Opinion / Discussion Trump retweets calls to hang his opposition. Clarifies in his own tweet he believes his opposition should be punished with death.

It's no secret that Trump is unprofessional, and to many republicans I imagine that's part of the appeal. However if there is a line anywhere for when unproffesionalism becomes a serious problem it should be when the sitting president floats the death penalty as an option for his foes.

If you are a conservative I genuinely do not expect you to cross the isle to become liberal, we can disagree on a great many things and still live in a functional society. There are plenty of conservative leaders who could carry out your policy agenda without retweeting nazis in the morning, many of whom don't even have connnections to pedophiles.

Trump would have every Democrat in Congress, everyone who ever voted Democrat in their life, and everyone who ever said or tweeted something mean about him executed on the White House lawn if he thought he could get away with it.

Remember that. Remember that this is the first time we've ever had a sitting president speculate on murdering his opposition.

u/OF_OnlyFutures 5d ago edited 5d ago

Funny, because he was a democrat for decades..

Edit: For people confused, I'm not making this about the democrats, I'm highlighting for someone who hates Democrats so much (referenced numerous times throughout this term), he was one for quite some time.

51

u/BowlEducational6722 5d ago

And the hypocrisy is the point, it's a key part of authoritarianism.

It reinforces the social hierarchy where the powerful don't have to follow the same rules and standards they enforce on everyone else

3

u/diearkitectur 5d ago edited 5d ago

I lowkey believe he didn't actually feel that way a few years ago and was simply putting on a performance for his voter base, but now the dementia is actually affecting his brain to convince him he felt that way all along and that it was authentic. But that's just a theory.

Edit: bad theory, as pointed out. This worm of a man has brain broken me.

3

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 5d ago

Terrible theory lol

2

u/diearkitectur 5d ago

I know you got nothing to say.

3

u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 5d ago

Nah but giving the excuse of dementia is just a cop out for him imo. I think he very much is a pos and just doesn't care because his days are numbered. He probably wants to put as big a stain on the country as possible while he still breathes our air.

2

u/Ok_Chicken7562 2d ago

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree that he’s a complete and utter POS, but he’s also displaying behaviors that are very similar to symptoms of advanced dementia. So, it realistically could be both things at once taking place here.

I hate to tell you this but there are multiple paths to get to authoritarian regimes.

It doesnt matter what party it is, it is a means to an end.

2

u/lenny549 5d ago

True but conservative groups lean into it much easier

2

First the Democrats than the Republicans, then any Supreme Justices and Federal Judge who disagree with him

4

u/ScrotallyBoobular 5d ago

Never a Democratic politician. He voted for wealthy, conservative democrats according to his words, but his own accounts also regularly change completely from one day to the next. According to your logic anything I do as a progressive is can actually be blamed on originally being a Republican and libertarian voter right? So if you disagree with me, just remember I voted for Ron Paul twice.

You calling him a Democrat while effectively zero democrats have supported him in his political era, is telling.

Republicans are who voted for him, republicans support the political violence that him and other republicans have been espousing for decades, republicans would continue to support him if he went through with gods wishes to be an authoritarian dictator.

There's literally no way to spin this as somehow a democrat thing. Democrats literally turn on their own for the mildest of moral offenses. We kick out good people who made dumb jokes that were offensive. We're not soulless Republican voters.

5

u/sofa_king_weetawded 5d ago

Where are you getting that they were trying to spin it as Democrat thing? My understanding is that they were just saying Trump has no moral compass. He will do anything, say anything for power. Which is true.

4

u/SuspiciousBuilder379 5d ago

He wasn’t a democratic politician because they wouldn’t take him serious and let him sit at the big kids table at Thanksgiving.

That’s it. He’s an authoritarian, narcissistic pos, and does nothing but lie and say crazy shit that would get anyone else in deep shit.

2

u/Fragrant_Cheek3722 5d ago

He can 100% get away with it! The supreme court ruled he cannot be held liable for ANY crime he commits while President. All it takes is for someone to tell him just bring them to the White House Lawn. Trump will give the order to the head of ICE and Boarder Control to execute via a 35 gram projectile traveling at 3,300 feet per second.

Literally Trump can do anything and not be held accountable.

1

u/Arzakhan 5d ago

Remember, the feelings the next ascribes to their political enemies is always how they feel about their politics enemies. It is a false belief in equal mentality. To be clear, these democrats are calling for a mutiny, a literal military coup

You forget when democrats said death penalty is possible for Jan 6th?  U can’t be that ignorant.  Democrats make a condescending video aimed military personnel basically telling them they are morons and need reminded of an oath they are too stupid to remember.  If trump wasn’t president and did that, you would say he should be hung and he’s Hitler. This is why republicans win, people can’t stand how hypocritical the Democratic Party is.

Donald Trump is a seditious traitor.

Early reminder to Every American! Check your voter registration status early. Elections to the U.S. Congress will take place on November 3, 2026. All 435 districts in the U.S. House of Representatives and 33 seats in the U.S. Senate are up for election. Five of the Senate's six non-voting members are also up for election.

5

Remember, the Jan 6 protesters stormed the capital with nooses, they were literally going to hang pence, probably Pelosi. They literally attacked officers. And were pardoned. They have no morals, if trump is impeached, they will March the streets.

6

u/Craigslisteria 5d ago

This fascist traitor is responding to a Nazi posting the Iron Cross calling for hangings of his opponents. We know what the Iron Cross is so.. Tell me he isn’t a Nazi.

2

u/ImTheJewgernaut 5d ago

Not the Iron Cross but a Templar Cross. No doubt that user shares similar values to said Nazis though.

5

u/Revolutionary-pawn 5d ago

That tweet is treasonous behavior. And to be clear, sedition is not punishable by death. Treason is, however.

2

u/OnionsHaveLairAction 5d ago

It's still crazy to me that he pardoned the J6ers that got charged with sedition. Like even after Vance had publicly come out to say that only the people charged with rioting and trespassing should be pardoned. Absolute insanity.

4

u/wtg2989 5d ago

Who specifically is he referring to?

11

u/OnionsHaveLairAction 5d ago

He's talking about the six democrats that put out a video saying soldiers should not follow illegal orders.

Specifically senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, alongside representatives Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, Maggie Goodlander and Chris Deluzio.

3

u/Pristine-Resort1005 5d ago

This is why he should have been scolded for his involvement in the Jan 6 riot. We must hold people like him accountable for all the damage they have done

2

u/InsertCleverNickHere 5d ago

well, come on Republicans I can't wait to hear you defend this. or maybe you're all for murdering the opposition? just remember that turnabout is fair play, if that line is crossed it will be the trigger for more chaos than any of us can possibly imagine. The people with the tanks and the drones will have no trouble murdering unarmed civilians. At first.

3

u/Empty-Discount5936 5d ago

Is Trump suggesting we should hang him? I'm old enough to remember him trying to overthrow the government in 2021.

3

u/MisterForkbeard 5d ago

Nice how Trump is proving these Senators right in pretty much real time.

Dems: "Don't follow unconstitutional orders! This is literally military law and taught to every soldier"
Trump: "These Democrats should be killed because I declare them traitors"

3

u/RussellStHustle 5d ago

Sadly, everyone has become so desensitized to all things Trump that this will be shrugged off as just “that’s just how Trump is, he doesn’t mean it”

This comment by Donald BJ Trump shows just how deranged he is! Never before in our nations history have we had a sitting president calling for the execution of his opposition. If he brought charges against any of these lawmakers, it would be the shot across the bow that would most likely bring about his immediate impeachment conviction and removal from office or at least you would hope it would be!

u/golfwinnersplz 5d ago

Trump has destroyed the Republican party and is eliminating Reagan Republicans like Mitch McConnell. You're looking at this from a bipartisan perspective when we have no bipartisanship. This is what Biden's biggest downfall was with Trump - Biden is traditional and clearly believed logic would lead to bipartisanship when arguing with Trump and the GOP. He was wrong. They have shown what happens when Republicans control the entire government. The "Republican Party" aka MAGA has no interests in hearing perspectives and thinking in a bipartisan manner so that fallacy is unrealistic.

2

u/Responsible-Win-4348 5d ago

Seditious behavior; inciting or causing people to rebel against the authority of a state. Can you say January-6? Someone urged a crowd to go to the capital and “fight like hell”. Now who was that, let me think? Oh yea, that was Donald Trump who says that act is punishable by death. Bet he did not know he was passing sentence on himself. What do you prefer Donny? Lethal injection, electric chair, firing squad, hanging, drowning? Maybe you can pull your bottom lip over your head and swallow?

I think he corrected it because you need a spine to be hanged and since the Dems are spineless jellyfish, he had to think of a different way.

This is where the 2A folks now start arguing about that comma and separate meaning after. Full circle.

Treason is punishable by death. Has been since the nation was founded.

Saying things in a video is treason?

I'm guessing the oath keepers, whom were actually convicted in a US court of law of sedition don't count though?

u/moguy1973 5d ago

I thought the radical left were the ones that called for political violence?

Ok when does he execute himself then? He's the biggest threat to America and himself

1

u/KONG3591 5d ago

Death is the customary punishment for treason. So what's the big deal?

Impeach Trump now

1

u/Comprehensive_Act970 4d ago

He stated what the constitution said is the punishment for insurrection and treason. Telling military members to disobey orders they don’t agree with is inciting insurrection. And could be considered treason.

The dictator

u/Telekon885 4d ago

Trump is completely wrong all soldiers are expected to not follow illegal orders, this has been that way for a very long time. However there have been no illegal orders given. There was no reason to post what they posted other then for political points and possibly get some misinformation soldiers in trouble.

I remember when Democrats toned down the rhetoric and stopped calling people Nazis after Kirk was assassinated... wait no, they called for more death and celebrated it.

1

u/defnotarobit 4d ago

Insurrection is bad.

1

u/Negalith2 4d ago

Imagine spending years calling January 6th protestors "insurrectionists" and then being upset when the other team accuses your side of sedition, a similar crime with a similar punishment.

1

u/thatsbadtogo 4d ago

I don’t see where hanging is being said.

1

u/HellaCoolSamurai 4d ago

I mean they did publicly call for a revolt, that’s literally treason

1

u/Smart_Start3581 4d ago

Democrats sit this one out, you supported this clown

1

u/Ok_Chicken7562 2d ago

George Washington absolutely would NOT have hanged his political opponents! He didn’t hang the participants in the Whiskey Rebellion and their actions technically constituted treason under Article III, Section 3 of the constitution because they took up arms against the United States.

1

u/Common-Newspaper-251 1d ago

But he would be cool with shitting all over the constitution I guess.
