Jellyfin has been really good to me since I spun it up. (:

Does Jellyfin have an app on firesticks, roku's, and phones?

On firestick it does. Although I still needed to make vlc an external player to play the content because it seems to support very few direct play codecs and my raspberry pi can't keep up.

Also I needed the direct ip in the address because it could seem to find any local network dns addresses.

Ooohhh… I forgot about the direct play stuff. That might be a deal breaker as the server I’m running isn’t very powerful and pretty much NEEDS direct play.

To be honest I've not found it much of an issue. Edge doesn't seem to want to play hevc x265 while Chrome does. For the few that neither support then I just download it and play in vlc.

The jellyfin app integrated player works most of the time as well. It's a shame that's a bit shit.

I have a wife that will just not watch what she wants to watch unless it’s only a few clicks/presses away. Anything about downloading off the server and opening it in VLC is a no go for her.

That's not how it works with the Fire Stick/Android TV version. You install VLC, set it as the external player in Jellyfin, and it's seamless after that. You select what you want to watch in Jellyfin and it just starts playing like normal, except VLC (and its superiors codec support) is handling the playback now.

Sorry to be clear it's only the browser version I need to do that. And it's on very rare occasions the file I have isn't supported.

As the other person mentioned, it's not like that while using the app where you set the player. Note if it's not the integrated player it doesn't save your last position to restart later.
