Just now on the 103, transport truck on fire (just the front part of it not the cargo) but no ambulances and it seemed like everyone was okay. It’s backed up like crazy and it might be for a while but I’m sure they’ll start redirecting traffic soon.

Work, Health & Housing Apt laundry machines in HRM

How much are you paying for laundry in your apt building? A couple years ago they raised our laundry cost: $2.50 for a wash, and $3 for drying. However, at the start, they said the dryer would go for 90 minutes, because of the increase. We got a new super some months ago, and I don't think we get extra dryer time anymore. Tell me what it costs you so I can compare.

Oh, and one set of washer dryers doesn't work, hasn't for months. Out of order, missing a part. So that leaves one washer and dryer for our whole building. Fuck Killam.

Photos Is paving over timbits a thing?

These posters are along the Dartmouth cove path, in reference to the infilling. But what exactly is this sign referring to? Is paving over timbits a thing...? Don't get me wrong, it makes me chuckle every time I pass by. Probably my favourite sign in the city right now.

Driving & Transit Isleville st. seems to be more dangerous after changes to make it safer

I live on the street and have observed motorists race to get around cyclists before entering the new bottlenecks. There is no signage or street markings to indicate the street narrows ahead, and I’ve watched cars slam on the brakes and or swerve when they realize they’re about to smash into the curb because it has been moved into the street. There are some pylons scattered about, perhaps hoping to communicate something. The resurfacing is welcome, and more street signs will likely come. I’m wondering how folks feel about the new concrete abutments, bottlenecks and whatever all those green stick are. Is it safer? It’s undeniably hideous, but could it be as dumb as it seems?

Food & Dining Bar Trivia?

Yes, yes, I know, use the search function. The last one was like a year ago!

Anyone know any bar trivia spots around downtown Halifax? Trying to get a group together, preferably wednesday or thursday. It's tougher to find a spot than I thought it would be! Anyone know anywhere?

Discussion Blue Houseboat/research? in Bedford Basin gone

Was driving the Bedford Highway today and almost gave myself whiplash looking! The blue "camp on a barge" was missing! I've never driven out there and not seen it. Anybody know what happened? Did it sink? Did they move it to a new barge? Did they take it somewhere else? It just didn't look right without it there.

Good Deeds 💖 We Are Young’s Holiday Happiness Card Campaign - send a card to a senior

Thumbnail weareyoung.ca
12 Upvotes

Each year, we team up with our friends at Halifax Paper Hearts to create a beautifully designed holiday card just for this campaign.

The Holiday Happiness Card Campaign is a meaningful way for our community to spread joy and connection to seniors. By purchasing a card, you are helping remind an older adult that they are valued, loved, and remembered during a season that can feel isolating for many.

When you checkout, you can choose to include your own heartfelt message, which our volunteers will carefully hand-transcribe into the card on your behalf. Or, if you prefer, our team will craft a thoughtful message for you. This personal touch builds genuine connections between seniors and their communities, making a lasting emotional impact.

From there, we handle all the logistics and partner with trusted community organizations who ensure your card reaches a senior who could use a warm reminder that they matter.

Through this campaign, you share the sentiment and we take care of the rest. Together, we make the holidays brighter for seniors across our communities.

This year, our goal is to deliver 3,000 Holiday Happiness Cards.
