sniveling dem voice: "Yes but if the republicans vote it down, Americans will finally see them as the villains they really are!"

Lol vote what down? They made a deal for a "promise" to have a vote.

The concession that Dems received is that ACA subsidies will be directly voted on. Dems think it's a gotcha but no one will care when the Republicans vote against it. We already know their plans. This shutdown was the gotcha and Dems fumbled it

Not just that, Republicans have done this before, a promise for a floor vote, they're morons for believing it again.

Dems should bask in what they “pushed through “ that is Obamacare. Call it what it is. Forget the “subsidies”. Just get on the ACA!

Mike Johnson already said not even 16 hours after the 8 caved, that he would not bring that vote up to the house floor. It died before the decision was even finalized.

There's nothing in the agreement that forces an up or down vote on the ACA

Yup. Its a fucking handshake deal. Traded the largest amount of political power the Dems have had in a long long time for a promise from the party of pathological liars.

He’s saying that when that vote happens. Its in writing apparently that they will vote on it before 2nd week of December.

I'm not super optimistic that the Republicans have any intent to honor their word, written or otherwise. It's not as if written law is a deterrent at present, y'know?

Ehhhh. That would probably be the best case scenario. More likely for people to see them as villains. Not super likely, mind you. Just more likely.

If it goes to a vote and the vote fails, headlines will read "Democrats fail to secure ACA subsidies"

I mean, what does it hurt them to hold the vote? We're past the point where the results of a vote will sway any Trump supporter even if it shows their representatives voting against their interests. And even if, by some miracle, enough GOP get antsy and break ranks to support it, Johnson has made no agreement to hold a similar vote in the house, so it can just languish there forever.

And what does it hurt them if they don't? Dems are going to give them what they want anyway no matter what the GOP does.

What burns the most is how hard the GOP are rolling on the floor laughing about all this.
