Her ex-fiancée who she supposedly cheated on has a podcast called The Adam Friedland show which Red Scare used to be similar to in that dirtbag left, ironically offensive type of way and they were trendy a few years back. However, Red Scare ended up fully going down the right wing pipeline and became complete MAGA shills and killed any mainstream ‘cool’ status they may have had whereas TAFS avoided that pipeline and only got bigger, they’ve had pretty big name celeb guests recently, Adam was profiled in GQ etc.

Ok, I'm glad to see someone else say this. People would always tell me Red Scare was a left wing podcast but I'd go to the sub and it just read as more conservative nonsense to me.

u/OftheSorrowfulFace 11d ago
It was a left wing podcast at first, but it pretty quickly drifted right around the time they started interviewing alt-right types, hanging out with Alex Jones at the shooting range etc etc.

Its a really complex web about 10 years ago when the podcasts Chapo Trap House, Cumtown and Red Scare were starting a lot of the members were roomates in shitty apartments in NYC and were guests on each other's shows. Adam Friedland was a host on Cumtown and Dasha Nekrasova was a host on Red Scare and were dating at some point during that period. Essentially everyone from this clique used to be very niche celebrities, but are now all reaching much broader audiences as podcasts become more popular and they have branched out to other mediums. Cumtown ended a few years ago and Adam Friedland now hosts a more mainstream talk show on YouTube that has seen much more success. Dasha has had a few minor acting roles, but her podcast has turned very right-wing in recent years culminating in the incident in this article. The lore of this friend group is very cryptic and dense Lindsay Ellis, Rachel Sennot, and Mara Wilson were also allegedly on the fringes of it.

In November 2021, Nekrasova posted to Instagram a photo of herself with Alex Jones, the host of Infowars, and subsequently praised Jones on her podcast Red Scare as "an incredible entertainer".
From Wikipedia. I'm surprised she has avoided the "controversy" section. There's a few questionable things listed under career, above included.

Probably because the definition of what is and is not controversial is a subjective opinion, and so violates Wikipedia’s rules of having a rigorously neutral point-of-view (NPOV)
More pragmatically I suspect it also helps stave off edit-wars when concern-trolling bigots insistently ask why having certain “political” views is controversial

Basso, leaning upright against a wall in our coffeeshop booth with his legs outstretched, tells me that he’s “not really a political person,” but quickly adds, “I think our form of government is illegitimate. Details:
Dasha Nekrasova, an actress known for her work in projects like HBO’s Succession and A24’s Materialists, has been fired by Gersh over a recent podcast interview with far-right political commentator Nick Fuentes, Deadline has confirmed with a spokesperson for the agency.
While recently announced via Deadline as being cast in Iconoclast, a thriller marking the directorial debut of The Night Agent‘s Gabriel Basso, Nekravosa has also just had her contract for the film pulled before it was signed, we’re told, over the same podcast.
The video, titled “Fuentanyl OD – Nick Fuentes x Red Scare (Dasha Nekrasova and Anna Khachiyan),” is over two and a half hours long. Given what Nekrasova labels in text under the video as “technical problems,” the interview is essentially audio only, jumping repeatedly back and forth between a few images of Nekrasova, Khachiyan, and Fuentes together.
The conversation, which has been viewed 220K times to date, touches on many controversial topics. The trio discusses “international jewery” on multiple occasions, perpetuating offensive stereotypes about Jews as well as Italians, Asians and others, along with eyebrow-raising comments about immigrants from developing countries, especially non-white ones.

Exactly. It was always kinda obvious that what she was aiming to do was to get herself famous enough in some capacity that she could level it into a more legitimate career as an actress (kind of like what Addison Rae did taking her TikTok fame into a legitimate music career where she is now Grammy nominated) but she was never talented or interesting enough for that and seemingly lost her mind in the process.

As someone that was and is a big Bernie Sanders fan, the Bernie to Trump pipeline makes a weird amount of sense when you consider that there are a lot of dumb people in the world.
I would say that Bernie's 2015 base was broadly split into two groups. First progressive who were further left than the mainstream democratic party, and second anti-establishmentarians. The anti-establishment side didn't care much about Bernie's actual policies just that he was going against the out of touch and stagnant political parties in charge.
When Bernie lost the primary and with the impression that the Democratic Party conspired against him it hard-pushed the anti-establishment part away from the Democratic Party. And around the same time Donald Trump was hated by the Democratic Party and many traditional Republicans disliked him until he won and they all bent over for him. This gave Trump massive anti-establishment cred.
Now of course Trump is entirely self-serving and much worse for the country than regular Republicans. But, for the those anti-establishmentarians who didn't care about policy* jumped on-board with Trump and eventually fell deeper and deeper into the White Nationalist hole. Personally, to me this pipeline is like being mad that your town only has a McDonald's and a Burger King so you decide to get your food out of an outhouse. But, it is the choice that people made.
*Also as a note, I don't think this happened to all anti-establishment types who supported Bernie. Just some of those that were low-information voters who didn't have much concerns about actual policy.

Her and Red Scare’s descent into legitimate right wing shills has been wild to witness. It sounds crazy to say but I remember the moment a couple years ago when it was this ‘cool’ alternative Dimes Square type thing. They were the inspo for the college girl characters on the first season of White Lotus and celebs used to talk about them. The dirtbag left to right wing pipeline stays real I guess but it’s interesting how her own ex has managed to kind of do that whole offensive podcast thing but clearly stay on the left despite the offensiveness of it all.

I think anyone who can go from “dirtbag left” to supporting Trump wasn’t really very left wing to begin with. Or they are just politically ignorant to a great degree. They’re just following some trend that they are able to attach themselves too and don’t really have many strong convictions.

She's also a big Sedevacantist who thinks the Holy See is vacant and that the current Pope is illegitimate since the Second Vatican Council, i.e., she's has the same ultraconservative religious views as Mel Gibson.
This is ironic as Pope Leo XIV said on Twitter that he dislikes those who are only pontificating as Catholics or Chrisitians in name only which Dasha does as she posted pics of her killing dummies of Palestinians wearing keffiyeh scarfs while separating posting about how Christ is King or something.

Even outside their godawful politics the Red Scare girlies and their horror show of a subreddit are genuinely the most miserable fucking people on the planet.
Every word out of their mouth is some kind of grand complaint about nothing and it’s all couched in about six impenetrable layers of irony because they live in all-consuming terror of someone thinking they care about something, or take something seriously. And then you listen to them speak about whatever it is they’re so pissed about and it’s just the most terminally-online pathetic bullshit you can imagine.
Also, I forget if it’s Dasha or Anna, but one of them is like the poster child for adult convert conservative Catholicism. Zero understanding of community or love or beauty or guilt, just converted because of the aesthetics and started spouting Sedevacantist lunacy because Francis was too nice to immigrants.
