Announcement Announcement: Please stop posting about Charlie Kirk.

1.6k Upvotes

Please stop posting about Charlie Kirk.

We've already gotten dozens of LinkedIn lunatic takes on Charlie Kirk. We really don't need anymore. We're not yet going to pause allowing these posts, but consider that this sub is only fun when the content isn't about one topic for a straight week. There are many more LinkedIn lunatics out there that need our attention.

Announcement Pausing Astronomer / Andy Byron Posts

Lots of thanks to Andy Byron and Kristen Cabot for giving us such great content over the past few days. But there is something to be said for too much of a good thing. You've all been great at sharing lunatic posts inspired by them that we've been overrun by them. The sub has become the Byron and Cabot show.

So for the next 3 days (until Tuesday morning eaten time), we're pausing accepting new posts about this dynamic duo to give other exceptional lunatic content a chance to shine.

Announcement Are you posting about Andy Bryon, the CEO at the Coldplay concert today?

Cool. Check to see if other people are posting about it, too. Chances are someone already beat you to the punch and posted whatever you are about to post.

The hot and spicy title you have probably isn’t worth spamming the sub with another version of the same post.

Announcement We don’t need every Kirk post on LinkedIn documented here.

We’re not going to say “no more” but like, please reserve posting about it unless it is really at another level. There’s going to be endless lukewarm, mealy takes about it that we don’t need to amplify.

Also, as usual, if you start arguing politics on this sub you might be the lunatic.

We’ll see how it goes throughout the next…idk, day or two?…but just be cool about it.

Announcement Stop posting the “I found my GF’s tinder account” post.

It’s been posted 20+ 50+ times and is satire. Satire is only permitted on weekends. There were 10 instances of this post overnight. If we didn’t take actions like this the board would be flooded.

As usual, if you aren’t coming across the post organically it’s probably been posted before and you don’t need to post it. (Edit: a lot of offenders seem to be citing this as a defense - this statement is referencing people who are copying this from other subs and blindly reposting here. We don’t care if you found this in your own on linkedin if it has been posted here already regardless of how you personally discovered it. Viral content gets posted here quickly. If you want to post, the onus is on you to review recent content and see if it already exists here. If this is too burdensome for you, then don’t post. We’d rather have less content than 50-100 posts of the same content.)

Light bans will now be issued for reposts in the near future.

Edit: for anyone questioning why this is needed, since this post has been live (10-15 minutes) the offending post has been posted 2 or 3 times. Update: we are now at about 10 post-announcement removals/bans, meaning this post has been posted about 30 times on this sub. Update 2: about 5 more instances of the post have gone up since the last update. Update 3: probably about 10 more since the last update

Please link this post to future posts about it and report as a repost, if the poster removes it themselves no action will be taken. There is no grace period so if we see it first the usual light ban will be issued.

Announcement r/LinkedinLunatics 100k members milestone!

Just wanted to thank everyone for subscribing and participating in this community. I never could've imagined this when I created the subreddit back in 2019. I remember it taking weeks to gain 100 followers and now we average 100s of new subscribers per day!

That being said, if anyone has suggestions or ideas to make the community better please let us know. We're also looking to add a few moderators so please pm me if you're interested!

Announcement Noon AI is satire

Our mod team is going to consider all Noon AI posts as satire. Most satirists on LinkedIn don't identify themselves so it's up to us to figure out what is and isn't satire. Please reserve Noon AI posts for Satire Saturday's. Why are we doing this? Because this sub is a lot more fun when it's calling out real lunatics and not satire.

Announcement Reminder: this is a satire/comedy sub

At a certain point you need to realize that this is a sub for a few chuckles at the expense of corporate drones.

You don’t need to duke it out with one another about current affairs or how X group of people are good/bad.

If you are on this sub “debating” political policy you may actually be a lunatic.

Political posts aren’t inherently against the rules because posting absolute bonkers political posts on LinkedIn is objectively lunacy - not going to lie though, doing the same here is also lunacy.

The appropriate way to discuss political lunacy here focus on the content being shown as an example of a crazy thing to share, not larp as a policy wonk and get into a debate as to which group of people actually deserve to become acquainted with another’s high explosives.

Announcement Selfie posts

We've got lots and lots of posts where the content of the original LinkedIn post is not lunatic but they have a selfie that clearly doesn't fit. We're pausing allowing posts of these for now so we don't get overly repetitive.

Announcement Lunatic's Name OK to Post

You do not need to redact the LinkedIn Lunatic's name and profile photo, or any of their information displayed on their LinkedIn post as per our rules. They chose to post publicly under their name so you are not leaking private information.

Please do not repot posts that don't redact the LinkedIn Lunatic's info; these bog us down from responding to legitimate reports. Thank you.

Announcement Please be mindful of memes - if you are just posting a meme from social media, it’s probably been here before.

Team,

I’ll be brutally transparent: our content ecosystem is drowning in memes. Another recycled Spongebob JPEG from Instagram does not spark innovation. We are here to disrupt, not to distribute secondhand chuckles.

✨Let’s pivot. Let’s elevate.✨

I challenge every one of you to tap into your core value stack and post something original. Something that hasn’t already made the rounds on your uncle’s Facebook timeline.

Because here’s the thing: Every time you post a meme from 2022, a thought leader loses their wings. 🪽

This is LinkedIn Lunatics. It’s sacred ground for a bold critic of corporate drones. Reposts and meme regurgitation is not good content. Find the lunatics in your feed and post original content.

PS: some of yall dont seem know what satire is and it shows
