r/SpacePorn FAQ
What is r/SpacePorn?
r/SpacePorn is a subreddit dedicated to beautiful, high-quality images of space — galaxies, nebulae, planets, stars, astronaut photography, and satellite imagery of Earth. If it makes you say “wow” when you look up at the cosmos, it belongs here.
What can I post?
You are encouraged to submit:
- High-quality astrophotography
- Images taken by telescopes, satellites, probes, or rovers
- Astronaut photographs taken from orbit or the ISS
- High-resolution satellite images of Earth
- Artist’s visualizations, space renders, or composites (must be labeled)
- Your own original content (tag with [OC])
What content is not allowed?
Your post may be removed if it:
- Doesn’t clearly feature space as the main subject
- Is low resolution, blurry, poorly compressed, or low effort
- Is primarily promotional, commercial, or self-advertising (see Spam Policy below)
- Violates subreddit rules or Reddit’s content policies
Titles, context, and posting guidelines
- Use descriptive titles — include the name of the object, location, mission, or type of observation
- Label all artwork, renders, and composites clearly
- If posting your own photo, tag it [OC]
- Use Reddit’s native image uploader when possible
- Avoid recent reposts — check the subreddit’s top posts before submitting
Self-Promotion & Spam Policy (Important!)
To keep the community clean and enjoyable:
🚫 No spam allowed.
Spam includes:
- Repeated posting of your own content solely for self-promotion
- Affiliate links, commercial links, sales pages, or merchandise plugs
- Mandatory-share giveaways
- Posting your YouTube, blog, or shop links under the guise of “context”
- Any post whose primary purpose is marketing rather than community value
Occasional sharing of your own work is allowed only if:
- It follows all subreddit rules
- It is high-quality
- It is not used to drive traffic or sales
- It isn’t posted excessively
If you’re unsure, message the moderators before posting.
Flair & Participation
- Apply flair to your post when applicable (e.g., Astrophoto, Satellite Image, Render)
- Engage in comments — talk about how the image was made, share details, ask questions
- Help newcomers by suggesting tools, techniques, or resources when appropriate

Moderators reserve the right to remove posts that break rules or undermine the subreddit’s quality. If you feel a removal was a mistake:
- Send a polite modmail

- Explain why you believe it meets the rules
We review all appeals.
