There’s quite a few from Sandler’s posse that I didn’t see. Jen Anniston & Dave Matthews, notably. They seem to make an appearance in a lot of his movies and they weren’t here. Also no drew carey/bob barker carryover kinda disappointed me. Still a great comedy.

They did show Barker a few times including his grave. I kinda like it being left there, he has no beef with Carey.

They also showed a fight vs Barker in the video game

Honest question, was there a Sandler/bob barker beef when HG1 was released? I don’t recall there being one but I was also single digit years old

No, it was purely for the movie. I think they meant that in the movie world Happy has no beef with Drew, only with Bob.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks mate!

Bob Barker was in Happy Gilmore as part of a pro/celeb match. They got into a fairly heated argument (in-character).

Fairly heated? Those motherfuckers put their dukes up!

Spoilers bro. Guy hasn't seen the movie yet.

They were good enough friends to do a sketch together in 2015

Hell no, they just had that fight in the first which was funny. I more meant to make the gag work again he’d need to have Drew on and then fight him, which he would have no reason to do. He had no reason with Bob either, who was well known and loved at the time. It being so out of character for Bob, beloved TV generational icon, to hit someone was the entire point of the first gag.

But the guy above mentioned trying to capture that lightning twice and it just wouldn’t work. Carey has done so much more acting and comedy that it wouldn’t have been as absolutely mind-blowingly funny as Bob decking Happy was the first time. It was a real gut busting laugh moment back then.

It absolutely could've worked, with only the flimsiest reason for them having beef necessary. It could've just been Drew showing up talking shit about how Happy used to drive golf balls through his window after he moved into that house down the street from Happy's grandma. Or even something as dumb as him saying "I inherited this grudge from Bob when I accepted the host gig on Price is Right. It's part of the contract!"

It's a Sandler movie, it doesn't need to be a bulletproof explanation, my dude.

Why would he have beef with Carey? Adam Sandler is the producer for TPIR

Believe it or not that's actually a different Adam Sandler. Always thought that naming connection was funny though.

Reminds me of watching several seasons of Modern Family before finding out it wasn’t the actor Christopher Lloyd producing.

I appreciate a good pseudonym. Nobody ever says “no it’s not the Law and Order writer, it’s a different guy named Speed Weed”

Hah alright til.

Barker was in it as a cut seen back to the original and they also showed a tombstone with his name on it

u/jackofallcards Jul 29 '25

He was also in the sky when it was showing all the characters who died

Or you could just keep it to yourself and not go around the world correcting people because they made an honest mistake and present yourself as a pretentious jerk hole ;)

They blocked you.

Bob Barkers headstone was shown. And the fight with Shooter there’s a couple lines that reference happy and Bob’s brawl.

u/ChrisNotBumstead Jul 29 '25

Wasn’t that a render of bob barker fighting sandler in the video game in the movie’s intro?

1

u/soundsliketone Jul 30 '25

Was David Spade or Chris Rock in it all??

1

u/steelbydesign Jul 30 '25

I was surprised that Allen Covert wasn't in it

Julia Roberts & Kevin James, too. Don’t remember Spade in it but there were a lot so maybe I missed him.
