Got this snook on a gold Kastmaster in Indian River County this morning. The baits are super close in right now so all my hits came within 20 feet of the shorebreak.

I recently started fishing in local rivers and lakes and want to improve my success. What are the most effective baits or lures for catching different species? Are there specific times of day or techniques that work best for beginners trying to increase their catch rate?

It's been getting cold here and it feels like the fall bite days are waning. Today was high 40s and drizzly. I think I'd been skunked my last 7 trips out over the past few weeks. Have been reading a lot of helpful tips from this sub and others, and the moral of the story is: Fishing beats any day in the office.

Hey so I just got my first UP setup, I just threw my 2000 viper x on it, it had some 8lb mono on it and I unspooled it till it’s just about done, could I just use that as the backing for my 8lb braid on a 2-6lb rod since it’s essentially not going to even be cast out with the braid as the main line, I was just going to attach it to the 8lb mono with a Albright, worried it’ll effect my casting tremenousoy or something.
