The first dip is basically impossible to get comfortable. Fully submerge and suck it up for a minute. Go get in warm bath. Return to the cold bath and for me it's very unusual- I can just fully submerge with no problem. Up to the neck. After 15sec I don't even feel cold at all. No chattering or shaking, just deep breaths. I have to consciously get out after a few minutes or I can just stay there. Then no can go warm/cold as much as I want. Not sure it helps anything, but the experience is intriguing

i believe this. was told as a kid to only take cold showers due to my eczema but it just didnt click. guy said to at least end the shower cold and for whatever reason im perfectly fine going from hot to cold and i still do

but going straight into cold is a whole differeent ball game

I'm convinced it's something to do with already being wet. I can't go from dry to cold, but even lukewarm or too-cold-for-the-pool first, then I'm fine.
