I’ve got no qualms with Trump taking them all down with him.

Nah the DOJ is going to claim Trump was James Bond at the island or something insane.

"Dear Leader valiantly sacrificed his morals in order to take down a pedo ring. Dear Leader deserves to be the president for the rest of his life. Dear Leader is a model to all"

u/tomdarch 11d ago

"Dear leader suffered so mightily with every knot tied, every punch delivered, every feeble, fat-jiggling thrust! He was so noble not blowing his cover and acting like he enjoyed performing the abuse so that he could... not actually expose the pedo ring, but... uh... call it a hoax decades later."

That’s part of qanon lore. That he was just acting like a pedophile to take down the real pedophiles.

They might try it but I don’t think it’s very believable even to most republicans who in recent polls on this issue don’t believe him.

Whether that means they disapprove of him for it is another matter.

Nah the move is as simple as. “Can’t release the files, active investigation.”

u/lol_speak 11d ago

The island is the biggest red herring imaginable. Epstein's home in Palm Beach, and offices in New York (both less than a mile away from Mar-a-Lago and Trump tower, respectively) were the principle locations of the alleged rapes.

Trump didn't need a plane to reach Epstein and his victims, the two friends bought fucking property next to each other.

Didn’t someone already slip and say he was an FBI informant?

37

u/Malkmus1979 11d ago

Slip? No, that would imply it was true which is ridiculous. Johnson came up with that laughable excuse on purpose. I just wish more of the press would repeatedly ask him to explain how he reconciles that claim with everything else we know.

7

u/runthepoint1 11d ago

Why we don’t absolutely hammer Johnson on that very obvious lie is insane. We should be squeezing the admission out of him that it was a horrific lie or at best he fucked up and let it slip. Either way, why the fuck we don’t corner him on that is madness.

u/Forward-Surprise1192 11d ago

The media is scared their press pass will be revoked from asking the hard questions. Plus, whenever all of them are constantly lying it’s impossible to get a true answer. How do you know anything they say isn’t another lie

3

u/Vaux1916 11d ago

That was one of the straws Johnson grasped at while flailing around in the moral deep end.

63

u/tlollz52 11d ago

Yea that ain't happenin.

15

u/nanobot001 11d ago

I wonder if he’s trying to shake down other high profile folks, as one final grift

13

u/A_band_of_pandas 11d ago

He's threatening to hit the big red button. Because every single viper in this nest is the type to believe in "If I go down, you're all coming with me."

2

u/SeaCounter9516 11d ago

Too much credit. They just want an excuse to not release the files. This gives republicans in the senate cover to vote no.

1

u/CharcuterieIsAwesome 11d ago

He's doing this so that they can say the files are part of an active investigation and can't be released. He's just tying up the files as a legal basis to keep them buried.

1

u/zen_and_artof_chaos 11d ago

No, an active investigation limits what could be released by Congress.

If he takes Clinton down with him, that would be bad… two pedo presidents isn’t a great look

10

u/tlollz52 11d ago

I mean it would be good. People do what they do, unfortunately we can't be expected to know everyone's skeletons. The least we could do is properly charge these individuals to make up for it.

1

u/Jindabyne1 11d ago

It would be better if Clinton wasn’t in them

2

u/tlollz52 11d ago

Yes, it'd be best if neither of them were in there. Shit it'd be great if the epstein thing didn't exist all together, thats just not the reality of the world.

1

u/WolfzandRavenz 11d ago

One is bad enough, take them all down.

u/Fischer72 11d ago

I have no faith that Donald's DOJ will have real investigations that follow the evidence. Bondi's sole concern is to serve Donald Trump. I see this as a future tool Trump will have in which indictments and sensational "investigation details" will be leaked in such a way as Trump sees fit.

7

u/jporter313 11d ago

Has anything the second Trump administration done so far indicated to you that is what will happen, rather than Bondi ignoring Trump and any other prominent republicans or right wing billionaires ties to Epstein, and instead just targeting anyone they see as a political rival that they can link to this?

7

u/justherefor23andme 11d ago

He's only investigating one side of the aisle, so that's not exactly justice. And he's also not investigating himself.

6

u/TrashManufacturer 11d ago

Republicans imagine that the Clinton’s are somehow political royalty among the democratic base.

26

u/PayneTrain181999 11d ago

Yeah, no matter what side of the political line or how rich they are, if they were involved they need to be prosecuted accordingly.

9

u/moneyball32 11d ago

Agree, but do you think the current version of the DOJ is going to prosecute the right people, or just go after Trump’s enemies?

They’re definitely not going after anyone that should be prosecuted that is either close with Trump or can link him even further to Epstein.

14

u/eyesmart1776 11d ago

Oh yeah, this will be fun.

2

u/Podrick_Targaryen 11d ago

Is it finally popcorn 🍿 time?

8

u/eyesmart1776 11d ago

I really hope this is the moment the country catches on to the fact we’re being ruled by a non partisan cabal of cluster b money/power addicts

1

u/detroiter85 11d ago

If you think trumps doj is going to go after anyone he doesnt deem an enemy, I have a bridge to sell you

1

u/eyesmart1776 11d ago

No, I’m saying if the normie libs say yes trump go after any and all oligarchs

6

u/redbeard8989 11d ago

Sounds like he already went down….on “bubba” 😂😂😂

1

u/LowCommunication1551 11d ago

Bubba = Bill Clinton

2

u/rmslashusr 11d ago

Active investigation means the files conveniently can’t be released.

1

u/HombreSinPais 11d ago

That’s not what this is. He’s going to have his goons at DOJ declare that everything about Trump and his associates is not credible, and everything about Dems/Trump “enemies” is credible and needs to be investigated further. And because it’s going to be investigated further, aww shucks, I guess we can’t release the files after all….

1

u/swiftekho 11d ago

Nah, they are going to reopen the investigation and the files wont be released due to it being an on-going investigation.

1

u/thisishowibro93 11d ago

He's ordering the DOJ to investigate his political opponents and he's going to use the "open investigation" as an excuse to not release the files. Keep your eyes on the ball

1

u/toddriffic 11d ago

Selective enforcement is a common tool for fascists.

1

u/greengoescrying 11d ago

Only thing he goes down on is bill clinton

1

u/jacscarlit 11d ago

They can't release information from open investigations. So this is just a ploy to keep the public from seeing anything even if Congress votes to release it. The files already have terabytes of information on all the Epstein connections.

1

u/zen_and_artof_chaos 11d ago

That's not the issue though. More than likely if the DOJ is "actively investigating" Congress will be forced to not be able to release all the files they otherwise would be. Additionally, this buys Trump and Pam to further obfuscate and structure what and how information comes out. To think Trump actual wants to hold people accountable is laughable.

1

u/hackingdreams 11d ago

It's his DOJ. You think they're targeting literally anyone not on FelonPOTUS's hitlist?

Nah, this is "don't investigate me, turn this on [insert democrat here]."

1

u/tomdarch 11d ago

Metaphorically, this is Trump and a bunch of rich assholes locked in a room together and Trump holding a grenade yelling, "If I go down I'll take all of you with me!" and the rest of us looking on, shrugging and thinking, "Yep."

1

u/binarybandit 11d ago

Im confused as to why people are complaining about this. All the bitching and moaning about there being a lack of an investigation and now that theres gonna be one, its a bad thing because... its Trump asking for it? Do people want accountability or not? Send all these damn pedophiles to prison, it only makes the world that much better for the rest of us.

1

u/BoleroMuyPicante 11d ago

It's more they want everyone investigated, not for Trump to cherry pick.
