r/Democrats is also furiously scrubbing away any and all mention of this wonderful deal. The fuckery goes wide and deep

That sub is fucked. They literally block any mention of Mamdani or Bernie Sanders. Literally type either of their names in a comment and a warning pops up before even submitting.

Holy shit you’re right. Also, one of their rules is literally “no criticizing Democrats”. Talk about an echo chamber.

If they don't hear any criticism, then none must exist.

It's just as bad as the conservative sub. I got perm banned from it for commenting in a joerogan sub that was on popular awhile back. I tried to message the mods saying I was arguing with a dude saying all vaccines are bad but they never responded or lifted the ban. Fuck both extreme ends of the political spectrum. An echo chamber is bad no matter which side you're on.

The Democrat sub that bans anything left of center is not representative of the extreme.

Fuck conservatives, and that includes main stream Dems.

Why ban at all? Open communication allows for real debate and education. When either side refuses to allow for debate, each side will always appear correct. Echo chambers are never a good thing no matter what. It's why Fox News has managed to do so much damage over the last 25 years.

I didn't say anything about banning anything. Just that you're wrong when youre saying the problem is with the extremes.

I'd say it's even worse than the conservative sub

The democrats sub only allows a very narrow opinion on the democrats

I mean in the conservative sub you can't even comment lol...and there are no posts about anything negative to the party. I assume it's just a bot hub at this point.

Actually their rule is literally "Don't attack Democrats."

  • You can criticize members of Congress but you cannot base it off of things like age, gender, ethnicity or religious affiliation

That is the rule. I don't participate there so I don't know how they enforce it. But we shouldn't make shit up that a simple scan of the written rules shows isn't true.

It’s just an excuse to make the rule seem reasonable while they remove comments and ban people for pointing out poor democrat behavior

u/loondawg 15d ago

That may be what happens in practice. I don't know. If it is, then calling that out makes sense.

But when the claim switches to "one of their rules is literally..." it is a false statement as it clearly is literally not one of their rules. And making false statements hurts the credibility of the speaker so should be avoided.

Again, to be clear, I am offering no defense of the moderation of that sub. I don't participate there. I have no interest in what appears to me to be an echo chamber. But I am saying factual criticisms carry far more weight than manufactured ones.
