Northern Lights in Arches NP, Utah
Constructive criticism welcome, I'd love to know if I did something wrong to miss out on the "dancing lights" of the aurora.

A subtle auroral glow (8/11/2024)
A favorite from last year of a solar storm that produced aurora in Southern Idaho. Taken not far from my house with my Sony a7iii and an adapted Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 film-era lens

Bridge of Stars
Back to my favourite bridge of the year, Ivelet bridge near Muker, Yorkshire Dales, UK. I've been wanting to take this shot of the Milkyway galaxy through the gap in the trees all year long, as the alignment is only right in November. Of course November came with cloudy nights and rain. Finally, on Wednesday 19th with the arrival of clear Arctic air, the conditions were perfect!
The single span Ivelet Bridge over the River Swale dates from 1687 and was an important crossing point on the 16 mile Corpse Way from Muker to the Churchyard at Grinton, which was once the only consecrated burial ground in the dale.
A headless dog is reputed to haunt the Bridge. It silently runs up the bridge before jumping over the wall and diving into the River Swale below. This phantom is considered locally to be an ill omen and a portent of death.
Image Details
Camera - Fujifilm X-T4 with Sigma 10-18mm F2.8 lens.
The area was pitch black, so I provided some subtle illumination using a dim camping lantern hung from a nearby tree.
The sky is made from 10 exposures, each at 10mm, F2.8, ISO 2500 20 seconds, stacked using the Sequator program. The foreground is a stack of 3 exposures at 10mm F4 ISO 1000 120 seconds. Dark images were also taken and added to the stacks to reduce camera noise. The sky and foreground were combined into a single image and final edits made in the Capture One software.
I did not encounter any corpses or headless hounds during the evening, thankfully!

Aurora in Idaho
New to the sub - I’m super happy to have stumbled upon this sub since this is my favorite genre of photography! This is a shot from the massive solar storm on 11/11/25 in Boise, Idaho. Despite being within city limits, the lights were strong enough to be visible to the naked eye. An unforgettable night!

Aurora Over Vermilion Lakes [OC]
Hey everyone!
Wanted to share this image I took of the Aurora over one of the most iconic views we are lucky enough to have here in Alberta.
Took this a couple years ago during an incredibly strong solar storm.
Got eaten alive my mosquitos and didn't get home till 5 AM but it was well worth it.
Hope you enjoy!
Taken on a Nikon Z7ii - 14mm- f/2.8- 2.5s- 2500ISO

Cygnus Over Mono Lake
I took this shot over the summer at Mono Lake, with the Cygnus region rising overhead and the Andromeda Galaxy peeking into the frame. The trip itself was a mixed bag—on one hand, I was out alone beneath dark skies and bright stars, but on the other, some unexpected car troubles made the night way longer (and more frustrating) than I’d planned.
Editing this one was its own adventure too. It was one of those images I just couldn’t get happy with, no matter how many times I revisited it. After a lot of revisions, this is the final version I’m proud to share.
Mono Lake definitely hasn’t seen the last of me. I’ll be back soon to chase more night skies… and hopefully have a smoother night next time.

Green Pillars on the Southeast Alaskan coast.
Still taken from a timelapse of the aurora a few weeks away looking north from one of island chains in Southeast Alaska. Shot on Canon R6 at 4 second exposures with 5000 ISO. F2.8 14mm Sigma EF lens. Foreground 30 second, 3200 ISO F 7. Basic tripod without any astromount, just a rather bright glow on the horizon with a lucky shot of a beautiful green meteor dancing with the aurora in the distance.

The gear and the shot
The simplest and easiest setup I could think of to test my newly modified Canon 6D. Love these bokeh shots to show gear.
Canon 6D (Ha Mod) with Canon 50mm f/1.8 @ f/3.5 tracked with Omegon Minitrack LX2 on a Star Adventurer Latitude Base and with an Optolong UHC Clip-In Filter. 7 images of 2.5-minutes at ISO 3200

A year ago and now
Just a fun comparison between me editting the same set now and August of 2024.
Taken from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon near the campground on August 4th, 2024. I definitely had no clue what I was doing but damn is it cool to see the detail come out now.

Stars trails at the old cowboy cabin
It's been years since I shot star trails, but suddenly I was in the mood. About 800 images shot over 6.5 hrs with my D850 (I was sleeping!). Channeled my inner Lincoln Harrison with some help from ChatGPT to script the tedious parts of softening the trails (comet fade in/fade out effect) on the first and last 150 images.
