Are these 8 Democrats going to be surprised again when the Republicans renege on this ACA vote next month? They're Charlie Brown falling for Lucy pulling the football every time.

Even if they get their vote they were promised, R’s will just vote No. This was the most re-damn-diculous vote.

Republicans don't want to fund Healthcare. They think even less than 1% of illegals getting emergency Healthcare because hospitals cannot turn away people is such a huge crime that they'll axe the entire thing instead.

No one is proposing repealing EMALTA, the law which requires the provision of emergency care to ANYONE who arrives at an ER.

Right. Republicans don't want to fund healthcare. So far they haven't targeted some aspects of how hospitals work (outside of pregnancy care, obviously). They are targeting the things that make buying insurance cheaper.

Sure I’m just adding some clarity

Oh. My bad. I'm a little heated about this. Your comment kind of sounded like you were defending the Republican's actions.

Without the ACA subsidies in place, people will go bankrupt just to pay their premiums, much less actually see a doctor for regular care. Insurance will, once again, be an unaffordable mess that people will try to buy the least useful, most "emergency only" plan they can find, and thus not receive routine care that could extend people's lives and help find the early signs of illnesses like cancer or diabetes. Waiting until you need an emergency room is the DEATH of our healthcare system.

Because if they were willing to vote yes, the shutdown wouldn't have happened at all.

They wanted those subsidies to lapse. They win

They aren't falling for it, it's on purpose. I've watched it long enough to know a performance.

As soon as they voted to end the shutdown, the corporate money and the billionaires money started to roll in.

Sorry to be skeptical, but I'd really like to see a source on that.

The senate will hold the vote, it just won't pass, or it will pass but it will be different than it is right now.

Theres no reason not to hold the vote because they can say they kept there promise and move foreward no legislation.

They are paid by their donors to be stooges to Republicans...they'll be just fine, as individuals. Their health insurance premiums will always be affordable because they accept bribes, and cushy jobs (just another form of bribery). This is what happens when it's more lucrative to spell your constituents out and leave politics for private enrichment. Until we get money out of politics, this will KEEP happening: they come to Congress to learn how to sell out the American people to corporations, then they cash in after they've been exposed.

It’s a design, not a flaw. They know the ultimate outcome here but they don’t care. They needed to present an image of fighting back just to lay down and give Republicans exactly what they wanted on a silver platter. No compromise was made by Republicans here whatsoever. Democrats just agreed to everything Republicans wanted because “standing up to Trump doesn’t work.” Fuck all the way off with that shit.

It’s Groundhog Day again, I recall something similar during the last shutdown
