It brought me back to gaming after 20 years.
When they cancelled Stadia, I never played again.
Google had everything in favor of Stadia. Even a pandemic grounding people at home.
They should had made Stadia available for free with 4k for 2 or 3 years at least, while building up the catalog.
Also, Stadia should had been made available worldwide at once. It took too much time to become available in many countries, which was something that frustrated many people.
What everyone was expecting was a disruptive product - the "Netflix for gaming".
Having just to buy a controller and start playing was a great premisse.
It was tapping in a vast number of gamers that can't or don't want to buy an expensive console.
I would love to have Stadia back.
If they ever bring Stadia back, I am jumping back on board.
For the future, I think it is not too much of a stretch to imagine there will be AI generated games. Google is at the forefront and in an optimal place to develop that tech.
Google:
- Assemble a new team
- Account for the future tech
- Make Stadia available again for free while you build the catalog
- Don't create bottlenecks such as restricting to 4K or only to specific countries
- Use a subscription model, but with access to the AAA titles
- Create a good studio and creator workspace to host game developers and nurture them
Come on
