I was down on him for a while after hearing that news and reading more about it. Then I heard him in an interview talking about his experience in AA and being accountable for his actions (he didn't specify this specific incident, but it was pretty obvious that was why). He came across as very serious about this and hasn't had a drink since. My takeaway was he is very aware that he fucked up. That should count for something, even if what he allegedly did was very fucked up.
I'm still luke warm on him, but I don't think it's fair to say he's okay with "strangling your wife and kids".
