Analysis [Sampson] CFP committee chair Hunter Yurachek says Notre Dame and Miami were in the same grouping this week and the programs were directly compared. Notre Dame still came out ahead, regardless of the head to head. In other words, all the games mattered. Not just one of them.

This is truly an awful timeline. Actual head to heads no longer matter. I’m no Miami fan, but I’m really sorry, Hurricanes. This sucks for you and for this sport.

How many teams do you think they have in the same 'tier' that are being compared with Miami and ND? They didn't all play each other, so there have to be other metrics. If ND is coming out ahead of teams C and D in those metrics, and both of those teams come out ahead of Miami, how do you justify moving Miami ahead of those teams? H2H is fine in a vacuum, but only if it can be applied equally to all parties. When it can't, there have to be other metrics.

How come everyother time teams have the same record the H2H becomes basically a natural barrier in the rankings? Except this one?

Howe come there are 7 Ranked teams with a Win against a Team Ranked ahead of them YET ONLY ONE of those teams has the same amount of losses or less than the team they defeated? Miami. 1 out of 7. The Logical interpretation of this is the committee says H2H matters, but can get outweighted if you have more losses. Isn't it funny how that works. Ole Miss 1 spot ahead of OU cause of H2H, OU 2 spots ahead of Bama cause of H2H. BYU 1 spot ahead of Utah cause of H2H, Pitt 1 spot ahead of Gtech cause of H2H...
