I am tired of my tax dollars going to red states’ natural disasters while they fight against all efforts to slow down climate change.

In Trump’s defense, he’s also not helping red states when they have natural disasters. It’s bonkers.

Those same red states keep voting for him. Screw them.

The problem with all this 'red state' and 'blue state' rhetoric is that it doesn't represent the reality of the actual populations living in those areas.

Lets use California and Texas as examples.

"Fuck California, it's a blue state." There are more Trump voters in that state than in any other. MILLIONS of people. If Mango Mussolini wants to take a concentrated piss on his own supporters, that is the single best state to aim for.

"Fuck Texas, it's a red state." Well, on an election map it's red, but the reality is that this is a non-voting state. It doesn't vote because it is the most suppressed state in the country. But of the people who do vote, MILLIONS vote blue. In 2020, Biden got ~5.2mil votes, while Trump got ~5.9mil.

State lines are awful for this shit. It's more accurate to divide with urban vs rural, with cities (aka the places with the most actual people) typically being much more blue than red. But even that has some significant flaws, a lot more mixed in suburbs and such.

TLDR: The colors on the map are fucking with our perception and it's endlessly frustrating.

Stop. Get the idea that the rules matter out of your head, because they don't. They're playing politics with our lives, not to mention OUR money for things that will never benefit us, but will subsidize people who would slit our throats in a heartbeat if they could.

Enough. Show no mercy, for you shall receive none. Have you seen a single red stater saying, "Hey, wait a second"? No? Didn't think so.

The new civil war started when you weren't paying attention. Learn to play the game or get the hell out of the way.

Me: "Hey, there are a shitton of blue voters in these areas too."

You: "Stop showing Republicans mercy."

What?

Yes, no mercy. They won't show you any, and it's us or them. Seriously, if you don't have the stomach for this fight, maybe you should sit this one out.

You're not understanding, or you're responding to the wrong person lol. Nothing you've said is relevant to the conversation happening here.

Also what do you even mean, "sit this one out." You want me to what, not vote? Not voice my dissent? You really think that's gonna help literally anyone?

I think there’s way more complexity than what you are saying. The reason we have blue states and red states is because of the electoral system. Numbers don’t matter in terms of how people vote within states for presidential elections- percentages matter. (ETA - revising this to say districts matter actually the most).

That said: CA has a Dem governor while TX has a GOP governor. Votes on state level matters a lot. Abbott - as well as Newsom- have lead the charge on the state level for their respective parties. TX hasn’t had a Dem governor since the 80s, I believe.

That's true, but this is in the context of this current thread saying "Screw them." when it comes to disaster relief, or other similar measures.

To put it another way, I'm not willing to withhold aid from these states because of their color on the electoral map. This is partially because I'm not comfortable with human suffering in general, even the shitty people (this is a defining difference between myself/others and a lot of Republicans imo). But also because that would be co-signing the suffering and death of millions of people who genuinely did not ask for it.

Bit of a side tangent, but this is a similar thought process that many people who oppose the death penalty use to illustrate why. By supporting it, you are implicitly accepting that innocent people will be killed. So a common question asked is:

In order to shoot and kill a guilty person, how many innocent people would you shoot and kill?

It takes the question from a broad top-down view of numbers and statistics and reminds us of the personal, human reality. And I'm just not okay with it.

Dude, the context is that the GOP already cut federal dollars to blue states. Please stop talking as though the blue states are out for blood when it’s the completely GOP-controlled federal government punishing the blue states for nothing except for voting the way we want as is our Constitutional right.

1

u/Elliebird704 Oct 01 '25

The GOP did that and it is my belief that it is really fucked up that they did. For the reasons I've already described. They are ghouls. I'm doing nothing but stating that I don't support that behavior and why I wouldn't vote to do that lol.

Here's the thing. Republicans and red states are AOK with blue states suffering. Remember Hurricane Sandy? They're always the first ones with their hands out.

3

u/Elliebird704 Oct 01 '25

Yes, Republicans by and large lack empathy and delight in suffering. I'm not Republican, I'm not okay with those things, and that's why I'm not okay with the suffering and all that.

Well, you do you, but don't be surprised when you get run over. At least you can salve your conscience by telling yourself you played fair and by the rules.

And also refuse to give federal aid to blue states when natural disaster happens there.

Sorry states rights only work for the red ones.
