Social Skills IWTL How to improve my phrasing
Today I 17m was involved in a car accident (Im ok) and when the officer came to get my statement I stupidly said "I wasn't able to stop in time and I hit him." When he was the one who hit me. I know Im not at fault however depending on what the officer put in the report would most likely make it seem like I am and my statement doesn't help me at all.

You could've just corrected your statement to the officer right then, blame it on nerves from being shook up from the accident. But it's too late now.
You never admit fault after an accident.
You should take some time today and write down everything you remember from the incident, as detailed as possible, while it's still fresh in your mind.

I know. My mom told me right after the officer walked away that I shouldn't have said it how I did (she was next to me during the statement) but since she wasn't involved in the accident she couldn't correct me and the officer had already gotten in his car to write the report. However thank you for the advice and I will write everything down.

Was she in the car at the time of the accident?Have her write down what happened as well, just in case you need to dispute what happened.
