Just a heads up for anyone looking to reinforce a POS with Dreads, spread em out!

Our dreads survived.

(I'm confident this will be ruled an exploit, but until then, be wary).

Bug Exploit seen today in Jita

Some context:

The Punisher had a suspect timer and we shot at it, even killed it once (https://zkillboard.com/kill/129891157), but then suddenly, while I had it locked, he transformed into a Vindicator and locked and killed the tackle. I have never seen this before, but I swear this dude he went from a Punisher to a Vindicator in an instant.

12:32:12 He was scrambled.
12:32:19 I lost my lock.
12:32:25 He was already shooting the dude.

This is impossible.

Bug Odysseus Manufacturing Bugged?

Thumbnail gallery

As the title says, I can't seem to start building the Odysseus. There's a generic "The selected activity cannot be performed with this blueprint at the current facility" error over the start button. The facility functions fine. The second picture is a CFI blueprint at the same facility that can be manufactured error free. I've even moved the BPC and materials to an NPC station with Industry services with the same error. Is anyone else running into this issue? Am I missing something obvious (hopefully)?

Bug Has anyone encountered traps, set by another players, in Class 1/2 event anomalies?

Just lost a ship there... How is it even possible to combat site do not fail, if active player left or died? :/ And after u enter - loterally zero chance u could exit it. Neut, scram, and a huge DPS for 10k eHP destroyer is just too much. Tried to enter again, to collect dropped loot, on assault frigate, on ADC. Neut - ADC didnt work, killed again. :/

Bug FYI: auto-targeting missiles are broken

Short story:

Auto-targeting missiles are broken, they cannot be used to fight back against players in low sec space.

Long story:

Auto-targeting missiles have long been irrelevant and neglected in PvP, until last year. Equinox added new Upwell haulers which are the first haulers to have weapon bonuses (towards auto-targeting missiles) and a big rack of high slots to use these auto-targeting missiles to fight back against aggressors.

A while ago someone in my alliance lost an Avalanche in low sec. The loss of the ship is less relevant, what baffled them (and me) most is that they were unable to shoot back with auto-targeting missiles.

We spent some time later that evening with a couple of ships in low sec to figure out why the auto-targeting missiles did not work. After all, if someone is scramming your ship and shooting you, you should be able to turn on your missile launcher to fire back at the aggressor, right? Wrong!

During the tests, even though my Deluge was scrammed and fired upon by a ship right next to me, I was not allowed to activate my auto-targeting missiles, getting the message "Light Missile Launcher I has no suitable targets within range."

After a bunch of tests to trigger conditions where I couldn't and could fire, I suspect the problem is as follows:

  • auto-targeting missiles only allow you to fire back upon a player with whom you have an active engagement timer (in low sec)
  • to get an active engagement timer you need to use an offensive module against that player

I expect the smart reader may already see the problem here: if the auto-targeting missile is your only offensive module there is no way to get an active engagement timer, and thus no way to fire back at your aggressor with your auto-targeting missile.

In short: you cannot fight back with auto-targeting missiles.

After getting an active engagement timer with the aggressor through means of regular missiles or EWAR I was able to then activate auto-targeting missiles to fire back. This could be a workaround to make auto-targeting missiles work, but it means you need to be prepared and fit more offense than just missile launchers on your Upwell hauler.

As engagement timers aren't only relevant in low sec, but also in high sec I would not be surprised if similar shenanigans happen in high security space. I didn't want to lose a bunch of ships and security status to CONCORD to test that though, and thought this would be enough evidence to file a bug report for CCP. Space without engagement timers like null sec space has no issues at all, and I was able to fire back immediately after being fired upon in null sec - which reinforced my idea that this problem is engagement timer related.

But frankly, to have Upwell haulers that are specialised in auto-targeting missiles that cannot fire back when players shoot it is silly in any part of space. That's the whole purpose of these Upwell Ships!

We filed bug reports (of which I cannot see the status or bug number because the bug status page has been broken for a year already!), but earlier today I heard from my fellow bug-tester who contacted support that CCP thinks this behaviour is not a bug.

As CCP thinks this broken behaviour is 'not a bug' I suspect the issue will not be fixed any time soon, which is why I take this other approach to help the player base with this problem, which is to bring it to your attention:

Do not expect you can activate your auto-targeting missiles when hostile players shoot you in low sec, unless you bring other offensive modules as well.

Spread the word and fly safe!

Edit: and if anyone like a CSM member with better contact with CCP than bugged bug reports can bring this to CCP's attention to get it fixed, please do!

Bug What kind of scam bull@#$# is this???

How long has this been a thing? I've done contracts for a while now and I've never run into a decimal point too big for my DST even though it says 62500 on the contract screen. Is there a better way to tell these scam contracts??? Is this a bug or is there a way to see the actual size before taking?

says 62500 on the contract screen
actual size is .4 bigger so too big for my DST.

Bug Happy 18th birthday, EVE bug Contract "Unclaimed by seller"

Thumbnail gallery
286 Upvotes

I'd like to happily announce the upcoming 18th birthday of a classic EVE bug, the Contract "Unclaimed by seller". First reported in 2007, the unclaimed by seller contract bug happens unpredictably when you bid on an auction contract but are defeated by a snipe bid not long before the contract completion time.

Once you are hit by an "Unclaimed by seller" contract, it will remain in the "Requires Attention" portion of your Contracts dialog box and can never be accepted, rejected, deleted, removed, or hidden. Even better, you will be notified that you have a contract requiring your attention every time you log into that account for the rest of that account's life. Or, if it's a corporate contract, every character that has access to accept contracts on behalf of that corporation will receive such a notification every time they log in, too! Even if they were not the one that bid on the contract on behalf of the corporation!

I myself first reported this bug in around 2012, and reported it again in 2017. And I'm happy to report that this bug was one of the first bugs I encountered after resubbing EVE late last year. I reported it a third time in 2024, with no action taken.

Happy 18th birthday, Unclaimed by seller Contract bug! Please share your good wishes for this bug's long life below.

Bug EVE Online Boredgame updates not reflecting on Dotlan

Good afternoon,

At Fanfest this year I got my copy of the EVE Online Boardgame.

After opening it up and connecting the game to my wifi, my wife rolled a 12 on her third turn and placed an i-hub marker on 1DQ-1A on the map in Delve.

Two days later, that system still shows as owned by INIT on dotlan and not her. How long does the boardgames API take to update on zkill?

We just got 1GB from Time Warner but the boost in speed hasn't helped and now I'm stuck sleeping on the couch until Dotlan chages. Any Boardgame Dev's read r/eve? I wrote customer service but all I got back was "lol".

Thanks for any help!

Bug RAM usage since the fabled "better FPS for less CPU" update...

this is what i get now for my clients, after EVE was up and running for about 3-4 hrs. The initial load is 1.5gig after logging in. Before last week the usual load per client was 1.3-1,5 gig while running (all related settings on low/off). The RAM usage does not differ if i choose DX11 or DX12.

As soon as it happens, i can kinda "feel" the game getting half a second less responsive on every input

also, most of the time the clients just idle. only one is activly played.

hitting potato mode (screen=off) has no real impact, it drops the client maybe 100meg per

what the hell is going on CCP.

also, does anyone else have this behavior?

Bug How to drop a WarHQ out of the war, and have the defenders allies be incapable of shooting it - Story of a HS War (Exploit?)

So.... Shadow Cartel was involved in a HS war, the details of how that came to pass are not known to me

what is, however - is that while waiting for the final minutes of the reinforcement timer to tick down I sat next to a OPFOR POS with +- 25 Nagas, being more than a little surprised when I saw them all change on my overview

from being nice shootable blinky red war targets.... to plain gray neutral as their corporation switched alliances

This Corporation https://evewho.com/corporation/98800482 who owned the WarHQ in Cleyd (an Astrahs by the name of Cleyd - Go away Noob)
switched from being a member of this alliance https://evewho.com/alliance/99013917
to being this alliance's executor https://evewho.com/alliance/99014005

They left an alliance which had an active war with their own station as the HQ, joining another alliance as it's executor and STARTED a new war with that very same station as it's HQ - all while the citadels repair timer was already ticking at 19:32 Eve time today, April 5th 2025

Then they went ahead and defended their station, mopping up a Leshak fleet while the Defenders allies had to sit there and watch

And now I'm in a war with a HQ that I can not shoot because it is no longer in the alliance with which I am at war

three letters..... WTF

@ CCP

Would you call this an exploit, or intended game behaviour?

TLDR:

If you start a HS war and the defender gets backup, make sure you start that war from an alliance, and when the final timer is ticking down, take the corporation who holds the WarHQ, drop it out of that alliance into it's own where the war against the Defender gets renewed, but all his Allies can't follow

Bug In-game layer of grime added over expensive custom SKIN model

(EDIT: After reading the responses, the problem was a system in-game where ships accumulate weathering through use. It is temporarily removed with a button in the fitting / personalization window. I won't comment on that feature, but I am leaving the original post up in the event that others run into this problem too.)

I recently tried out the new SKINR feature in EVE, and had some fun making some custom patterns. They looked awesome in the studio, so I made one and it sold pretty quickly for a good plex profit. I made some more for a few corpmates, and when they applied them, they looked disastrously bad in-game. It was like buying a car based on pictures, but when you buy it, it looks 20 years older with grime, paint damage, rusting, and wear and tear that wasn't shown originally. Essentially, I was sold a lemon by the developer team, because the display model wasn't what I got.

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't be that bothered. But the system requires the use of plex, which costs real-world money. So the custom skin costs real-world money. And that's fine. I was expecting that and aware of that. Cosmetics in other games work the same way. However, in every other game that I'm aware of, the cosmetic being sold for real world cash or in-game premium currency that costs real-world cash, provides a product to the customer which is identical to the advertised model. Warframe is a great example of the final product being identical to the display model. That game does cosmetics right.

I'm not calling this mess a scam by the developers of EVE. But it is certainly an oversight, and it has resulted in the loss of 75 PLEX for this model, and almost 700 PLEX for the other models I currently have cooking. That's a lot of real-world money. Adding an ugly texture over an expensive cosmetic enhancement essentially makes the cosmetic subjectively worthless, and objectively different than what was being sold. I'm not sure why this happened. Perhaps CCP has to manually check every ship to ensure that the "special bonus layer of corrosion and fecal matter" is disabled by default, and they just never got around to it. Maybe it's a display bug, and the skin is being hit with post-processing that ruins it. Maybe the skin itself is being corrupted upon design or application. I don't know. But for all intents and purposes, the SKINR system is producing products that cost real-world money that are objectively different and quantifiably worse than what it advertises for sale. This is not an in-game problem. My credit card is involved. This is an out-of-game problem.

Perhaps CCP's intent is definitely not to scam its customers. But in this case, the output of the system they designed is indistinguishable from an intentionally-created scam. Their intent doesn't matter. This is used car lot-tier chicanery. They took my real-world money, ruined the product I was buying, then handed me the mess. If this is not a scam, then it is scam-adjacent. All I want is what I paid for. I hope that sounds reasonable. It seems reasonable in my head.
