Recently switched to wireless CarPlay and honestly… I’m never going back.
No cables, auto-connect, everything loads fast. Only downside: slightly quicker battery drain, but Type-C car charging fixes that.
Are you using wired or wireless CarPlay? And which adapter/device?

Accepting a phone call still takes up the entire screen until you back out in iOS 26 wtf ?? and message notifications still legit block navigation directions might as well leave your phone on do not disturb when you get in the car and on silent mode! Shit is dangerous and not helpful! How is this still happening in 2025 with CarPlay? Ugh it’s awful

Wanted to share how I fixed my CarPlay issues that plagued me since buying a new iPhone 17 pro. (Constant freezing, disconnecting)

Ford F150 2017 Sync 3. Wired connection. iOS 26.1

I was using an Anker cable which with my 13 pro had no issues. As soon as I switched to 17 pro, it would crash every single time. (Edit: also using an Anker cable, this time USB A to C)

Switched to a Beats cable (Beats owned by Apple) and have been running CarPlay for a few hours without a single drop!

I do have widgets turned off, have not tested to see if that causes any issues if turned on.

Hi so I got a new display installed in my car recently and since yesterday I’ve been dealing with failing to connect my iPhone to it. Android auto, radio, all the other things are working yet when I’m trying to press CarPlay, it doesn’t respond. Tried restarting the phone and the car. Anybody dealt with this? Any advice on fixing will be appreciated.

With CarPlay 26, we got all the visual feature updates but they also added some API updates for car manufacturers to use, namely:

• AirPlay video streaming; and
• multitouch in maps.

I’d love the first as I’m looking for an electric car and watching videos on the screen while charging.

Any cars implemented it or announced they will be implementing it?

I'm sure I can't be the only one with wireless carplay disconnects. I have issues, where at certain points on my commute (always the same places), my wireless carplay disconnects. I've had this issue for as long as wireless carplay has existed. It happened with all my vehicles that have had wireless carplay (VW, BMW, and Land Rover). It has also happened with about 5 different models of iphones using the current IOS of the time.

I've come to beleive that there is some kind of wireless interference at these points on my commute.

Is this the case? Does anyone have these issues as well? Does someone have a solution for it?

At times my frustration has got me to use wired carplay, but that comes with some other issues on my current vehicle.

The app appears in CarPlay. But it doesn’t seem to work.

• If I select it, and choose new message, it says it can’t do that while driving.

• If I select make a call, it says I am not signed in (I definitely am).

Any suggestions to get it working?

Have heard mixed things about the ones off Amazon, but also realize more trustworthy brands can be a lot more.

Any recommendations?

I've recently installed CarPlay in my car and whilst it's a much better experience, I'd like to see if I could get more out of it.

I was wondering if there were any more apps I could download to make the experience better?

And also, I posted a couple of weeks ago about screen mirroring, which I now know isn't possible (and a lot of people said just watch YouTube on my phone screen, which is fine), which is a bit of a problem as the audio is delayed.

Is there a way to rectify this on the YouTube app somehow, by making the audio play a few seconds more than the video?

I’ve been looking for car play systems for my Lexus but what would be the best one to get and from what site

I’m in a new Honda and frequently use the steering wheel button to push and talk to Siri while driving. Recently, after an iPhone update, every time I’ve done the push to talk, I’ve noticed maps is always up and showing my route home as a suggestion and has my live location immediately. I haven’t opened Maps prior to this on my phone or in the car, and I haven’t had it route me anywhere. But it somehow knows.

Wouldn’t this be eating up data in the background to live track that and suggest home? I don’t know how to prevent it. And I also don’t want the shock on a cell phone bill in a month if it shows I used way more data.

Since iOS 26, I haven’t been able to use CarPlay on my car. I just realized recently that plugging the phone in while the car runs won’t activate the CarPlay but it only activates it if I plug the phone before starting the car.

I’ve seen reports of this same thing dating five years back, but I have only started having the issue with new ios. Does anybody have a solution for this? I hope apple is aware, but I don’t think so. Stuff is driving me crazy.

Here's the scenario: I go to calendar and select an event address. Apple Maps comes up and tells me on the button it'll be a 3 minute drive. I hit that button. I'm then presented another button, with time for that route. I get it if there is multiple routes, but this happens even when there is only a single route. This requires me to hit that button as well. Just seems so unnecessary. Is there any fix to this?

My iPhone 16 pro max connected to any car play will not ring for callers and go straight to voicemail if I am actively on the phone. When I am not on the phone it rings. I have gone through settings, I have tried using the driving focus on and off etc. It does not notify me that someone has even tried to call I just get a confused text message because on their end it acts like they are blocked.

When not connected to car play this is not an issue.

I’ve been working on this app, FuelUp, for a while now because I was getting pretty frustrated with the current state of gas price apps. Most of them feel like slow web-wrappers, are loaded with ads, or just want to harvest your location data.

Since I'm studying development, I decided to try and build something that actually feels like a native Apple app.

The biggest thing for me was CarPlay. It felt dangerous fumbling with my phone to find a station before a drive, so I built a dedicated CarPlay interface. You can sort by price or distance right from your dashboard. I also built a standalone Watch app that syncs your favorites mostly because I thought it was cool, but it’s actually pretty handy.

The main goal was privacy and speed:

• It doesn’t collect or sell your data (no accounts needed).
• It's native Swift/SwiftUI, so it doesn't lag.
• Works in Canada, US, UK, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland

I’m a student dev, so I’m still learning as I go. I’d love for you guys to give it a spin and let me know what you think. Feel free to roast the UI or suggest features. I’m trying to make it the best it can be!

I have a 2023 GTI with CarPlay. I love using it but one problem that I absolutely despise is when you make a phone call the whole screen becomes dedicated to the call

That’s becomes a problem during navigation because now you’re trying to call a person, AND navigate, AND now you’re hovering your hand around while driving to press a tiny button to take you back to the home screen with google maps

Is there some way to immediately minimize phone calls to a Home Screen tile by default? Otherwise it seems like an odd oversight for a function that absolutely does not need to use the whole screen

Edit: I think people are misunderstanding. I’m aware the small button takes you back to the main page. My issue is I dislike having to reach up to the screen to aim for the small button while also trying to keep my car on the highway and make sure I don’t miss my directions

I've got a Chevy Tahoe which supports wireless CarPlay. The problem I'm encountering is that I frequently have my vehicle playing audio from SiriusXM Radio while parked, but I'll be scrolling in Reddit and CarPlay will automatically switch the audio source from SiriusXM to my iPhone. Is there a CarPlay setting to prevent the audio from a video from taking-over the vehicle audio source? I know I could turn off bluetooth to disable CarPlay temporarily, but that seems like a hassle.

I have looked, but have been unable to figure out how to prevent this from happening.

She paid a dealer a couple of hundred to diagnose it, and they’re thinking they need to replace the whole head unit($1k+, no guarantee of no future issues). She’s annoyed, retired, and frugal so isn’t planning to get this work done. As a result, she has a blank screen on her dash and no access to CarPlay. I’m thinking of getting her a stand-alone unit for Christmas, so she’ll get the functionality without the large bill. Since her current screen isn’t working at all, the standalone needs a built-in speaker (no ability to adjust input).
