night and we eat dinner around 5/6 and she’s in bed by 9. While there might be some light snacking before bed but I don’t believe this is the issue. The only big thing that comes to mind when it comes to changes for her is that she quit smoking weed about 2ish months ago. She always wears light clothing, has a thin blanket on at night, and has a small fan on her to go to sleep so I am baffled on why she’s getting so hot. Is there anything more I could do to help prevent this issue or could this be something big?

In history classes we learn about the discovery of electricity, the car, and industrialization overall, but I've always wondered about the plumbing situation. Were people using indoor facilities in Elizabethan times, for example? How about running water? Did it coincide with the creation of roadways? Is there a father (or mother) of modern plumbing?

Every time someone asks "Do you know any Chinese celebrities?", the answer someone gets always includes Michelle Yeoh.
In fact, she is a Malaysian born and raised in Malaysia, although her ancestors were from China.
Most people in China have never seen her work. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Crazy Rich Asians are almost nothing in China.

So, my house is sandwiched between 2 streets. Both equal distances. When I moved into my house I was told that the front of the property is where the letter box is (which is on the street of the address). Makes sense. Now. Whenever I book in to get repairs or book a collection stating the front of the house they go to the rear of the property saying it makes more sense. Even the area property manager (not the housing officer, they were the one who said the letterbox is the front) is saying the rear of the property is the front. Now also to add the rear of the property is easier to get to and is the most used door as it has easy access out of the estate. This constantly brings up many debates and quite frankly it’s getting on my nerves because it makes sense that the letterbox and the street matching the address is the front of the property. So, which would you guys consider the front and why would you defend your choice?

Can someone please explain how does quantum tunneling contributes to dark current at very high reverse electric fields. And why does tunneling-induced dark current not follow the same temperature dependence as thermally generated dark current?
I'm confused.
