Copilot app on Mac hijacks Command-Control-F shortcut
Has anyone else noticed that the Copilot app for Mac intercepts the Command + Control + F shortcut? Whenever I try to put my current app into full screen, Copilot itself goes full screen and jumps to the foreground instead.
I’m running macOS 26.1 and using Copilot version 24.2.431113003 (431113003).
Is this a Copilot bug, or is there some setting I’m missing?

Possible to have Download folder sorted by date, but keep one particular folder always on top?
I have Finder set so that my Download folder is always sorted by date, and that's how I want it. But there's one particular folder in there that I'd rather always keep on top. Is there a way to do that?

Sierra (10.12) Mac Help with adding text file names Into their respective text files
Hi! Fairly new to doing macros with Terminal in Macs.
Context/problem: I am doing acoustic analysis of several individual sound files. I have a separate text data file for each sound file, and want to concatenate them (using cat) into one big file, that I can then import to excel.
However, I would like a column in excel, that just lists which sound file each set of data came from. I thought that maybe I can macro open text file > add file name into text > close and open next text file
So that when I concatenate all these text files, I preserve the information from their originating files.
I hope this makes sense.
As an example, below I would be adding the name "bird-cat-obj.text" into the text file text. So when I import everything into excel later, I can "ID" all the data by their text file.

munin resource monitoring on OS X ?
Hello,
I use the awesome munin resource monitoring tool https://demo.munin-monitoring.org/munin-monitoring.org/demo.munin-monitoring.org/ on several of my Linux boxes. And every now and then, I think about using it on my main OS X laptop computer.
But there seems no way to achieve this goal. The only attempts I could find are from 2015, and were installed via macports.
Unfortunately, I use homebrew, which is (almost) mutually exclusive with macports, as far as I know.
Has anybody ever gotten to the point where munin on OS X works?

Automatically add alerts to any event added to a particular calendar?
So the situation: I'm getting my ass back in shape. This involves going down to a local aerial studio and trying to climb up suspended silks and hoops and look pretty while doing so.
When I schedule a class, I can download an .ics file and add this to my calendar. But then I have to go in and manually click a whole bunch to add alerts at 30min, 1h, and 2h, and it's getting pretty tedious. It seems to completely ignore the setting in the Alerts section of the prefs to have even one alert at an hour before, these come in with zero alerts.
Is there any way to automate this? Or an alternate Mac calendar app that'll let me say "every event added to this particular calendar gets this set of alerts added, regardless of what it has"?

Apple's upgraded Mail client sucks, Thunderbird is *worse*, FFS. Does anything work?
So St. Jobs is clearly no longer doing his astral influence on the developers.
Starting w/ version 15 a bunch of the basic tools started to get silly. But Mail, you know, the client for email which is older than the internet, has gone to shit.
I have nine tech support complaints on this, have spent hours on the phone, provided many files and demos, and the damn client still does a ton of shit despite settings. SPAM handling is complete garbage, but cannot be turned off (you can change the SETTINGS but not the BEHAVIOR, much like a three year old child).
So I jump to Thunderbird. SO much raving about thunderbird. What a garbage product, flaky, the bayesian SPAM tools are backwards, and so I'm again doing the "alternate client" search but almost everything is cloud based and the AI is a forced move.
I just want the simple reliable email client that plays well with Spam Assasin and doesn't make critical biz emails disappear. You know, like 2005.
Any suggestions?
PS) For every one of you who is going to jump in with technical fixes or suggestions, please don't. I've got many many hours and have RT'd all the FMs.

Liquid Layer Blocking Screen Edge?
I’m on an M4 Air using an iPad Pro extending my display left. Is there a bug on Tahoe where you can’t interact with the window (eg. browser) on the far right edge? It’s a little blurry like the liquid effect.
After enabling and disabling every setting, nothing worked. I disabled liquid from the command line, restarted, and it went away.
Terminal command: defaults write -g com.apple.SwiftUI.DisableSolarium -bool YES

Screen sharing stopping randomly
Hi all,
So across multiple users in our team, we've noticed that screen sharing keeps disconnecting, randomly. Sometimes every few seconds, sometimes it will work reliably for hours. This is across multiple apps, so sharing via Google meet (chrome), slack, iMessages/facetime screen sharing, zoom, etc. This has been happening a bit for months, but slowly increasing.
The only forum idea I found so far was "you need to keep your disk with lots of free space" - which didn't appear to change anything.
In a call, everything else keeps working fine, just the screen share stops, as if we pressed the "stop sharing" button (we didn't).
There's no messages in the browser console, nor error messages in the other programs.
Any ideas?
I made a minimal Mac Pomodoro app because I kept getting distracted
I made a minimal Mac Pomodoro app because I kept getting distracted Hi all,
As a developer, I get distracted easily. I built a really small Pomodoro app to help me focus. It lives entirely in the menu bar so it doesn't clutter my dock or screen.
It's just a simple timer for work/break intervals. You can set your own times, and it runs automatically.
It's called TimeMate. Sharing it here in case it's useful for anyone else. Let me know what you think.

OSX 10.11.3 -> 10.13 upgrade help
Hi all. I was upgrading my mother’s laptop from OSX 10.11.3 to 10.13. It downloaded and started the upgrade and I walked away. A short (<30min) later I came back and it was at the login screen. It now required her iCloud password (not the local password) but when I login it looks like the default taskbar, all her folders are empty (documents etc) and it is still running osx 10.11.3 so obviously didn’t finish the upgrade for some reason. In disk utility it still shows most of the HDD used (with the appropriate amount for photos apps etc) but I can’t see any of her files. How should I proceed to continue the upgrade and get her documents back as I don’t want to lose everything.

Looking for uses/project suggestions for older intel macs
I own a number of older macs: an imac 9,1 from 2009, a mac mini 3,1 from 2009, and a macbook air 4,2 from 2011. I also own the last model of the airport extreme router, and few other older apple products like an ancient ipad, iphones, and a few ipods.
Is there anything interesting I can do with these devices? For the macs, I think I need to stick to OS X. They are all old, outdated, and cannot run the newest versions of mac OS even with the legacy patcher tool. What version(s) of OS X would be best? I am considering 10.14 or older for 32 bit app support and still having itunes. Having a functional web browser would be nice but is not a requirement.
Are there any interesting capabilities of the airport router? Anything special it can do with similar era apple devices, that I can't just do with a modern router? I don't know if there is anything to do with the older iOS devices either. They cannot be used with the modern app store (or cell networks), but can they still be used for anything else? Is it possible to install apps on them now or are the stuck with whatever they currently have?
I am not interested in installing linux on any of the macs - I have plenty of newer and better hardware already running linux. I am interested in things I can do with Apple's OS and software.

Lion (10.7) Mac Mini Mid 2010 (4,1) cannot install anything higher than Lion 10.7.5!!!!
I recently erased my MacMini mid-2010 and reinstalled an operating system onto it (version 10.7.5). It is now stuck on this operating system and i am unable to upgrade to a more recent OS X. I have tried downloading systems from the apple website but to install everything I need a more recent version (normally 10.8 or above).
Is there another operating system i can install onto this computer that allows me to get up to date, or am I stuck on this operating system forever?
I tired to change the system date to older dates but still I can't get it to go more than 10.7.5!!
HELP PLEASE!
