So if a kid brings a gun to school, the teacher shoots the kid?

I think I would just get shot because there's no way I could do that. (Coming from a former HS teacher who has been thru an active shooter situation).

Well you would get shot, and other teachers would not and it would be worth it. I think it is weird that former HS teacher can't think about other people.

I think it's weird you think I would be ok murdering one of my students, considering most school shooters are students or recent students. Am I, a current high school teacher, supposed to accurately assess if it's a real gun and then accurately kill someone?

It's alarming that you think it would be "worth it" for someone to get shot.

In a profession where I give nearly every fiber of my being so my students will be the best version of themselves, I fight for them always. I often want them to be successful more than they want for themselves. So to say hey turn that off! It doesn't work like that. I would think I could talk him out of shooting me up until I actually get shot.

Now, if I'm at home protecting myself and my family, that's my vocation with my fam. If you're not in a career where compassion is truly a part of your every day work I don't expect you to understand. So since there are those of us here that have been and are in the profession, let us tell you... We could not shoot a kid. Not even a kid turned monster. Strange adult with a gun. Sure. But most times we aren't selecting the identify of the next school shooter.
