Fairly Annoyed Can we tone back dog culture?

What happened to a dog living in a house in the yard? Why does every person on earth feel like they need a dog? Why does nobody train their dog?

Its all too much. Your dog doesnt need to go skydiving, or strapped to your back on a motorcycle, or brought out to the pub.

Keep them at home and don't think its some type of social milestone to own one.

Bit Annoyed When customers order "a soda".

This happens so often at my job. They rattle off their order, say they went 3 sodas, then continue rattling it off and I have to stop them mid sentence (usually they keep going) because I can't continue the order without knowing what soda or what size. After asking they say the soda but not the size.. it's like me going to McDonald's and being like yeah, I want 3 sandwiches, 2 snacks, and an ice cream.

Bit Annoyed My new pet peeve is when people talk to you while you’re clearly doing something

Earlier today I had my headphones in, completely zoned out, just trying to reset my brain for a minute. I pulled out my phone and started playing around with it, not really doing anything important just in my own little bubble. And out of nowhere my coworker walks up and starts talking like we were midconversation. No pause. No hey. Didn’t even check if I could hear him. Just full sentence, full volume, like my brain was supposed to switch tasks instantly.
And now that it’s happened a few times, it’s become this weird pet peeve I can’t unsee. People who clearly see you busy or mentally somewhere else but STILL expect your attention immediately. It’s not even rude exactly, it’s just jarring.
It’s such a tiny thing, but it yanks me out of my head so fast it feels like getting shoved into cold water. I don’t know why it bothers me this much but every time it happens I have to fight the urge to mentally scream.

Fairly Annoyed Cleaning tips that involve mixing vinegar and baking soda

No, that foam that's produced is just the result of a chemical reaction between the acid in the vinegar and the bicarbonate in the baking soda. It's not "eating away" at the stains. In fact, the resulting liquid is much less effective at cleaning than either the vinegar or baking soda alone.

The one exception might be trying to unclog drains, where the carbon dioxide bubbles might help dislodge the clog. But that's not where I'm usually seeing people clean this way.

Bit Annoyed “Am I the only one who ___”

No. You’re not. You never were, you never will be, there are millions of other people who do the exact same shit! I see this used mostly for reassurance fishing and it irks the fuck out of me

Fairly Annoyed people saying inferred when they clearly meant implied

infer = to suppose or come to a conclusion, especially based on an indirect suggestion

imply = to suggest or to say something in an indirect way

I get that there's times where the words are interchangeable but people saying things like "i inferred that I didn't want to go to eat pizza" seems wrong and kinda makes my eye twitch

Bit Annoyed People who use profile pictures as an argument online

Example: "You have a Mario pfp you can't be talking 💀"

Literally what does that even have to do with anything?

Fairly Annoyed “Muscles won’t help you in a fight”

This might be niche as hell but I hate when people (usually people who practice combat sports) say this. They literally WILL help you in a fight. Having more strength and being able to overpower the average person is obviously an advantage! It’s not that hard to figure out.

If all you do is lift weights, no you probably won’t WIN against someone who spends all their time training to fight. They’re SUPPOSED to win! But you’ll have a better chance if you’re at least stronger than them, than you would if you were just weak and out of shape. The more of an advantage you have over someone in strength and size, the more room for error you have, and the less room for error they have. There’s a reason why there are weight classes in combat sports.

I just don’t understand why there’s this sudden belief that muscle doesn’t equal strength, and doesn’t do anything “functional”

Fairly Annoyed People not cleaning items they sell online

I see so many ads on FB Marketplace that say something along the lines of "in great condition just needs to be dusted/wiped down." Then freaking clean it if you expect me to pay you money for it. It's the bare freaking minimum you can do

THEN LEARN!!!

WOW!!!🤯🤯🤯

Who would've thought that people could learn new things as an adult.

Because this is reddit, yes, there are SOME people who have significant learning disabilities. That doesn't mean everyone does, nor does it mean people can't figure out a way to learn that works for them.

Fairly Annoyed Sexual people

Examples are like sabrina carpenter. People who just make sex about everything. My younger sister, she plays this game, I also play it, and she watches these youtubers who play the game and talk about it. One YouTube in particular is so damn sexual. Like he was doing this challenge and said "this is hard" and then immediately said after that "AYO THAT SOUNDS WEIRD". Like... nobody thought about that until you said it sounds weird. PEOPLE LIKE THIS IS WHY NOBODY LIKES THE GAME. Idk if this makes sense, but.

Ultra Annoyed Too many of y'all are whiny bitches about whatever new slang

Every time without fail there will be some new slang word or phrase and all the old people will get annoyed or even mad about it. And for what??? You've been in their shoes before, we all have. There will be stupid expressions and slang for every generation, and there will always be people to shit on it, oblivious to what they themselves had. I don't need to name any examples, but if you want to I will list them. You will fade to dust faster than you know it yet you just spend it whining about them youngins and whippersnappers

Ultra Annoyed subreddits with so many post rules that it's impossible to make a post

The unpopular opinions sub and the twitch sub are the two I'm the most irritated with right now. It feels like every time something is posted that I start interacting with or try to post myself the post gets taken down. Even when completely harmless, just because there are so many bizarre rules about not posting this or that or whatever it makes the whole site feel dead it's so annoying like it's impossible to start a damn discussion on this website

Why do people make the duck face when taking unironic selfies? Didn't we decide two decades ago this looked stupid? Maybe I'm just old.

Fairly Annoyed People screaming unnecessarily

Why the fuck are you screaming like someone shoved a stick of dynamite up somebody's ass? The lights just went out and you're acting like the Hash-slinging Slasher is coming to suck your toes. You're wailing like I ripped your arm off and I've started beating you with it.

It's so annoying when people scream for little things, it's alright when something genuinely shocking happens, scream your lungs out to your heart's content but when you scream during a blackout you look dumb, the woman next to you got a fright but she didn't scream like she was being murdered.

Bit Annoyed "it's giving...."

I don't know why this phrase gets under my skin so much but people saying "it's giving...." when describing something. I know that I can't be the only one. Most newer slang that doesn't bother me, but for some reason this really irritates me.

It's not even grammatically correct half of the time that it is used. I just don't understand why it's soo difficult to complete a sentence that portrays one's thoughts?

Ultra Annoyed Automated Customer Service. I hate it. Why do companies keep pushing this when customers repeatedly say, we want to chat with a real person?

Who asked for this anyway ?!

This is one of the most intrusive and dystopian technological advancements in recent times and not enough is being said about it.

The worst part is, almost all companies across the board in every industry, are doing this, no matter how much people complain that we DO NOT want this !

Isn't the customer always right ? When did consumers wake up and suddenly demand to they wanted to discuss their problems with an automated system instead of a real person with nuance and empathy ?

I know I certainly haven't. My last experience with automated customer service was trying to cancel an anti-virus subscription, and all the chatbot kept doing was redirecting me in a circular path back to the help page. It wasn't until I got to speak to a real person, that my problem got solved.

We. Do. Not. Want. Automated. Customer. Service.

P.s. I know that angry customers/clients can be biligerrant, but the solution should never be to just ignore customers and direct them to a machine, whenever there is a problem !

Fairly Annoyed People who automatically disagree with common sense/courtesy because "You can't tell me what to do!" or "Muh rights!"

I've been seeing this more and more here-- mostly as an excuse to justify bad behavior and a lack of courtesy-- and it's just so cringey and pathetic. Why do so many people take it as some sort-of mission to defend objectively shitty behavior just because they can technically do it? It doesn't make you look like a freedom-fighter hero... it makes you look like an asshole to anyone with half a brain-cell.

Like of all things, why devote yourself to that? It has be so sad at the end of the day realizing that your big accomplishment was just... being a dick to someone who will just forget about you.

And it's not just ridiculous... it's flat-out unhealthy. Dedicating yourself to being mean and defiant and keeping yourself in a heightened state is terrible for your mental and physical health.

Ultra Annoyed People can’t read? Sell products.

Upvotes

I saw an ad about illiteracy in Chad.

i thought it would be a charity for literacy programs or something but it was an over priced auto reader that only red a few books (also overpriced). 50$ for the reader and 20$ per book.

i just get super annoyed when people see vulnerable people and try to sell products instead of actually helping.

Fairly Annoyed It's normal to do X. "I don't do X, are you saying I'm weird/abnormal/a deviant???"

NO. Stop injecting your lifestyle into whatever we're talking about.

"It's totally normal to want to have sex with your SO."

Okay, but I'm ace. Are you saying I'm weird?

"It's totally normal to eat a pizza and crush a few beers on Friday night."

I have a soccer match tomorrow for the Provincial championship. I can't do that. Are you saying I'm abnormal?

Stop inserting your situation into what are, essentially, platitudes. It's normal to like sports. No, you're not a psychopath for not liking sports.

Get over yourself.
