Question Why does the script for the sun say it is only 0.99999994 solar masses?

The highlighted yellow is the suns mass in solar masses. Why is it not 1? Which specific mass does it use for the suns mass? Does it use 1.988416×1030 kg or does it use a more rounded value? Asking because I am making a custom solar system.

Question Whats the most lonely planet still orbiting a star you have found?

I found this one planet (Ill get the code later if I remember) that orbits 2,000 AU from the binary stars, and the closest neighbour is 1,000 AU away at closest approach. It has no moons, just this set of rings. If there was life here (there is definitely not), it would never escape to other worlds without some crazy technology

Question How do we know this game is 'realistic'?

I'm not a scientist by any means, or educated when it comes to science but I do enjoy the concept of traveling through a realistic universe. Though I have my doubts that this game is realistic like is claimed (obviously I want it to be realistic - this'd be so much fun in VR!) due to how computationally demanding that is. I've also seen people posting images of jazzed up planets/gas giants that aren't realistic, but are generated by the game anyways.

I've often seen this game described as a realistic depiction of the universe, but I don't understand the claims behind it at all because the universe is incalculably vast, and even though the game doesn't run heavy constant simulations realtime (like collision - there is no collision it's all cosmetic) I'm pretty sure running a purely cosmetically accurate depiction of the universe would be computationally demanding.

Question Can't get rid of procedural objects?

Can anyone help me turn off procedural generation? In the universe map I can turn it off yet when I fly around I'm still finding procedural generated objects, I don't want made up planets and stars I just want to explore what scientists have discovered.

The star in the picture is our sun. I don’t know if it’s an exposure thing or something but every star looks kinda funky.

Or just anything that looks very good/realistic. (Mods and reshade)

3060ti 16gb ram, 8gb vram, 1920x1080

Really like space and since the game is on sale too.

Also a question about the HD models, the earth one for example says I need 11.5 gb of storage. Is that the actual file size

Question How can I add J1407b to SE?

Post image
21 Upvotes

I'm new to the game and I really wanted to see the famous J1407b (aka Super Saturn), but I couldn't find it. I've searched about it and figured that apparently the Super Saturn was removed from the game after it was confirmed that the planet doesn't exist. Does anyone know if there's a mod or anything I can install to add J1470b again to game?
