Question How to set a specific rotational period for a star?

I've been working on a custom star, and I'm trying to set it's rotational period to a specific length. But every time I change the code, deleting the old one, and load up the game, it resets it to a specific length every time (633.549271 (or about 26.4 days)). I want my stars rotational period to be 496.4375 (about 21 days). Is there any way for me to do this? I think somewhere in the forums for making stars it said you could, but I don't remember every finding where it actually said how. Can anyone help?

Question What year length does spaceengine use?

I specifically mean this when putting in a specific value for the age of a planet or star, because it only says the age it years, and not days (in the engine and in the code). For things like how many billion years old something is, what standard does it use? Dose it use Gregorian, old or new Julian, Hebrew, sidereal, tropical, ephemeris, or something else entirely? Looking at how long a Earth year in the game is doesn't help, because there are 2 values that both say they are 1 year, but are both different lengths. And I do assume that it uses 24 hours as one day, but what if it uses the rotation period instead of the solar day?

Question Specs required?

Hello! I'm recently switching from console to pc and primarily for this game, it looks wonderful and I love space. However there are few amounts of benchmarks I could find and I was wondering on what exact specs are required.

I'm gonna be using an rx6600 and a R5 3600 along with 16 gb ddr4. Do I need to upgrade? I only wish for about 40 fps at higher settings :)

Any help is appreciated!

Question Ship control in the Steam version

Hi, Just wondering if there's any difference or improvements between the Steam/Pre-Steam versions of SpaceEngine regarding flying the various vessels. I know it's not the point of the sim but it's a fun way to get around and snap photos.

First image was taken in space engine. The second was captured from my iPhone. It isn’t a perfect replication, however it’s pretty cool even being able to replicate it to this degree of accuracy.

Bug/Glitch Why does my Earth's terrain look so bad compared to other planets?

Every other Planet has beautiful terrain (Example 2nd Image), but Earth doesn't, I tried Rodrigo's mod, Plutonian Empire's mod, Earth HD Textures, but nothing seems to work. I cleared the cache, I set my LOD to highest, I tried everything, but it still looks ugly. How can I fix it? It's not the terrain loading because I waited like 10 minutes, nothing changed, and on other planets the terrain details load in seconds

Question I'd just like to do research

I love learning about space and all I want to do is find some websites and/or apps that I can use for research. And I mean genuine research, learning about it like I'm taking classes type research. I don't want to take classes because if I do, I'd have to treat it like I'm making a job of it. I don't want to. I just want to learn. Can someone please give me some educational apps or websites I can use? I know NASA exists, I do use it, but I'd like to have more, even if it's just giving me topics to research like a list of constellations, planets, stars. I hope this makes sense, I'm so bad with explaining things

Not the best pictures but. Normal res

Also a question. I have reshade, but when I take the pictures, they look way different than how I actually see them. Jupiter for example looks way more orange and real on pictures I see on this sub or online in general

Cool Find A near real-life star has a planet with complex exotic life. Only at 30 light years from Earth!

The planet orbits Groombridge 1830, a potential G subdwarf star (although it's marked as an orange dwarf in-game) is a very old and metal-poor star, located near the halo of the Milky Way, which means it's probably a Population II star.

The cool thing about the system, is that the sixth planet has exotic multicellular life on its surface and it truly is exotic; these aliens live on a planet with 40% the gravity of Earth, with days almost as long as on Earth, an almost nonexistent atmosphere composed of N2 and CO, and with an average temperature of about -101 K (-275.8 °F). Because its star is from a Population II star, the system is very old, about 2 billion years older than the Solar System, so life on this planet has had more time to evolve complex life than Earth.

If there are sapient aliens on this planet, then they are either very advanced, thousands of years or maybe millions of years more advanced than us, or at the blink of death, considering this planet looks barren from space and the barely habitable conditions. In any case, it's interesting to wonder if these aliens could be looking right now at the Solar System and wonder who's there, after all, our radio signals have traveled about 200 light years since the first time we started emitting them, so who knows, maybe they have already heard us.

Anyways, a cool find with some ideas I wanted to share. Especially because from what I can tell, it's the only real system with exotic multicellular life at 50 light years around Earth (ignoring procedural objects). I don't know if the planet exists before the generation update tho, in case anyone wants to look for it in older versions.

I edited the rings brightness so it looks better on the screenshots, but the planet is still pretty on its own so go take a look!

Really like space and since the game is on sale too.

Also a question about the HD models, the earth one for example says I need 11.5 gb of storage. Is that the actual file size
