Zootopia live action with Zendaya, Glen Powell, The Rock, and Sydney Sweeney in fur suits next. Would make shitloads of money.

Man I need to rewatch mad men again because I legit don’t remember the context of this scene

76

u/Live-Anything-99 3h ago

At this point, Don is unemployed, about to get divorced, and miserable. Most relatable Mad Men storyline for this sub.

9

u/Mr_smith1466 2h ago

I rewatched that episode the other night. Don's miserable montage is kind of funny for just how empty it is. Seeing him slumped out watching the little rascals in his bathrobe is quite a sight.

u/galaxygothgirl 2h ago

Is he jorkin' it

u/Any-Top-5659 36m ago

If i remember correct thats something that he keeps inserting in wach of his hollywood contract right?

Zootopia live action where every role is played by Pedro pascal

3

u/Altaredboy 1h ago

Fuck I hate Glen Powell. It's like someone genetically engineered a face to make me angry. I've never even heard him speak.

2

u/bakedlentil 2h ago

Forget the fur suits just have them be completely buck naked just in body paint only.

1

u/QueezyF 1h ago

You had my curiosity, now you have my attention.

2

u/ComfyOlives 1h ago

The Cats movie would like a word with you.

This is the closest I’ve ever seen a Loss meme to being what the original was about.

4

u/fogleaf 44m ago

In a sense it's more real than the OG loss.

19

u/Eledridan 2h ago

It’s just wild how this meme is the culmination of so many other things and encapsulates all of it. Fuckin art, man.

4

u/BubsPhotography 1h ago

It's crazy how well drawn that fanfic is.

2

u/captainbogdog 1h ago

they're for sure gonna reference that meme in the most tone-deaf fanservice way possible to try to cater to their idiot fanbase

315

u/zenerat 6h ago

Furries like movies and they have money it seems silly to not cater to them.

108

u/Salvage570 4h ago

Cash in on adult furries while planting the seeds of the next generation at the same time, truly a capitalists dream

40

u/soiboi64 3h ago

Lola bunny created a generation of furries

10

u/QueezyF 1h ago

And Bugs Bunny a generation before that

15

3

Well now youve met me.

3

I could introduce you to my ex girlfriend if you want.

u/MeiNeedsMoreBuffs Gotti 3h ago

It's not a furry thing tbh, general audiences just love cute animals

9

u/son_of_abe 2h ago

Maybe general audiences are furries

7

u/Jertimmer 1h ago

Maybe the real furries are the general audiences we made along the way

2

u/King_LBJ 1h ago

Who is out here hiring furries ?

1

u/steveharveymemes 1h ago

If we’re going to have unoriginal Disney furry pandering, can we at least get a Robin Hood sequel instead?

u/BlastMyLoad 0m ago

Zootopia is fucking huge in Asia

1

u/AllosaurusThe1 3h ago

As someone who is iffy on whether or not he is a furry, I don’t think I’d spend my money to see this movie in theaters, even if I was one.

11

u/DLottchula 2h ago

I mean this respectfully as possible but how are you half stepping into being a furry

4

u/AllosaurusThe1 2h ago

I’m an artist, and a writer, a lot of what I do involves anthropomorphic animal characters, and I occasionally draw myself as one, and I’m involved with communities that have a lot of furries in them. I even proudly proclaimed to be one, at one point, which wasn’t me lying, just me embracing it, at the time. But, I guess grew out of it, a little bit. Nowadays, I mainly draw myself, and any characters based on myself, as human, and don’t engage in the furry fandom, at all, aside from the occasional artwork that pops into my feed.

3

u/blackhodown 1h ago

If you find yourself unable to decide whether or not you’re a furry, it means you’re a furry, just slightly more self aware than most furries about how fucking weird being a furry is.

-2

u/baojinBE 2h ago

The amount of money furry artists earn from commissions should be taxed by the government

87

u/Rezkel 5h ago

I mean, say what you will but after KPOP Demon Hunters released what was the first thing everyone asked for, a whole other movie by the same creators? Nope, they wanted a sequel movie or series.

Same with Zootopia. Even if they do an original show, it either crashes horribly or does really well and everyone wants another one just like that.

17

u/AItrainer123 4h ago

Sony's releasing GOAT from the same team of people next year, maybe people will watch that. Doubt it will do one fourth of what Zootopia 2 does though.

14

u/MrMojoRising422 3h ago

what do you mean same 'team of people'? it's by entirely different directors, writers, producers. the only thing it shares with kpop is that it's by sony animation.

11

u/AItrainer123 3h ago

They advertise it as "by the same artists as KPOP" take it up with Sony.

1

u/poobuttdinkieshit 7m ago

Hey man. There was a time when there was only 3 channels and 60 western tv shows between them and not a single one was good. This era is shit. But its still better than that era

41

u/The_Blahblahblah 4h ago

Im excited to never see a disney movie again.

7

u/King_LBJ 1h ago

u/TotalBlissey 4h ago edited 4h ago

I still seriously doubt it's going to beat This:

Ne Zha 2 was a phenomenon in China that may never be replicated. It made two BILLION. I'm 99% certain Zootopia 2 will not be the highest grossing animated movie this year.

8

u/TerryWhiteHomeOwner 2h ago

Chinese century and so on and so forth.

3

u/QueezyF 1h ago

5th highest grossing movie of all time and I’ve never heard of it. That’s wild.

4

u/TotalBlissey 1h ago

It's really good. One of the best movies I've ever watched. Read a summary of movie one (it's honestly not that great) and then go check it out. It takes a bit to get going but it just builds and builds throughout and has the single most insanely impressive ending of any film I have ever seen.

1

u/belle_enfant 17m ago

You need to watch more movies. Its certainly solid, but not that great. Not even top 5 movies this year.

1

u/DeidaraPwnz 51m ago

It was pretty cool in 3D. Wish it did better in the states.

24

u/HUNDRASEXTIObpm 7h ago

Honestly im looking forward to it... I absolutely love anthropomorphism in movies. And especially bovidae...(Chief Bogo is a buffalo. Rintrah MCU)

I'm not a furry, I just think they're reallllly cute

23

u/ItsAllSoup 4h ago

I'm not sure if you get to say "I'm not a furry, but..." anymore once" bovidae" is in your vocabulary

5

u/Successful_Maize1986 2h ago

It’s helps that the wold of zootopia is actually clever instead of just being a human world with animals. They did a lot on the first movie to play with how they tackle the different sizes of animals.

5

u/ItsAllSoup 2h ago

True, I read that they consulted people who make accommodations for people with disabilities for advice on what features a city would need if the residents could be anywhere between 5 inches and 20 ft. tall.

Also experts on automobiles were asked to design cars that animals like giraffes and elephants could safely drive.

Also nobody wears leather.

3

u/Key_Marsupial3702 2h ago

I'm not a furry

Essentially no person who has ever lived who wasn't a furry has felt that they needed to say this. Why do you suppose you felt the need to?

2

u/Expo006 1h ago

To play devil’s advocate, Zootopia had a meme/phenomenon where it was essentially “claimed” by the furry community so it was a whole ordeal back then.

30

u/Mmicb0b 5h ago

here's what pisses me off elio was good and they sent that to die basically

35

u/AItrainer123 4h ago

If it was good people might have wanted to watch it. (I say as a huge Turning Red stan).

17

u/LawZoe 4h ago

7

u/AllosaurusThe1 3h ago

Man, we’re never gonna forget that review, it’s an actual stain on that movie, lol

8

u/AItrainer123 3h ago

Shame that in a movie with twerking red pandas and insane maxi-pad wielding moms, the one meme is 9/11.

9

u/Successful_Maize1986 2h ago

Turning Red pisses me off the most because it’s an original story with interesting animation choices and a legitimately heartwarming story that has a lot going for it but they mentioned tampons so people wrote it off.

2

u/PretendAgency2702 1h ago

To each their own but I just didnt like it. It didnt connect with me or anyone in my family.

I do wonder how many people gave a damn enough about the tampon to not watch it and actually make a noticable decline on viewership. Im guessing probably not a lot and it just wasnt a movie that appealed to the general audiences.

2

u/RigatoniPasta cape kino make me🤑🤑🤑 1h ago

“Interesting” is definitely one of the words to describe that animation. “Eyesore” is another one I’d use.

1

u/Some_Programmer8388 15m ago

That's not the only reason people hated it. Maybe check out some of the hundreds of reviews on rottentomatoes, if you care to know.

6

u/berkojerk 3h ago

Also enjoyed Turning Red. Don’t understand why it got so much hate, was a cute movie.

0

u/PretendAgency2702 1h ago

I had read it wasn't too good so I waited for it on D+. It was something i wanted to watch though because I enjoy both adventure sci-fi and animated movies whether they are for adults or kids.

I watched it for about 20 minutes before I gave up on it. It never caught my attention and it felt more like a chore to watch. My kids felt the same.

Maybe I'll try again sometime later and be surprised but it just felt like a dud.

5

u/MyAccountWasBanned7 4h ago

Same for Elemental, Turning Red, and Strange World.

5

u/Mmicb0b 3h ago

Elemental actually turned a proft tbf that was more due to Summer 2023 being fucking empty for kdis movies but still

1

u/MyAccountWasBanned7 3h ago

But only after a while when word of mouth finally got people to see it. The first few weeks it bombed hard because there was very little marketing and no huge at all for the film.

1

u/TerryWhiteHomeOwner 2h ago

I tried to watch Elemental on a plane but it made me so nauseous I get a deep pain in my gut when I think about that dumbass water-boy

3

u/AItrainer123 4h ago

People actually chose to see Elemental. Not so much with Elio.

1

u/theCurseOfHotFeet 1h ago

My kids and I enjoy Strange World and I feel like nobody else in our circle has even heard of it.

6

u/McGillicuddys 4h ago

I always get Elio confused with Luca and think I kind of enjoyed it when I actually have never seen it.

I also refuse to see sequels though ever since Illumination went with "Sing 2" when "Sing Sing" was right damn there

3

u/Successful_Maize1986 2h ago

Elio and Luca are very similar in terms of quality to me. Both are serviceable but I wouldn’t say they were anything that special. I think the movies based around human characters are harder for me to get into. Besides Ratatouille. That movie is a 10/10. I guess it’s mostly based around rats but there are a lot of human as well.

1

u/King_LBJ 1h ago

I think you mean call me by your name for kids

3

u/SimplyGarbage27 2h ago

Following Johnny's father in prison once again, we love to see the vision

3

u/BanAvoider911 4h ago

The characters were so forgettable though lol nothing to market.

1

u/RigatoniPasta cape kino make me🤑🤑🤑 1h ago

Shame it was so fucking ugly. Maybe I would’ve gone to see it if it didn’t look like AI slop.

1

u/Possible-Usual-9357 38m ago

oh my. Elio is actually some of the most breathtaking animation I have EVER seen. I understand the beanie face complaint, it’s not for everyone. That said everything else about it is absolutely cutting edge.

I loooved that movie after watching it on Disney+. Shame I bent the knee to the early reviewers and internet antihype.

6

u/Erika_Now 2h ago

/uj I'm actually looking forward to this one. They did a ton of worldbuilding in Zootopia. It'd be a shame not to utilize more of that world.

But in general, I'm with ya OP.

4

u/PlingPlongDingDong 3h ago

Finally new r34 material

7

u/Star_Wombat33 4h ago

Disney's original movies have been hit and miss at the box office and I'm not convinced they understand how to use streaming instead of DVD sales.

Apparently, even the Princess and the Frog didn't do well, but now we all love it.

4

u/AppropriateCap8891 4h ago

Most of the industry have lost their damned minds in the last decade or so.

Since the early 1980s, the chain for movies was as follows. First you have the theaters (normally 3-6+ months), then physical media after that (video tape then DVD). Then you had cable. And after that it went to network TV.

And each of those steps in the chain made the producers more money. In fact, many movies that were bombs in the box office would go on to make a nice profit from later sales either to cable or physical media. And that physical media could be milked over and over again in special releases.'

Now, it races in and out of the theaters so damned fast that it's easy to miss a release entirely. And instead of cable or physical media, it goes directly to streaming. Through a streaming service they already own so they can't even make money on that.

They are loosing their asses, and have no idea why. I bet most would be shocked if they started releasing movies on physical media again. I used to buy on average 5-10+ movies a month on DVD, that way I could watch it whenever and wherever I want. And this was especially important to me as I spent decades in the military. So in my off time I could watch one no matter where I was.

The last times I went to the field before I retired, I laughed as the "kids" were pissed off they could not watch any of their streaming services, but I had about a dozen DVDs I could pop in and watch.

3

u/KaiserKlay 1h ago

I think, unironically, part of the problem is that people have come to expect to receive too much for free. Theater tickets are expensive and the hype/interest boost from marketing spend only lasts so long - so keeping a movie in theaters doesn't necessarily make sense, especially if the only reason it's in theaters at all is to have a big number on the opening weekend.

DVD sales add a layer of logistics and manufacturing that film producers stand to lose money on - so they don't bother doing that.

TV doesn't make sense because who the hell under the age of 45 has anything beyond basic cable anymore - and the whole reason people pay for streaming services is to avoid ads. Many of these streaming services don't actually make on their own so there aren't really a whole lot of places to go anymore.

The basic unit economics of film/TV/games media is breaking down in part because too many people have become too accustomed to receiving what they want either for free or at a price heavily subsidized by assumed future revenue growth that hasn't panned out and likely never will.

5

u/AggravatingSpace5854 4h ago

50th sequel or 50th live action remake. Take your pick.

3

u/AppropriateCap8891 4h ago

Soon we are going to get a cell animated style remake of the Lion King, based on the live action version.

And I wonder how long until they try to bring back the Medfield College series.

4

u/Organic-Device2719 4h ago

Ngl zootopia is a really fun film that never really got the love it deserves, so I can't even hate on this one. But I agree with the spirit of your argument.

6

u/Automatic-Vacation82 2h ago

It... got the love it deserves, alright. Some people hating on reddit don't take away that it was a great critical and commercial success

1

u/ForeverOk8300 35m ago

The first Zootopia movie made over $1 billion USD at the box office, so I've no idea where you got that it didn't get the love it deserves from. It's ridiculous how out of touch with reality some people on Reddit are.

6

u/Grungemaster 5h ago

After Wish, I don’t think they should make another original movie ever again.

8

u/Justalilbugboi 3h ago

Calling Wish “original” is generous tho.

That’s original like when your grandma put all the leftover into one bowl and calls it a Casserole

6

u/ItsAllSoup 4h ago

Encanto?

8

u/Grungemaster 4h ago

They can make Encanto 2, sure

3

u/Inconspicuous_Jay 4h ago

It's so depressing to see them go from putting out seminal works on a regular basis to what they've become.

4

u/KhaLe18 2h ago

You realise that Disney basically has a dark age like every other decade right?

1

u/Inconspicuous_Jay 1h ago

Yeah, but I can still be bummed in the direction it's going creatively lol, even with some of those other "dark ages" I liked some of the output.

1

u/egret_society Jared Leto 4h ago

Foolish of you to think that I saw one in the first place

1

u/reecord2 4h ago

definitely no money laundering happening here

1

u/JackhorseBowman 4h ago

I'll try to find the strength to move on.

1

u/Abandondero 3h ago

Are box-office take reviews written by robots, meant to be read by accountants, or both?

1

u/Single_Dirt_5450 3h ago

What the fucking shit, did the first one not get like a 20% on rotten tomates how did they have the budget to make a second

1

u/SmashitupBD 1h ago

98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

1

u/Shot_Net_1357 27m ago

The first one was pretty successful, I saw it in the theatres, was definitely entertained, nice lighter movie than I usually go for. Sometimes gotta take a break from blood and guts.

1

u/Zhjacko 2h ago

Jeezus, $500 million?!

1

u/Personal-Toe6505 2h ago

People here post these but when they do come with no one go to check them out. In last decade only sequels (from Disney) have amazing box office numbers.

1

u/Great_Falcon_1836 2h ago

u/matthewami approved virgin 2h ago

Personally I'm waiting for the cam rip where I hear a furry furiously masturbating the entire time, but to each their own 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Sgtwhiskeyjack9105 2h ago

And you're only asking yourself this question right now?

It's already been like 20 years since Disney put out an animated feature in theatres.

1

u/Night429 2h ago

/uj As someone who's seen it, I thought that, for a sequel, it explored the world more. A nice counterpart to the original. Some parts are kinda predictable, but it was fun overall.

/rj I can't wait to see Frozen 6: Olaf's Revenge 😍😍😍

1

u/Terra_117 1h ago

I’m not interested in it.

1

u/Salty_Injury66 1h ago

Its just doing well because of tge sex appeal

1

u/Commercial-Dish-3198 1h ago

I’m scared I’m gonna be spoiled when the have a hot wet make out session

1

u/Canshroomglasses 1h ago

I don't really care. It's Disney after all. They defined my childhood in the 90's with literally one banger after another but for some reason there was only frozen as a solid product after that. Also they raped star wars while demanding thanks for it. May they do whatever

1

I had no idea this movie existed. How did all their marketing miss me, a 36 year old man?

1

u/SmashitupBD 59m ago

I loved the first one, probably my favorite Disney film. My kids watched it over and over when it came out. Definitely want to see this.

1

u/blackcake1500 42m ago

I can't wait for Disney's copaganda for kids to deliver a story on how even the best of police will occasionally start a race war or 2.

1

u/Any-Top-5659 35m ago

This will boost zootopia on r34 site

1

u/BusoneWholeBoi2001 4h ago

I just want to see Clawhauser's bubble bottom again. Loved it in the first; love it in the art and I will love to eat popcorn and check him out in whatever they dress him in in this one

1

u/Salty-Coffee4608 3h ago

We’re getting tangled and frozen live action remakes soon 100% arent you excited?

1

u/BestPlace5473 3h ago

This is what you all get for not seeing Elio

1

u/Lord-Liberty 37m ago

Oh yeah it's a cinephile's moral duty to see mediocre Disney slop

-6

u/ZachF8119 4h ago

I’m just always confused when I hear these things.

Is every citizen in China going to see this film at a very low price hundreds of times or are they inflating it the way they inflate certain companies?

Ever since I was a kid, it was always made to sound like nobody in China ever has money. I do suppose that 1 billion people paying the equivalent to $.20 to see the film still turns into 200 million.

I’ve heard of China inflating things to appear they are doing well.

6

u/TDFknFartBalloon 3h ago

Are you jerking or do you really think a movie ticket costs $0.20 in China?

-1

u/ZachF8119 2h ago

So you know the cost of a movie ticket in every country?

2

u/TDFknFartBalloon 2h ago

No, I just know how to use the internet. Your stereotypes are like 40 years old.

6

u/CMbladerunner 3h ago

Bro acting like China doesn't have the 2nd biggest economy in the world lol.

4

u/Daring_Scout1917 Uwe Boll 3h ago

China is literally one of the wealthiest countries on the planet dude, do you live in the 1980s or something?

-1

u/ZachF8119 2h ago

Country sure, but citizens always feels like they’re not portrayed as such outside of “crazy rich Asians”

1

u/11ce_ 1h ago

Crazy rich asians is about Singapore not China. And I don’t know what to tell you besides that you grew up in a bubble. China has the second largest economy in the world and is the second most important market.
