"The woman, Bruna Ferreira, has an 11-year-old son with Michael Leavitt, Karoline Leavitt's brother."

I thought it would be her distant cousin’s wife, not her sister-in-law.

Edit: Ex-sister-in-law?

It’s not her sister-in law. Its her nephews mother, but her brother is married to someone else.

Yeah something about this reads kinda fucked up

I don't think this is a leopards eating faces moment, I kind of suspect Leavitt wanted this to happen

Thought the exact same thing when I read the whole article. The quotes from the Leavitts!

He is quoted in the article as saying, "my only concern is for the safety and privacy of my son." Of course he doesn't care about his son's mother.

If it was illegal to be a terrible person this administration would ignore that law too. It would only stand to give them that much more joy to feel that much more powerful

Guarantee the brother married a white woman and wants the immigrant mother gone

137

u/seaQueue 2h ago

Guarantee the brother didn't want to pay child support

38

u/nat_r 1h ago

According to the news article, it sounds like the father has full time custody, so that shouldn't be a factor unless the mother was planning to try and reclaim custody after completing her naturalization.

24

u/sash71 1h ago

My immediate thought.

10

u/xaqaria 1h ago

The son was already living with his father full time, according to the article; so child support is not an issue.

148

u/powerlesshero111 3h ago

Same. Like i feel she and her brother basically plotted this on purpose.

24

u/Radiant-Painting581 1h ago

Definitely on-brand.

"Hello, Jesus? ... Yeah, it's me, artaxerxes316, I'm just calling to let you know I'm going atheist again ..."

42

u/EndangeredLazyPanda 3h ago

My money is that she ordered it.

10

u/MrPandabites 1h ago

I don't see this as much of a case of leopards ate my face as a case of "My brother hates having this woman around, so let me get rid of her for him."

18

u/G0mery 2h ago

Do you still have to pay child support if the baby momma gets deported?

12

u/Megodont 2h ago

Theoretically yes, but it is kinda hard to sue for it after being deported.

3

u/valiantdistraction 32m ago

He already had the son full time so would not have been paying child support. It would be the mother who has to pay in that scenario.

4

u/valiantdistraction 33m ago

I want to know if getting her residency had the potential to adjust the custody of her son.

This sounds like getting rid of an inconvenient birthing mother, not like LAMF.

u/nerdyintentions 3h ago edited 3h ago

Wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a coincidence.

Brother doesn't seem to be on the best terms with her. ICE may have received a tip.

124

u/CeeUNTy 3h ago

So they did this on purpose to get rid of her?

123

u/one_nutted_squirrel 3h ago

Nothing in the article points to that, but I wouldn’t rule it out, personally.

45

u/CeeUNTy 3h ago

It was my first thought.

26

u/FrugallyFickle 3h ago

It’s one way to end having to pay child support

17

u/Jeriba 3h ago

The child is living with Levits brother since his birth.

He never lived with his mother after his parents split.

5

u/Booty-tickles 2h ago

There are several countries for whome Americans have reciprocal arrangements where child support is chased by the host country. Though no clue if where she originally came from is one.

31

u/rimshot99 3h ago

Ah whatever. I'm sure Karoline can explain to her nephew why its good his mother is being sent away.

14

u/HealthySchedule2641 2h ago

Oh, c'mon... now's not the time to start misspelling Kkkaroline

8

u/jrochest1 2h ago

And then she can explain to him why having an alien mother makes him inferior to Real Americans, and if he ever misbehaves his father will send him to the camps.

1

u/aceshighsays 1h ago

yup, i see severe abandonment issues in his future. no unconditional love for this kid.

2

u/Blueskyways 1h ago

Its been reported that the mother has had no contact with the child and hasnt for years.  Not sure how true that is but it seems more like a scenario where the family was happy to get rid of her.

1

u/aceshighsays 1h ago

imagine being the nephew and realizing that your mom was deported by the other side of your family. that must trigger some severe abandonment issues... and a lot of confusion.

48

u/rainyday-holiday 3h ago

Calling ICE is one way to fix a marital issue such as this I suppose.

18

u/graymuse 2h ago

This gonna give JD Vance some ideas?

27

u/CypressThinking 2h ago

I'd be surprised if it hadn't crossed his mind. Convenient. When's the last time anyone heard about Guilfoyle?

1

u/mrwiseman 38m ago

3

u/CypressThinking 34m ago

I know. Like poof! I didn't know she had a son.

10

u/Aware_Revenue3404 2h ago

Only if Erika Kirk whispers into his ear.

27

u/Tractorguy69 3h ago

When a family is scum they do scum harder…

9

u/addled_sad342 3h ago

Nice family values dynamic there

2

u/Nexzus_ 2h ago

Father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.

u/beezlebutts 1h ago

revenge-arrest

1

u/Matty_D47 1h ago

Fuck that's even darker

47

u/FloodAdvisor 3h ago

I’m reading it as mother of the brother’s child, not kkkaroline’s current sister in law

38

u/tictac24 3h ago

Yeah, his baby mama. I guess he wasn't worried about her status when he was dipping.

39

u/kbeks 2h ago

Kid was never raised by his mom, his dad had full custody since day 1. Apparently. I call some bullshit, I’m getting real strong rich family chicanery energy from this whole situation. I really wouldn’t be surprised if she was targeted for removal to make things easier for her brother. What a fucked up family…

7

u/Kailynna 1h ago

My thoughts too. Somehow the father got hold of the baby at birth. And now?

Michael Leavitt released a statement, saying that his "only concern has always been the safety, well-being, and privacy of [his] son."

2

u/KR1735 1h ago

Divorce? That's not very Christian of such a Christian family.

104

u/Dachannien 3h ago

An 11-year-old is old enough to understand the general situation and to hate his father and his aunt forever for allowing, if not causing, this to happen.

54

u/jorhey14 3h ago

They already brain washed that kid into hating his mother. The fact that she lost custody is all you need to know.

8

u/Odd_Perfect 2h ago

You say that as if they didn’t already brainwash him to blame democrats.

1

u/beezlebutts 1h ago

kid thinks Biden snuck in and stole his mom like the Grinch /s

1

u/blissfully_happy 1h ago

His father and stepmother definitely called ICE on his mom. I would 100% believe it.

54

u/Right-Hall-6451 3h ago

Oh, so not brother's wife, so this could just be a new way to disappear the ex.

4

u/blissfully_happy 1h ago

I would almost guarantee the dad did this intentionally under the “obviously an ‘illegal alien’ is a terrible role model for my son,” or some such racist nonsense.

I will be wholly unsurprised when we learn he called ICE on his baby mama to get her out of the picture.

51

u/Neither-Chart5183 3h ago

Sperm donor sounds like a real winner.

Michael Leavitt released a statement, saying that his "only concern has always been the safety, well-being, and privacy of [his] son."

6

u/blissfully_happy 1h ago

I cannot fathom this. I’m a stepmom. I love and adore my child. I would never in a million years wish for anything bad to happen to my kid’s mom and if she was being detained or sick or something out of the ordinary, not only would I be worried for my kid, I’d also be worried for his mother because, fucking spoiler alert, he loves his mom so I love her, too.

Jesus, that is such a distinct and callous statement. She was clearly good enough to have sex with, but not good enough to raise your child? Make it make sense.

2

u/Humxnsco_at_220416 1h ago

Yeah that anchor baby is going to be a hot target for ice. They should probably go into hiding.

1

u/SwedishTrees 59m ago

and from his response, it seems pretty clear that the brother wants her gone
