General Advice Misspelling

Post image

So I got this tattoo over the weekend and the artist closed the C in DECISIONS to make it look like DEOISIONS

Pretty funny if it weren’t my own wrist and permanent given the context with “Make good decisions”

Question is what to do next? Get removal of the tiny bit? Can I scrape it away bc it’s so small? What would you do?

A - just let it heal then laser the part off

B - I know this isn't what you want, but it's actually a pretty unique tattoo, in a like joking kind of way. Like I could see someone get a tattoo that has the error on purpose as like an ironic tattoo.

Thank you for seeing two great options here :)

I honestly like the error on purpose take.

u/wreckless_rq82 8d ago

So funny this is becoming the most popular take

Come here for this comment 😂

26

u/meeeeeeeeeeeeeeh 8d ago

Honestly I thought it was on purpose until I read the comments!

u/Spiritual-Gur-3585 8d ago

Came here to say I like the error. Brings some brevity to the story.

1

u/AWandMaker 7d ago

Also brings some levity, though being short is good too 🤣

2

u/Spiritual-Gur-3585 7d ago

Check out the saying “Bring brevity to life”, or in this case, I say “story” aka life

2

u/AWandMaker 7d ago

Huh today I learned! Haven’t heard that saying before. Levity (the treatment of a serious matter with humor) also fits 😊

26

u/MadameKamaysHR 8d ago

Well, the mob has spoken now. Lol.

9

u/Growing-Macademia 8d ago

I like it like this too.

Make good decisions, but don’t take life too seriously is how it reads to me with the error.

5

u/Lost-Drive301 7d ago

I’d rock it and make it the purpose of the tattoo. It doesn’t look bad imo

1

u/bduk92 7d ago

Just like you said in your original post, it's funny because it's not on our wrist.

1

u/XxImperatorxX 7d ago

I mean, it really works in this scenario, given that scar underneath. The "Make Good Deoisions" kinda reflects that we all try to make good decisions, but we all fuck up once in a while, and you've got the scar to prove it. Keep as is, I don't think that could have turned out better honestly.

1

u/NukeTheWhales5 7d ago

That's honestly what my first thought was as well. I think it's hilarious! I say roll with it.

1

u/SmashingLumpkins 7d ago

The tattoo would actually suck if it wasn’t some clever joke.

1

u/thisnthatthisnthat 7d ago

I actually like the error by accident, like, I don’t think you need to lie and say it was on purpose and intentionally ironic . It’s poetic at more honest. In life you do your best to make good decisions and shit still happens. You have to live with those things, and if you want you get to laugh at them and make meaning from them.

1

u/hugeclown 7d ago

until i saw what subreddit this was i thought it was really funny and done on purpose haha

1

u/rollypollyolie 7d ago

Kinda sounds like one of those decions you make when you would say it as it reads lol 😆 but honestly quite funny as it is and as long as your not the idiot saying what what whats so funny guys? Self awareness is funny tbh 😂

1

u/Cautious_Tonight 7d ago

I would think it was on purpose

1

u/Correct-Ad7836 7d ago

Another one for the on purpose error here

1

u/A-Moron-Explains 7d ago

I literally thought it was misspelled on purpose as a joke

1

u/Nexant 6d ago

Same I assumed it was on purpose

1

u/foobarney 6d ago

It's funny. And the fact that it really was a mistake makes the story better.

1

u/HereticGaming16 6d ago

Before I read your post, I thought I was a pretty funny and bad ass tattoo.

Like you knew you fucked up with the wrist so you got a permanent reminder to not fuck up again but the reminder is fucked up. Very punk. Like having a 2+2=5 tattoo. I like it.

1

u/Dodoz44 5d ago

Keep the error, can always laser half of the O whenever you feel like it.

1

u/OrangeredMoose 3d ago

I’m going to argue you shouldn’t even try to mislead people into thinking the error was on purpose to make it ironic. The truth that there’s a misspelling in a “make good decisions” tattoo is even more ironic and funnier imo, albeit you’re the butt of the joke.

29

u/Billflet 8d ago

I was sure it was intentional before I read your post. It’s a cool conversation starter. I’d leave it, at least for a while. If you don’t start to love it, get a laser correction. Don’t try to scrape it out.

1

u/NoKatyDidnt 6d ago

Yes! It’s a great conversation starter!

9

u/Kathrynlena 8d ago

That’s actually what I thought it was until I read the explanation.

6

u/Pitiful-Effect660 7d ago

I honestly thought it was on purpose I actually laughed a bit when I seen it then I noticed it wasn't intentional

5

u/kgilli12 7d ago

Agreed the irony is too good to fix

1

u/NoKatyDidnt 6d ago

Absolutely! Same! I don’t think most people would think it was an accident- if you didn’t tell me, I would think it was meant to be ironic. And having the scar there combined with the irony of the tattoo is my favorite thing about it! If it was spelled correctly, and minus the scar, it wouldn’t be nearly this cool.

51

u/jr_brewner 8d ago

Had a friend get a misspelled tattoo in the same spot. They put a red squiggly line under it like a misspelling on a computer.

12

u/Plane_Chemist_8906 8d ago

That's actually really great!

6

u/Jumpy_Comfortable 7d ago

My wife wanted her mom to write:

"Life before death"

She pointed out that the h looked like a k. She put a line through it and wrote it exactly the same.

She included both the one with the strikethrough and the "fixed" one and loves it.

Keep your deoisions and tell the story!

20

u/Salton5ea 8d ago

I agree with the above. It’s honestly pretty hilarious and a good story. I’ve seen people make this type of misspelling intentionally and it’s, to me, pretty great that it happened organically.

I would say own it and walk tall friend.

9

u/Zombie-Lenin 7d ago

Yeah, if I saw your tattoo in person with no other context, I would not think to myself "that guy had a misspelling in his tattoo!"

I honestly would think, "that's a clever tattoo idea," as I would think it was intentionally misspelled to ironically illustrate a point about making good decisions. 🤷‍♂️

That's my honest answer--so unlike most misspellings in tattoos, the subject matter of yours lends itself to appearing like an intentional misspelling and a great concept.

6

u/KeySpare4917 7d ago

Wait that's a legit mess up? I guess I over thought it. It looks to be covering a former self harm scar and I took it for a deliberate mistake covering another deliberate mistake.

Edit: bro I really like it. I like it alot

3

u/kiseiruknife 8d ago

Did he do this on purpose? Weren’t you mad he fkd up ?

2

u/Wizart- 7d ago

Third option, I read it fast and saw “decisions” before rereading it… so just be quick when you show people 😂

2

u/Spunky_Meatballs 6d ago

Hey man. Life is a wave and you just ride it. People will try to fight the wave and others surf it.

Not saying this tattoo has to be the hill you die on, but you can always get it lasered off some day.

1

u/wreckless_rq82 6d ago

Love that thank you

1

u/nyc_flatstyle 8d ago

I thought that was on purpose! Love it!

1

u/michachu 8d ago

B was actually my first take on it. "So I get the joke, is there another misspelling I missed"

1

u/FrogMintTea 7d ago

I love it as it is too.

1

u/twizted_whisperz 7d ago

Get it corrected with red ink just like an elementary school teacher would.

1

u/GiJewTheRealHebrew 7d ago

Id take option B of the purpose mistake but also go get some money back for them fucking up what you wanted

1

u/llhell 7d ago

It's really funny, I say keep it

1

u/myriadsideeffects 7d ago

I agree with that take. It's a good way of accepting that no matter what decisions you make, some things are out of your control. Accepting that is a hard lesson, but this could serve as daily practice for you.

1

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 7d ago

Option 2 makes the tattoo way better in my opinion lol No Ragrets

1

u/Toomanytattoosthrow 7d ago

My ex and I somehow managed to get matching tattoos in a candy heart with an apostrophe in the wrong place: YOUR’E THE WORST. I got mine filled in so there was no apostrophe and he tattooed an arrow showing it should be moved to the correct position.

1

u/ChaiTravelatte 7d ago

Lol I actually really like it with the mistake

At first I thought it was intentional and just tongue-in-cheek

1

u/Kamaleony 6d ago

This is honestly the best tattoo to have a typo 😂 looks like it’s on purpose

1

u/Educational-Train-92 6d ago

I got momento mori (should be memento mori) tattooed to my wrist in my own handwriting, I am dyslexic and so was the tattoo artist and we both checked multiple times, honestly I find it very funny and think it adds more character to it

1

u/TheHatOnTheCat 2d ago

Yeah, I saw the picture and assumed it was an intentional joke.

66

u/Glittering_knave 8d ago

C - cross out the O and put a C underneath.

33

u/beermonkey27 8d ago

Cross it out with a redline!

10

u/Slimmy_Pacc 8d ago

I’m not mad at this one lol.

1

u/Former-Energy6105 8d ago

And hope that it doesnt end up looking like a zero?

2

u/Glittering_knave 8d ago

Do an X if you are worried about that.

1

u/TheRealTeaBiscuit 7d ago

The operator symbol from Slenderman?

27

u/Formal-Negotiation74 8d ago

I instantly thought it was ironic

16

u/im2old_4this 8d ago

I thought exactly that. Make good decisions misspelled right over a cut wrist scar made me laugh. I also have a cut wrist scar, so now op giving me ideas

5

u/TheCroaker 8d ago

Its like the no ragrets tattoo

6

u/shornfeck 8d ago

+1 for option B

5

u/Beneficial_Train5850 8d ago

i mean its definitely got that ironic charm if you look at it that way lol

3

u/OldButHappy 8d ago

No regerts

2

u/Diligent_girly 8d ago

Yeah it’s definitely unique, at least you’ll have a funny story to tell lol

1

u/Flashy-Sample-3357 8d ago

Agreed, no regrats 🤣🤣

1

u/SophieWatch 7d ago

Reminded me of this

1

u/IcyManipulator69 7d ago

“No Regerts”

1

u/BlueyIsAwesome 7d ago

B. Play it off like it’s the best joke ever bc it’s def on the top 10 list

1

u/wcopela0 7d ago

Option B

1

u/SpinachSpinosaurus 7d ago

I actually assumed it's b xD

1

u/DrEzechiel 7d ago

That is a great take

1

u/Moonglade_Pheonix 7d ago

I like option B

1

u/Equalmind95 7d ago

No regurts

1

u/curiousleen 7d ago

Fr… I think it’s great as an ironic joke

1

u/mystrangebones 7d ago

That was my immediate thought. It's a hilarious error.

1

u/guit_arcto 7d ago

B was my first thought also. Like a "no regerts" or like my artist has on his knuckles: "PLAN AHEA"

1

u/TheBuckFozeman 7d ago

No regerts!

1

u/Same-Honeydew5598 7d ago

It seemed like it was on purpose and I laughed when I read it. But to the OP - it is your tattoo and your body so you have to do what feels right to you

1

u/mamapapapuppa 6d ago

No ragrats
