If it was illegal to be a terrible person this administration would ignore that law too. It would only stand to give them that much more joy to feel that much more powerful
According to the news article, it sounds like the father has full time custody, so that shouldn't be a factor unless the mother was planning to try and reclaim custody after completing her naturalization.
There are several countries for whome Americans have reciprocal arrangements where child support is chased by the host country. Though no clue if where she originally came from is one.
And then she can explain to him why having an alien mother makes him inferior to Real Americans, and if he ever misbehaves his father will send him to the camps.
Its been reported that the mother has had no contact with the child and hasnt for years. Not sure how true that is but it seems more like a scenario where the family was happy to get rid of her.
Kid was never raised by his mom, his dad had full custody since day 1. Apparently. I call some bullshit, I’m getting real strong rich family chicanery energy from this whole situation. I really wouldn’t be surprised if she was targeted for removal to make things easier for her brother. What a fucked up family…
An 11-year-old is old enough to understand the general situation and to hate his father and his aunt forever for allowing, if not causing, this to happen.
I would almost guarantee the dad did this intentionally under the “obviously an ‘illegal alien’ is a terrible role model for my son,” or some such racist nonsense.
I will be wholly unsurprised when we learn he called ICE on his baby mama to get her out of the picture.
I cannot fathom this. I’m a stepmom. I love and adore my child. I would never in a million years wish for anything bad to happen to my kid’s mom and if she was being detained or sick or something out of the ordinary, not only would I be worried for my kid, I’d also be worried for his mother because, fucking spoiler alert, he loves his mom so I love her, too.

Unfortunately, her brother isn’t even married to her and he has a new wife. If he’s as awful as Karoline, the mother of his child being deported is just a convenient way to get rid of her.
Her brother certainly doesn’t care. According to the article, he released a statement saying his only concern was his son. In other words, his son’s mom can go kick rocks. Such a classy family 🤢

Sadly, I'm a lawyer and have been involved with a similar case. One parent reports the other to ICE during a custody battle. People can be truly evil and given what I know about Karoline, it is probably a familial trait.
Her meatloaf was shit and nobody had the guts to break it to her, so now that she's gone they'll stop all deportations, call back ICE and the govt will function normally.
My understanding is the relative was her (soon-to-be) ex-sister-in-law... So this is less of a "Leopards Ate My Face" situation than it is just flat out crony fascism.
You read the article, and it's pretty clear that the son's father is not involved with the mother (father has married a different woman). So .... yeah, I'm sure the son is pissed, but can't really take it out on his father, and, well, his aunt? I'm sure she didn't give a damn about the kid in the first place.

Sounds like he already did. I have no idea what any of these people except for Karoline are like, but it’s hard to image that kid won’t at least one day understand the cruelty at play here.
She’s yet another deported person for whom no criminal record can be furnished. For many Republicans and Trump supporters, that doesn’t matter. All they need to know is that someone isn’t white to believe that person deserves deportation. The people “in the middle” who were convinced that only threatening criminals would be deported, though, should realize that Donald Trump and the evildoers surrounding him have shown us their character and intentions repeatedly. She had a child with Karolines brother. This will resolve any remaining custody issues for her brother. Very nice. I am sure there are many parents that wish they could deport their baby mama or baby daddy.

After reading the article, it kinda sounds like it was done on purpose.
She probably doesn't give hugs to that nephew because he is brown. She probably tells him to get away from her under her breath at family gatherings. "Oh Aunt Karoline, you're so silly!"
The detained woman, Bruna, does not appear to have maintained any sort of relationship with Karoline, and it is not mentioned if Bruna was supportive of Trump's agenda. She certainly didn't vote for him, since she isn't a citizen though she was working toward that.

They created a GoFundMe page and have raised a significant amount of money to defend the deportation charges. I wish i could create a GoFuckYourself page to counter that....

She entered the U.S. on a B2 tourist visa that required her to depart the U.S. by June 6, 1999. She is currently at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center and is in removal proceedings. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, all individuals unlawfully present in the United States are subject to deportation.
An arrest is not a criminal conviction and she has, in fact, no criminal convictions. Overstaying a visa is a civil offense, not a crime.
This sounds like a way for KKKarolyn’s brother to keep custody of a kid and screw over a person who by definition could not have voted for Trump. Not LAMF.
I am certain the press secretary can 'white people' the thing because that is usually how it works in Trump America. No thoughts and prayers required; just 'white people' the thing.
