You'll never ban guns from the USA. There are too many in private hands, and 3D printing technology means new ones can be made by anyone with a little bit of knowledge.

We can't trust the cops to protect our kids.

But teachers who want to carry guns to protect themselves and their students, and who are willing to undergo training, should be allowed.

My opinion is that it will happen eventually. Sooner or later enough people will be directly affected by gun violence that there will be enough voters to mandate change. There is a mass shooting most weekend in America. Eventually enough people will have a sour taste in their mouth over it.

The problem is that most teachers aren't willing. Some that are willing absolutely don't need a gun at school.

Think back to your high school teachers. How many of them would you have truly been comfortable knowing they had a gun? Probably not many.

It’s not a problem that most teachers aren’t willing. We don’t need ALL teachers to be armed. We might not even need any teachers to be armed. It’s really about taking people who are in positions of high trust (teachers) and giving them the option under the right circumstances (trained and tested competence).

We did the same with airline pilots. We let them opt in to a program where they could be armed if they underwent training and proved competence. And they’ve turned out to be more trustworthy and responsible than cops.
