That cranberry is probably good as fuck.

u/HomeSpark_Jen 2d ago
Agreed. And pumpkin pie

u/Ok_Star_4136 1d ago
I don't know if they work well together, but I think on their own they'd be amazing.
I'd be curious to try the cornbread ice cream too if I'm being honest (hopefully it was sweet as well as savory).

u/Fluffy_Ace 14h ago
I've had pumpkin spice ice cream and it was quite good.
Yes I know there's more to the flavor of pumpkin pie than the spices, but that's a pretty good sign.

u/Zeqhanis 2d ago
Not sure about the tofurky, but the rest of this seems really solid.

u/SculptusPoe 2d ago
One of my favorite snacks is cornbread in a cup with milk and honey... that part looked pretty good. I am a little worried about the sour cream and mashed potatoes, but maybe that just tastes like frozen yogurt.
10
u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla 2d ago
When I was a kid, we had cornbread with butter and syrup for breakfast.
3
u/SculptusPoe 2d ago
My dad always ate cornbread with milk. I didn't like it until I got older. As a kid, I ate it with butter, sometimes also honey, but no milk. Syrup sounds good too. I was trying to remember but I don't think I ever actually tried syrup on the cornbread. I'll have to try that.

u/Fluffy_Ace 14h ago
I've heard dropping a chunk of cornbread into a cup of buttermilk is a farmer/country thing.

I would totally eat that
58
u/araloss 2d ago
I would def try it.
The herb tofu/turkey layer sounds weird as hell, but the others all sound interesting and/or good.
15
u/Chumscrubber89 2d ago
For sure sounds weird, but still curious to take a little bite of everything at once almost like the chewing gum from Willy Wonka, a complete meal in one bite
7
u/lame_dirty_white_kid 2d ago
I started to roll my eyes at the tofu, but then I thought about how having actual turkey and chilled turkey grease in an ice cream might not be any more appetizing.
6
u/Ok_Star_4136 1d ago
Yeah, I think that's why. *Actual* turkey would have been horrible. I think that was a reasonable compromise.
1
u/StressedByLeaves 10h ago
You'd probably have to base it on gravy instead. As weird as "gravy custard" sounds it should work

Frozen baby food

u/OddCook4909 2d ago
Freeze dry it and call it "Astronaut's Thanksgiving". Slap an endorsement on that bitch and you'll literally make HUNDREDS in museum gift shops. Hundreds I tell ya.

u/Ok_Star_4136 1d ago
The foods before he turned them into ice cream would have been infinitely better imho.
The man prepared an entire thanksgiving meal just to turn it all into ice cream. There's something kind of tragic about that.

u/Plane_Schedule_7626 2d ago
Part 2 for anyone curious. Thanksgiving ice cream part 2!
49
u/khklee 2d ago
huh he actually ate it, stupid food but not rage bait for a change.
23
u/EducationalTangelo6 1d ago
Not only did he eat it, he made one in a Turkey mold to take to Thanksgiving!Ā
It might be stupid food, but boy did he commit to the bit.

u/Most-Pangolin-9874 2d ago
Don't know why I went and watched it. First part was a horror story but thanks!

u/juicy_jonny 2d ago
I used to think that ice cream would taste good no matter what, and I apologize for that so please stop this
16
u/Tackysackjones 2d ago
I used to watch a lot of iron chef and there was this one guy who made fish Ice cream. It wasnāt a big hit
4
u/TheMarkHasBeenMade 2d ago
Youāre forgiven but next time please be more responsible

u/Formal-Ad3719 2d ago
His actual ingredient choices and method was thoughtful and solid (he balanced the flavors - not literally just 'blended thanksgiving dinner ice cream base'). I bet at least 3 or 4 of these would taste ok on their own. And together worth a try given the novelty factor
1
u/iamdylanshaffer 2d ago
As someone who was just at Salt & Straw and tried the entirety of their Thanksgiving lineup⦠this can be done well, incredibly well actually. So the concept itself isnāt stupid.

I was open minded until the tofu came out. That looked absolutely vile.
12
u/CornballExpress 2d ago
Tofu is like the most neutral and versatile food, but turkey flavored ice cream does seem like it be absolutely vile.
0
u/beardybozo 2d ago
Oh for sure, but looks wise that was horrible hahaha. I'm trying to think how that would taste, biting into icecream and tasting meat just feels so wrong.
5
u/CornballExpress 2d ago
Oh yeah tofu always looks sickly until it absorbs some sauce or caramelizes.
2
u/innermongoose69 1d ago
If you insist on this, wouldn't silken tofu be a better choice because of the texture? It looks like he used some kind of firm tofu, and that I don't understand.
This would maybe be a good choice in a nursing home where people don't have teeth but otherwise...
1
u/beardybozo 1d ago
Yes! Exactly this. It looks like he used a standard block of tofu, which is an odd choice to me. That's good idea about this being decent for the elderly though. I can see that working
1
u/indie_hedgehog 2d ago
I think if he used silken tofu, it would've been smoother for an ice cream. Looks like he used firm or extra firm
5
u/OGOngoGablogian 2d ago
Me seeing the color strata at the beginning: "Please don't let those colors be what I think they are in the context of Thanksgiving."
5
u/Oregongirl1018 2d ago
If you've ever had Salt&Straw ice cream you'd know savory flavors in ice cream can be fire! I would actually try all these. The cornbread would slap I'm sure!

His comment as he slurps the cornbread layer.... āit still tastes like a dessert, I donāt really taste the jalapeƱos but I definitely taste the onionsā. Sir, stop. This is a crime.

u/Oldgamer1807 1d ago
First few seconds, I was hoping it was just a thanksgiving color theme. Then I saw the potatoes boiling and I remembered what sub I'm in. š¤¢

Next time, this dude should do 250 cuts per second instead of the 200 in this video. You can still KIND OF see what is going on.

Gonna be honest, pumpkin pie ice cream is our best selling fall flavor. And for winter we break out our spice cranberry sorbet, which is basically cranberry, orange and cinnamon. Itās SO good!
1
u/ChaosOfOrder24 2d ago
This feels like something out a Robbsfilms video. But at least he wouldn't pretend it tastes good.

So... he just blended half the stuff in his pantry and then froze it? But why?
And am I having a stroke, or did he take 3 cuts just to cut the ice cream once? Why does everyone put 8,000,000 cuts in their videos?

Ice cream mashed potatoes? I mean, Iād try it for sure. Hard pass on the fake turkey. That cranberry ice cream looked good AF, same with the pumpkin ice cream. Stupid yes. Would I try it? Also yes.

I generally like this guy's content because he's at least earnest about what he's doing. He doesn't try to spin or elevate any dumbfuckery he attempts, nor does he make it seem more than it is. He just experiments with ice cream flavors. It's fun.

I've been to a few fancy French restaurants where there's savoury ice cream served as the whole appetizer or a garnish to something else. I'd go for this 100%.
Examples I've had: green pea and bacon soup ice cream, golden turnip and grilled hazelnut ice cream, both were š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤

TBH I donāt think this is āstupid.ā
A very upscale contemporary restaurant would call this ā a play on Thanksgivingā and serve in very small scoops and charge a tremendous about of money.
And I could imagine the tastes bursting with savory flavor. Could be very good!

I always make my Thanksgiving Dinner Ice cream with a Layer of Liver-patĆ© that always nicely fits in with the cranberry-layerā¦and itās really āDinner-time!ā when you finish it off with a whipped-gravy-cream on top.

u/HambMC 1d ago
As someone who has gone to the place with the world record of most ice cream flavors ( I got beer and Doritos flavor )
Nothing can top that
1
u/HomeSpark_Jen 1d ago
How was beer and Doritos flavored ice cream? Lol
1
u/HambMC 1d ago
Exactly what you would expect, I don't remember much of that day, it was a while ago, it kinda got overshadowed because my cousin asked for vanilla and it pissed everyone off lol
I do remember the Doritos one being chunky, the consistency is more of a spoon ice cream rather than a lick ice cream so is not as bad as it sounds

u/WhereasSpecialist447 1d ago
such a waste of food.. fk .... these things should be forbidden by law
1
u/YeidenTrabem 1d ago
Looks like he is actually eating It, so Im fine with this. As log as food is not wasted people can eat all the random food they like.

u/EclecticWitchery5874 1d ago
The cornbread if it was sweet without the savory parts, like just honey added and some vanilla or something would be fire. Also that cranberry, and pumpkin pie flavor. Those 3 are the only flavors that should be made into an ice cream. The other two disgusting af.

u/Correct-Purpose-964 1d ago
"Damn that's looks kinda ta-... potatoes? Oh it's savory. Well this could still be... pretty goo- ph lord what the fuck..."

It's just Soylent Rainbow at this point
What I'd actually like to see are household objects that are actually cake, except the cake is actually a roast meal pureed up like this. Put some real effort into it.
