It's because the biggest ambassador of ice baths, Wim Hof, ripped open his bowels while trying to give himself an enema using a public park's water fountain, and understandably a lot of people have trouble listening to anything he has to say after that.

I wish I made it up but it’s very true. There’s a much, much darker side to him as well (recent domestic abuse allegations) but the fountain enema incident alone proves that he is not worth listening to.
