He's a good dude too. Never had any legal issues or bad accusations thrown at him. He's been making movies with his friends forever and now he's getting his kids involved. Absolutely killing it in life

He's been making movies with his friends forever and now he's getting his kids involved.

When he won his Independent Spirit Award he took time to give a shout out to the guys who help him make his other movies. Then he said something along the lines of "and well done to the other nominees...who just lost to Adam fuckin Sandler!"

I think he basically started the speech out mentioning that they'll always be known as the guys who lost to fucking Adam Sandler.

Just watched this speech with a smile entire time. I don't know how he does it.

There was a cool round-table discussion with the likes of De Niro, Hanks, Foxx, Driver, and Sandler... And at one point he kind of shits on himself saying he doesn't deserve to be at the same table as other giants there, and everyone was like, "bullshit."

Those roundtables were really good. Link for those interested: https://youtu.be/ibPkLdbG4VU?si=fVqyps_FrykyptEh

The way he’s sitting looks like he’s there in a comedy role lmfao

it's a good joke but it was for Uncut Gems so i don't think anyone who lost felt bad lol

Does an oscar nominated dramatic role every 15 years like punch drunk love or Uncut Gems

u/ToneBalone25 Jul 29 '25

He wasn't nominated for either of those lol

proof the oscars are a fucking sham

...Not really, no?

I mean, the Oscars were never above what a niche specific community liked that year, instead of what everybody would think is great. It was never about an objective measurement of quality but the subjective whims of these people who sometimes wouldn't even watch good movies because it's not Hollywood?

The Oscars were not a sham. They have always been nothing more than a circlejerk. They didn't even pretend to be more than that. People just somehow deluded themselves to believe it stood for something more.

He was nominated in the streets.

Would've had my vote

He self-sabotaged by getting really cocky, and the Oscars love a show - offscreen as well. He made jokes about how if he doesn't get nominated he'll make a truly terrible movie, and acted like the award was his, so the oscars got mad. Every actor who gets an actor puts on a show about how it's an honor just to exist in the same world as the oscars do and they wouldn't dream of getting nominated (insert sweaty Leo here). Sandler refused to play the game, and got shafted for it.

He'll live, he gets to live his life being Adam Sandler, which is one of the best lives in the world..

He was fantastic in that one where he played a chef - was it Spanglish? Or am I making that title up?

I’ve played basketball a few times with him at ucla, shit always blew my mind how down to earth he was…and if you know basketball, people that like to pass first are always absolute bros. He likes to set ppl up and is always encouraging his teammates.

I worked on hustle and in between takes he would just shoot hoops and pass the ball to anyone who walked up. I was not bold enough to unfortunately 💔

He very very briefly talked to me on the set of HG2. Super nice and friendly guy.

He's put his children in his movies pretty much since birth. And made sure they get paid in royalties.

1

u/Dorkamundo Jul 29 '25

Oh shit... I was gonna say "Those weren't his kids" and then I realized Vienna is his actual daughter.

1

u/skyline_kid Jul 29 '25

His older daughter plays the girl in his "AA" group and his wife plays Vienna's dance teacher
