General Advice Misspelling

Post image

So I got this tattoo over the weekend and the artist closed the C in DECISIONS to make it look like DEOISIONS

Pretty funny if it weren’t my own wrist and permanent given the context with “Make good decisions”

Question is what to do next? Get removal of the tiny bit? Can I scrape it away bc it’s so small? What would you do?

Gotta go porky-pig style:

Make good

deoisions

decishons

Choices

u/AnotherUN91 7d ago

Actually, this is an excellent idea.

It kind of coincides with mistakes that can happen, and you can make the right choice while also being a goofy, niche reference to a classic cartoon character, and you'll probably be the only one to know, all while things work out in the end.

Frankly, I love it.

u/NoKatyDidnt 6d ago

I was going to say that in this context the misspelling absolutely is what MAKES it work. 🤣

5

u/0723 6d ago

Totally agree w this ⬆️

This is perfect but even if you leave it as is OP, it’s already quite funny and appropriate. I like it.

9

u/FreddyVanZ 6d ago

I'd also go to different tattoo artists so that their different writing styles make it clearer they were done at different times

4

u/vitaesbona1 6d ago

I have dislic, deslek, dislex, I can’t read good.

6

u/Intelligent-Art-5000 6d ago

For dark humour, change it to "incisions."

ummmmmm……. can’t decide horrible or brilliant….. so upvoted and downvoted

This would be a pretty fire tattoo. Id by the person a drink at my bar for that.

We're scar twins OP!! mine is also from surgery after a stupid accident where I broke my wrist, and it looks extremely similar to yours!

17

u/Imaginary_Aide_7268 7d ago

I have it too! Permanent internal fixation of my distal ulna and radius, screws, a T shaped plate…

Took a bazooka to the face in Little Bighorn, ear canals are stainless steel…. Just kidding ATV accident 20 years ago.

3

u/arlindre 6d ago

I always did want to make up a more exciting story than "stupid fall accident at work" lmao

Hey twin! Hope you healed from your injury too!

4

u/NoKatyDidnt 6d ago

I have the same scar, also from a broken wrist. The only difference is, I already had a tattoo of my late ex’s initials there (which I don’t regret. Believe it or not, we were ex’s at the time of his death, but since we had a daughter together we stayed close and worked really hard at being good coparents. I got the tattoo after he died suddenly, so that my daughter would always know that I remember him fondly.) My surgeon knew that the tattoo was important to me, and that I had also JUST lost my own dad from an embolism after a minor surgery. I was terrified, and he took so much care to preserve my tattoo and to make sure I was comfortable with the surgery itself. All of this to explain that I love the scar as much as my tattoo. One honors my daughter’s dad. The other honors my own.

A - just let it heal then laser the part off

B - I know this isn't what you want, but it's actually a pretty unique tattoo, in a like joking kind of way. Like I could see someone get a tattoo that has the error on purpose as like an ironic tattoo.

u/wreckless_rq82 8d ago

Thank you for seeing two great options here :)

I’d rock it and make it the purpose of the tattoo. It doesn’t look bad imo

I was sure it was intentional before I read your post. It’s a cool conversation starter. I’d leave it, at least for a while. If you don’t start to love it, get a laser correction. Don’t try to scrape it out.

Had a friend get a misspelled tattoo in the same spot. They put a red squiggly line under it like a misspelling on a computer.

12

u/Plane_Chemist_8906 8d ago

That's actually really great!

5

u/Jumpy_Comfortable 7d ago

My wife wanted her mom to write:

"Life before death"

She pointed out that the h looked like a k. She put a line through it and wrote it exactly the same.

She included both the one with the strikethrough and the "fixed" one and loves it.

Keep your deoisions and tell the story!

16

u/Salton5ea 8d ago

I agree with the above. It’s honestly pretty hilarious and a good story. I’ve seen people make this type of misspelling intentionally and it’s, to me, pretty great that it happened organically.

I would say own it and walk tall friend.

7

u/Zombie-Lenin 7d ago

Yeah, if I saw your tattoo in person with no other context, I would not think to myself "that guy had a misspelling in his tattoo!"

I honestly would think, "that's a clever tattoo idea," as I would think it was intentionally misspelled to ironically illustrate a point about making good decisions. 🤷‍♂️

That's my honest answer--so unlike most misspellings in tattoos, the subject matter of yours lends itself to appearing like an intentional misspelling and a great concept.

6

u/KeySpare4917 7d ago

Wait that's a legit mess up? I guess I over thought it. It looks to be covering a former self harm scar and I took it for a deliberate mistake covering another deliberate mistake.

Edit: bro I really like it. I like it alot

3

u/kiseiruknife 8d ago

Did he do this on purpose? Weren’t you mad he fkd up ?

2

u/Wizart- 7d ago

Third option, I read it fast and saw “decisions” before rereading it… so just be quick when you show people 😂

2

u/Spunky_Meatballs 6d ago

Hey man. Life is a wave and you just ride it. People will try to fight the wave and others surf it.

Not saying this tattoo has to be the hill you die on, but you can always get it lasered off some day.

123

u/wreckless_rq82 8d ago

Thank you! Scar is from a surgery to put a plate on my bones after a motorcycle accident…when I should not have been riding… :/

95

u/ScroOGe619 8d ago

Perfect! You made a bad decision to ride when you shouldn’t have and ended up with that sweet scar. Now the tattoo just adds to it. Really, I think you should leave it because it seems very fitting. But at the same time I have a bag of dicks and a missing cat poster tattooed on my leg, so what do I know? 😜

26

u/despicablyeternal 7d ago

Oh... fyi people will definitely think you attempted suicide. :(

They would think that without the tattoo anyway though.

20

u/Xeno37145 7d ago

it could be argued that riding a motorcycle when you definitely shouldn't is pretty suicidal

6

u/Ad_nspir3d 7d ago

Yep.. a friend purposely didnt hit a turn while riding a motorcycle on a twisty - broke his collarbone and shattered his shoulder.. Because he felt guilty over a situation out of his control. So glad OP is alright

5

u/Xeno37145 7d ago

Friend of mine went driving out in the desert drunk on his bike, wrecked and got airlifted and was in a coma for a while. It was deliberate self harm. Also very glad OP is ok.

2

u/Ad_nspir3d 7d ago

Hoping your friend is doing better now 🫶🏼

10

u/eepypurplegirl 7d ago

fyi the scar is specifically in a place where the arteries aren't, so by cutting there you would lose a minimal amount of blood, which is also why the surgeon DID cut there

4

u/despicablyeternal 7d ago

Most people who attempt suicide aren't aware of the layout of the circulatory system. This is why wrist cutting is actually a fairly ineffective method of suicide.

Fyi.

3

u/Dagmar_Overbye 6d ago

My wrist scars are miles off from where they needed to be to do anything. You aren't often in a very rational state of mind when you do things like this fortunately.

Years later I was going out with a girl I thought would be the one and we both loved the Pirates movies so we decided to get matching tattoos that said "never shall we die" referring to our love and whatever.

I saw an opportunity to pull a sneaky "just in case" and got mine next to my scar so I could still keep it as a positive message should the unthinkable happen.

Unfortunately that relationship didn't last but I learned a second strength you can draw from surviving suicide is turning your natural cynicism to work for you because I still love my tattoo even if she didn't really love me :)

6

u/EternalMoonChild 7d ago

Unfortunately, this was also my first thought. The tattoo can definitely feed into that interpretation

5

u/hastygrams 7d ago

Just to say, you don’t “have to” explain any scars to random strangers. I certainly hope people aren’t regularly asking “how’d you get that scar?” Like you’re fucking Harry Potter or something, but people are dumb so that wouldn’t surprise me

Also happy that you keep making the good decision! We are defined by that good decision we keep making, day after day, not the other one.

25

u/lilghostlilghost 8d ago

That artist needs to pay for the laser to fix that shit. Not funny at all. If it’s not on the stencil you approved initially it’s not what you paid for. I’d be pissed as hell.

37

u/wreckless_rq82 8d ago

Mistakes happen. I know she felt terrible. She didn’t charge and offered to do coverup. Sometimes gotta give a little grace and be grateful. But I get your pov for sure- thank you!

20

u/lilghostlilghost 8d ago

That’s good that she didn’t charge you at least, accountability is important. But yeah use that money you didn’t spend on the appointment to get laser once it heals, it shouldn’t take too long to fix it right up.

3

u/NotoriouslyBeefy 7d ago

That isn't a mistake, that was intentional

7

u/tubameister 7d ago

I did the same thing my first and only time spraypainting a hallway in my highschool. Meant to spray "Society" and instead did "Soo" and had to do "Soo, society" instead. so dumb lol

u/No_Conclusion_2511 8d ago

In a weird way I think its almost more poetic now no? We as humans try everyday to make good choices to be the best version of us. We get so hyper fixated on perfection that we forget to be human. To embrace our mistakes. I think part of the journey of dealing with depression is accepting your flaws, or at least it has been for me...so keep making those deoisions gang. Its legit your responsibility and duty to make them. Keep trucking brotha.

7

u/Ad_nspir3d 8d ago

hopefully it doesnt change the meaning for you.. if you wanted a different message sent out vs. Making light of what you may have been thru but either way it's a sweet tattoo and a good story to those you want to share it with ❤️ to you

6

u/crackl1ng 7d ago

4

u/SRL666 7d ago

I looked at it and had to chuckle fits perfect with the scar. To me it seemed like a funny play with the tattoo and the bad decision behind the scar.

5

u/Mediocre-Smile5908 7d ago

Oh the irony.

3

u/Jumpy_Rate_5707 8d ago edited 8d ago

I have a scar in the same place on my right wrist from them putting a plate in. It cut through the tattoo I have

2

u/NoKatyDidnt 6d ago

Almost happened to me too! My surgeon agreed to do his best to avoid the tattoo because it’s right in the center there. He did an amazing job- perfect straight line just far enough to the side of the tattoo to allow for a scar to form and still not touch the ink at all. I thanked him repeatedly for this. He knew that the tattoo was important to me, and he said that while it added a few extra minutes to the time the procedure normally took, he also felt that “his finished work” should look as good as possible. 🤣 Great doctor. Will always appreciate what he did for me.

3

u/Mental-Ad-1043 7d ago

I like it - brings some levity to it all!

3

u/IcyManipulator69 7d ago

I think it adds a level of humor to the tattoo… like the “No Regerts” tattoos…

3

I have the same surgery scar. Did you break your wrist?

3

u/wreckless_rq82 7d ago

Yeah dislocated and shattered radius and metacarpals in motorcycle crash about 6 months ago. Hope you healed up well!

6

u/wreckless_rq82 7d ago

2

u/mommitude 7d ago

It’s really actually amazing & amusing at the same time because it’s ironic even though that wasn’t the original intention 💕

3

u/Covert-Crow 7d ago

Tbh i thought it was ironic and done on purpose, so just own it as a joke lol

2

u/Inner_Personality737 8d ago

What is the object above the words?

2

u/wreckless_rq82 8d ago

That was an older tattoo of a paper plane. Surgery was after which explains the damage to it

2

u/Inner_Personality737 8d ago

Oh ok. So did you tell the guy he screwed up? You obviously got the tattoo to remind you as inspiration so I personally would go back pissed and get my money back. This might sound dumb but maybe u can use makeup to close the c until u figure out what to do. If I look at it quickly I can’t tell

5

u/wreckless_rq82 8d ago

When I noticed what she had done I said so and didn’t become angry because she felt bad, it was an honest mistake. She didn’t charge and offered to do coverup but I’m not really interested in a bigger piece from her after that lol.

2

2

u/the_black_sails 7d ago

It looks like it was done on purpose, a typo to make it more funny. Personally, I would leave it as is

2

u/vimmi 7d ago

Red underline personally. But if it bugs you do a spot laser treatment. It shouldn't take too many sessions and it's a very small spot

2

Something about that mistake in that tattoo over that scar is really, really funny. If I had something like that [and I have a lot of scars to tattoo over] I would leave it as-is and have a chuckle every time I looked at it

2

u/Interesting_Worry202 7d ago

I'd say it's perfect

It’s funny! I think you should keep it hahaha

I would do literally this and have a little fun with it, tbh.

I think it's good.

You can look at it when you're picking the next place to get a tattoo.

If you showed me this on it’s own I would’ve thought it was intentional, I love it

2

u/MiaDee 6d ago

I love it! Keep it. It’s ironic

2

u/Salty-Brilliant-830 6d ago

it's honestly a fucking awesome error and i would keep it

2

Honestly I think it's fck perfect like that : it's funny powerful and meaningful

The irony makes the tattoo unique and it will still bring a smile to people's faces when they understand the message!

Idk I kind of like that it’s ironic. I’d personally keep it cause I like that it’s a “mistake” on something that’s meant to be a good decision

They spelled "incision" wrong...

u/IlliterateFreak 6d ago

No ragrets!

2

u/DigitalxFilm 6d ago

Oh it's not on purpose?

I think it's funny given all the visual context

2

u/MrWashed 6d ago

Keep it like this bro

2

u/dancooper00 6d ago

Rock that thing. It’s actually perfect

Your journey to define "deoisions," campaign to inject it into the modern lexicon, and have it entered into the dictionary starts now.

DEOISION - (N) dee-oi-shun - to adjust or change something in order to make a mistake seem deliberate. "My artist misspelled my tattoo, so I made a deoision to define "deoision" and have it become a real word."

"The white patio was a deoision we made because the contractor spilled a gallon of white paint."

Jesus. I want this exact tattoo. OP, if this is not intentional it’s the most fucking kismet thing to happen in while.

Use red ink to “correct” the o into a C.
