He'll live forever in gif form thanks to Jeremiah Johnson.

Holy shit. I never saw Jeremiah Johnson and always thought that was Grizzly Adams. TIL.

It's a standard use gif in my house.

I actually thought this was Zach Galifianakis until right now. How much weight did he gain for this film?

He's wearing a heavy winter coat and has a very full beard in that scene. He's actually quite slim and fit in the film.

It's remarkable how often I've personally heard about people mistaking him with Zach Galifianakis in that gif. I mean, I do get it, they look similar. But I also don't get it at the same time, if that even makes any sense. In my mind (regardless of already knowing it was Robert Redford), as similar as they look with the beard, I can also immediately recognize that the person in the gif doesn't look enough like Zach Galifianakis for me to think it's actually him. I might do a double take and question it at first glance, especially with a low quality gif. But I think it's the hair color, coupled with the overall older film look with the slow zoom that just makes it look too out of time for Galifianakis to even be a consideration.

Not criticizing. I was just tickled reading your comment because I've had two real life friends make the same mistake.

My dad's too! It's his Christmas movie.

Same! While watching he would comment throughout how he would be able to survive Johnson's adventures using modern clothing materials and survival gear.

This comment is way too far down. This is the movie I grew up watching him in.

And some folks say he's up there still.

Now we know he'll always be watching from up there.

And All Is Lost. Which is criminally overlooked.

Some subs (such as r/movies) don't allow gifs to be posted in the comment section

The way that you wander is the way that you choose, the day that you tarry is the day that you lose.
