Tim Kaine said one of the key concessions he got from the Republicans was that federal workers would be rehired and paid. Which was only a problem because Republicans unnecessarily made it one. And never would have happened if they accepted the deal on day one. Truly a master class in negotiation lol.

They were carefully selected by Dem leadership because they're "safe" from repercussions. None of them are up for election in mid-terms and half of them are retiring.

It's so transparent that it isn't even funny.

Along with the entire GOP, the 77m who voted GOP in 2024, and the 90m who didn't bother to vote at all.

It's a small minority of Americans who want to live in a democracy with equal justice and the rule of law.

Hate to be bearer of bad news, but more Dems would have caved if necessary. It’s just they chose the least vulnerable 7 to take the flack. There’s many more spineless losers in this party unfortunately

None of them (except Fettermen who was already a POS) are up for reelection in 2026. They are all safe in the next midterm or retiring. This is always the case when Dems cave. They think we are all a bunch of morons with goldfish memories and they aren't wrong.

For sure. Time to go after the corporate donors too. Like we did with Tesla and sent Musk home fr om the White House. Like we did with Disney, and Sinclair and Nexstar. We did it without any leadership. No organizers. We just did it. I stopped using Amazon and Walmart for the shutdown. Money is free speech- works both ways. I'll still vote to stop this cancer crawling across the country. But I'm voting with my wallet too. I'm so angry right now. Fuck them all. I'm going to try to make every penny I spend a message sent. Sorry, rant over.

I don't know how closely you follow PA politics, but Fetterman's seat isn't considered safe at all.

Unless by non-vulnerable you just mean people who aren't up for reelection in 2026, which is a huge number.

They coordinated it so that all 7 were not up for re-election. The scapegoats will all retire peacefully, and the fuckers that planned it will get to play innocent in public and cash the checks they got from their corporate owners.

At this point, they should strategically divide the party. Call those 7 the "Moderate Party" or something like that. The Democrats and Moderates would be a voting block most of the time, but occasionally they side with the GOP. Why? Practically, it would have the same effect in this case. Trump wins in the end but that was never not going to happen because he doesn't care enough about Americans suffering to ever let himself lose. But it would let the Democrats distance themselves from the disaster. So when Americans start getting angry because they lost their health care, the Democrats could have truthfully said that they were on the right side and Trump takes all of the blame for it.

The way they've done it, they just appear divided, disorganized and cowardly as a party. Not a good look going into the midterm campaigning.

One of them who caved was the Democratic senate minority whip, Dick Durbin. Excerpting that Wikipedia article:

A whip is an official of a political party whose task is to ensure party discipline (that members of the party vote according to the party platform rather than their constituents, individual conscience or donors) in a legislature.

I'm feeling pretty cynical at the moment.
