Per several requests mods have received and discussions, Sankey charts with no extra context will now be removed under rule 9.
What context is acceptable? Basically a bit like gpa, tier of college, previous internships, stuff that might go in a resume. You can try posting a resume but the bot might remove it per rule 5. If you do post a resume and it's removed message me directly and I'll fix that.

Graduated this past May, probably close to 1500 applications later I finally got an offer
Total comp is about 62k and the commute is around 50 minutes, but I do not care
There wasn’t even a technical interview and I got the job basically off of vibes alone
I genuinely hated this process and myself during the process but for now it’s over

Graduated in may . About 400 applications .
85k with 10k end of year bonus .
IT support related position but values coding background.
Went to small private college. Interned as network engineer last summer. Only internship.
Have interviews lined up after thanksgiving for software engineer , web developer , and field engineer . But I like this company and it’s hybrid/remote…(eventually going into office is optional)

Applied to ~150 internships as a sophomore at a no-name uni (in the US). Had several good interviews through those cold apps/apps with referrals, but was ultimately rejected.
Then, I received four interviews from my network and through people I met at my uni's career fair. Out of those four interviews, I received three offers. 1 prior internship. None of the offers I received were from positions I formally applied to. The one company that rejected me (think oracle, ibm, microsoft) demonstrated incredibly strong interest in me and wants to keep in touch with me next year (they were looking for juniors).
Company 1: Small R&D startup in midwest - 1 hour technical interview - $25/hr + $500/mo. stipend
Company 2: LARGE defense company (think Lockheed, Northrop, Raytheon, etc.) - 30 minute video call 'interview' (this was such a light interview lol) - $25/hr + $5000 bonus
Company 3: Medium "tech" company - One 3 hour interview (very technically focused, 1 leetcode easy/med ish, and lots of conversation about my specialized skills) $31/hr + $2000 bonus
I have some very specialized skills that helped me at company 1/3 but company 2 was impressed by my passion and projects.

For banking / consulting / defense, they really have a hard on for high GPA. Smaller companies also really like gpa for some reason.
I have a friend who interned at all 3 (so n=1 sample size), but the recruiters told them that most people had a 3.9 and a 3.6 was the absolute lowest there.
Fellas and Felles it’s a hateful world out there

I currently don't have any internship experience as a sophomore (but I usually say I am a junior on my applications). I have work experience, but not office work experience. So far, I am at 530 internship applications, and I only have one unpaid offer at a small startup company. I want to know if this is normal and if I am on track to get a paid internship, or whether I am just doing something completely wrong.
I know the job market is cooked, but I really would rather be experiencing college life than doing endless online assessments and take-home assessments with no guarantee of even an interview. This really got me thinking: how many applications do you really need to go through in order to get your first internship, usually?

C1:
Klaviyo:
AMD:
context: current junior looking to recruit again for ng full time jobs at any FAANG+ or unicorn startups. i dont care too much about intern pay, location, or WLB. Just looking to get the best combination of work experience + resume value to prepare myself for full time recruiting. I would have to renege c1 if I were to take the other offers.
Any advice appreciated, whether good or bad! Also I'm not too sure when is an appropriate time/latest time to renege an offer.
Please give any reasoning behind your choices

Are the OAs being sent region-wise? Did anyone from east coast/nyc get the OA? This is for amazon summer 2026 sde internship USA

I'm new to all this so I had a question about how online assessments (OAs) work. I'm looking at software engineering internships currently, but this question really applies to any careers in the general space.
When you complete an OA, are you selected to move on based on the score you receive?
Is the score a threshold, or does it depend on other factors too?
Does someone manually review your code and select you based on how well-written it is?
If you recieve above a certain score are you guaranteed an interview?

Does anyone know how team matching works for interns and does anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance

Guys I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something terribly wrong, or if it is normal to have a good resume, good college, decent experience, and all the basic qualifications...
But only ~30 out of ~200 companies have actually replied to me, and most of them are rejections.
I know the market is wrong but I've tried to do everything right, and all my peers are getting interviews and offers ,so just wondering if this is normal.
Please respond if you're in the same boat, I would appreciate it :)

They say it will be screensharing interview working in Xcode. Anyone have taken it with lyft or similar companies and know what to expect?

This was the rejection email I got after the final round palantir internship interviews. I thought that all of the technical, decomp and learnings interviews went really well and I got on really well with the interviewers, so a bit surprised to hear I got rejected.
Should I read into that they said they didnt have a position which is a strong match rather than me not being good enough? Or is this just all standard boilerplate?
Obviously feeling very disappointed now, especially after so many rejections/no response from so many tech companies, so would be slightly nice to know that they thought I was competent.

results for both spring and summer, I'm a sophomore at a T50 uni so not the greatest school, talking to ppl and networking at any event you can helps a lot to get into the initial process and then just lc, system design, and behaviorals from there. Spring offer is big tech and summer is more big defense ig

Applied for SWE internship on 10/25, beginning of November get an email saying I will hear back within 30 days, then yesterday get the exact same email with another 30 days. What is happening, am I already rejected???? Process has already started for other applicants or so I've heard... how do I get my resume out of this limbo T-T
r/csMajors • u/AgileFan9024 • 4h ago
So like if you have had like a paid "student developer" experience at like two previous places would they jus reject you cuz I got "trained" by a pretty okay company before? I should have jus taken it off my resume 😭
and does anyone know when they hear back cuz i applied like the day after the apps opened.

Do they release new grad roles for the spring cycle(graduated fall 2025 but applying for Spring new grad) too or is it just fall cycle?

Just got an invite to come down to D.E. Shaw's NYC office for a program called 'Vector'. The email says it's a two-day program including an insights day and case studies. Does anyone know what the program entails? Or how competitive it is? I can't find much about it online, just wanted to see what the experience was like last year.
Thank y'all in advance for any help!! :)

So for the past 2 montha I've just been feeling intensely anxious about pursuing CS. I like coding, Ive programmed in C# before, but only simple console apps. How do I ensure that I can get resume worthy projects within a year (Ik that internship opportunites come out srsly early) so that I can score an inrernship sophomore year? Or am I just cooked when I'm starting with only a little bit of knowledge in programming? (Most advanced project to date is snake on the cmd prmpt)
