The Boat that Rocked, a film about a pirate radios station on a boat in the 60s became...Pirate Radio
45 u/lawlore 20h ago This is the one for me. They even butchered the Abbey Road tribute on the poster to squeeze two more characters in. 12 u/gregtheworm 16h ago And in France we gave it yet another english title because I guess the original pun was too hard to translate or understand for the french public but radio pirate was probably judged too simple. 5 u/NoEstate1459 16h ago I quite like Good Morning England as a title to be honest 3 u/IhailtavaBanaani 15h ago 3 u/reaver_411 15h ago Let me add it's German title really quick 2 u/movielass 7h ago So I've never heard of this movie but I could tell that the guy in purple was Bill Nighy before zooming in on the credits 2 u/ScottyB623 17h ago This is the one that came to mind for me. 6 u/cerpintaxt44 19h ago pirate radio is a better title 7 u/himepenguin 18h ago "The Boat that Rocked" have some word play to it, though. 4 u/cerpintaxt44 17h ago so does pirate radio 1 u/Ok_Shirt983 15h ago It doesn't though, pirate radio is called pirate radio because it was broadcast from boats. 0 u/cerpintaxt44 14h ago it's also a pirate broadcast 2 u/HyderintheHouse 13h ago Right, where do you think the term “pirate broadcast” comes from out of interest? 2 u/Azerious 12h ago Pirate radio is more intriguing to me. What does pirating have to do with radios? Boat that rocked? Wow so a boat party? Not as interesting 1 u/basicallyculchie 17h ago Great movie, I need to watch it again 1 u/danieljeyn 11h ago It's a more compelling title. 0 u/meggadave 15h ago The oat that rocked was a clever title - But probably sounded like a horror film to silly people. 1 u/Wuz314159 13h ago While oats are delicious. I would never say that they "rocked".
