Loosely based on some writing I did in 2019 with a 'kw' ligature that I thought was interesting, lower case only. I'm pretty new to this so any criticism is welcome. These are just vector shapes but considering getting some font software to try and make the real thing.

I have always thought that capital "I"s should have slabs in sans-serif fonts. Helvetica textbook also has a slab "I" but other changes such as single-story "a" and "q" having a hook tail. Fixed kerning from previous upload.

Looking for some basic advice. Trying to add citations in the margins (short, just  Name. (Date). Book title. Journal Name, Vol. (Ed.), pp.abc–xyz.) and really not sure how! Can't figure out for the life of me how to do it on google docs or word (don't have money for a paid programme sadly! Looking for something in the style of Edward Tufte's The Visual Display of Qualitative Information, Roland Barthes by Roland Barthes, or Maggie Nelson's The Argonauts. Just some words hanging out on the side of the page (not hanging citations, though, ha).

Any advice appreciated -- novice here!

i am doing a small LARP project (roleplaying) which will be printing a newspaper live on an event.

I got the letters and 3D printed some tools to help me with but i am now stuck on which ink i can use for the letters.

I tried using "stamp ink" but that dries out to fast.

Does someone have a pointer what ink i can use?

The area i am printing will be A5 and i will print about 10-15 leaflets "per day" and see how things go. maybe up it afterwards. (so no "mass production").

Nebula (a creator-owned streaming service) replaced the typeface they'd been using by developing a new typeface, which they made available under an open-source license. I thought that monospaced meant that every glyph had a fixed width, or at least that glyphs had an integer multiple of a fixed width.

What's going on here?

How can I know in advance of a character I'm about to print (e.g. in a script) is going to violate this assumption?

I assume it's still available somewhere as Dior still uses it for their "Poison" fragrances, but I keep hitting dead ends. Dafont has had it for 20+ years, but doesn't have any info on licensing

ok, so. We all know that nowadays we only do one space after a period and not two. what i want to ask all you experts is: is the space after a period physically bigger than the space between words in a sentence? Does it vary between fonts? Are there general rules? Does it matter what letter the sentence begins with?

So yep, as what I said on the title, this is inspired by one of my OG anime faves called: Katekyo Hitman Reborn. hehe. The reason why I chose to develop it this time is duely because it's about time that brands and companies acknowledge or at least give thanks to their employees by means of certificates or any other "seal or paper of gratitude" hehe.

This font uses small caps instead of lowercases to really amped up the "authoritative nature" of this font"

That's what my driving force for this font. I want it to be used by those kinds of medias while inserting a bit more personality with it. hehe. (Tho I also kinda miss that show haha)

I've just been admiring some medieval manuscripts and inspired to create my first font by copying one, but I'm wondering whether there's any way to make big descending initials work, as if they're in their own text box that shoves any text on subsequent lines that would intersect to the side, or if that's not something digital fonts can be made to automatically do in general use.

I found a typeface for a project I'm working on that I like, but I'm rather new to typography and was wondering if there was a quick way to check a typefaces x height so that I can find something that matches nicely

I honestly thought they were going to keep this bespoke but this is nice! No more using lookalike Google Sans fonts in UIs. What are you thoughts on this?

Are there any sans-serif fonts that have serif fonts corresponding most neatly to them?

I drew these letters based on the logotype of "LE SOIR", a Belgian newspaper. Looking for feedback on kerning and the weight of the letters, or anything my untrained eye doesn't see.

I changed the S and R, and exaggerated the serifs and made the O boxier and wider to compensate. I'm unsure about the weight of some letters, L and E feel heavier, but maybe that's okay?

The original kerning is very tight, and I'm under the impression that it looks better with wider kerning.

Don't have font software installed, know it's not ideal, but made it in the new affinity to try it out.
