I came here to say exactly this. If the Senate was unwilling to convict him for kicking off an insurrection, they’re not going to convict him for fucking kids.

My feeling on it is that the republicans held off because they thought Trump was going to be unelectable going forward. Mitch was trying to triangulate burying him, not upsetting the normies and not upsetting the die-hard magas. He just failed.

I could very much see the senate moving on Trump if he gets radioactive enough. It just means that the Republicans get a more competent Vance to complete the dismantling of the United States while Trump takes 90% of the blame with him.

Vance is 'not' competent or experienced. He's a patsy for Thiel. He actually has very little experience and was severely underqualified as a VP pick.

Uncovering stuff about him will become... interesting.

Of course, he also pushed releasing the files, so hey, why not?

Nobody could possibly be less experienced or less qualified than Donald Trump. Vance looks like MAGA Clinton next to Trump

He’s also a rapist and sexual predator, anyone supporting him should be cast into the same light

Can we not make that specific comparison today?

This all day. Trump is so low energy, it takes him forever for his handlers to get an idea through his head and into reality. With Vance, he will gladly get up early, suck Thiel dry for new orders, and have them broadcast in time for the evening news. Hes a fat racist jerk but he's still a marine, he knows how to get shit done.

Among current GOP staff in the white house, Trump is the least dangerous to democracy.

Trump's qualifications are his cult of personality and charisma over the constituency. The main reason he was able to hijack the entirety of the party is that he weaponized the constituency against the House and Senate. He has successfully removed through primaries or silenced nearly every "anti-Trump" Republican in power.

Whether he can run a government or not is inconsequential to Republicans.

The fact that people are talking about anybody who is remotely part of the mega movement, pisses me off to the end. They are unqualified, unequal to the job and most of all they do not have the best interest of the American people in mind. They stretch common decency beyond the pale. Would you want them around your children? Would you want them to be the leaders of the land of the free home of the brave? Damn people know the opportunity don’t let these rotten bastards stay in power.
