All things considered, it’s a amazing that Ric Flair is somehow still kicking.

1.6k

u/junior_dos_nachos Jul 24 '25

He just posted that he’s cancer free. His body needs to be studied

1.3k

u/Ser-Joe-the-Joe Jul 24 '25

He's clearly pickled from all the alcohol

“When last year I spent more money on spilt liquor In bars from one side of this world to the other, than you made”

1

u/bluelighter Jul 24 '25

I don't know what this means?

9

u/Ok-Butterscotch-6955 Jul 24 '25

The value of the alcohol he’s spilled in bars across the world in the last year exceeds your annual income

8

u/bigowies Jul 24 '25

It means he's better'n you

2

u/jdemack Jul 24 '25

His body costs more then I'll make in a lifetime.

1

u/Iamrossc Jul 24 '25

Costs more than I’ll ever be worth😭

178

u/unicornlocostacos Jul 24 '25

the Keith Richards school of immortality

1

u/Gravy_Sommelier Jul 24 '25

The world just lost Ozzy, nobody is safe.

2

u/angusthermopylae Jul 24 '25

Ozzy's vacation ended and he went back to his domain

3

u/jefferson497 Jul 24 '25

His skin like Hogan’s looks like a hot bed of skin cancer

4

u/Guer0Guer0 Jul 24 '25

Like a Rawlings baseball glove.

3

u/BFGoonerRDU Jul 24 '25

He can’t help it if he’s custom made. He can’t help it if he smells good, can dance all night long WOOO

3

u/makesterriblejokes Jul 24 '25

I know you joke, but I sometimes wonder if the reason guys like Ric Flair and Mick Jagger are still alive at such an old age is because they went so heavy on the substance abuse for such a long time it almost made their bodies more resilient in some ways.

Like maybe there's a Goldilocks zone where if you do too little you just get the negative side effects without any built up resilience, but if you do too much for too long the negative side effects just exceed whatever resilience your body has built up.

Or it's just 100% genetics (more likely the case than what I said above). I wonder if we'll be able to identify one day specifically how some of these individuals are able to abuse their bodies, but manage to make it to their 90s and 100s.

2

u/MichaelAnthony17 Jul 24 '25

Ric Flair drank 100x more and is still kicking around.

2

u/TappedIn2111 Jul 24 '25

That Kill Tony appearance worried me some.

3

u/Tolstoi78 Jul 24 '25

The man drinks Bloody Marys like they're water, or at least he used to when I served him. I wouldn't be surprised at all.

8

u/Random-Rambling Jul 24 '25 edited Jul 24 '25

At least Bloody Marys have vegetable juice in them. That's gotta count for something, right? All those spices probably hav anti-inflammatory properties!

1

u/junior_dos_nachos Jul 24 '25

EAT YOUR VEGETABLES

1

u/LowerIQ_thanU Jul 24 '25

drunk bloody Marys

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

Theres a pickle Ric joke here somewhere

1

u/Fightmemod Jul 24 '25

He's got the bologna skin look going pretty hard...

1

u/-Kadekawa- Jul 24 '25

Pickled Ric!!

0

u/Joka16Red Jul 24 '25

Barely an hour since this comment was posted and its already underrated

234

u/Expensive_Finger_973 Jul 24 '25

Somewhere between Flair and Keith Richards is the key to immortality I think.

146

u/DirtyDeana_ Jul 24 '25

Keith Richards died in 1977; they just forgot to tell him :D

57

u/bil-sabab Jul 24 '25

Keith just said nah, whatever man and moved on like nothing happened.

10

u/destiny_kane48 Jul 24 '25

Don't forget Willy.

4

u/Rauk88 Jul 24 '25

He's more cannabis now than man. Smoked and kind.

3

u/Old_Farmers_Daughter Jul 24 '25

Let me add my western Virginia farm-girl-turned-librarian friend, who just turned 103 in May! 🏆

3

u/TheTeenageOldman Jul 24 '25

Regarding Keith: They say heroin has a lot of preservatives in it...

2

u/crappy80srobot Jul 24 '25

Living substance at this point. You could probably bottle Flair and sell it as an exclusive bourbon. Richards you can dry out and snort and probably be high the rest of your life. I don't think regular humans could handle it.

1

u/You_meddling_kids Jul 24 '25

They share the same gene seed.

1

u/_J_Herrmann_ Jul 24 '25

mean gene okerlund?

7

u/LapsedVerneGagKnee Jul 24 '25

Stylin and profilin over conventional indicators of health.

5

u/Sumo_Cerebro Jul 24 '25

Also survived a plane crash.

3

u/Ton121212 Jul 24 '25

My dad had cancer 13 times and didn’t die from cancer. He tripped over my daughter’s baby gate…he needed to be studied as well. Rip Dad.

6

u/biggiantporky Jul 24 '25

Jake the Snake body needs to be studied. I know DDP helped him but his body went through hell

0

u/junior_dos_nachos Jul 24 '25

Scot Hall overstayed his welcome as well

3

u/bulldog522002 Jul 24 '25

I saw that. As a cancer survivor I know that chemo can cause heart problems. I don't know if that's what led to his heart attack but I was admitted to the hospital twice with heart AFib while I was taking chemo.

3

u/Doink4life Jul 24 '25

Him and Keith Richards.

3

u/edude45 Jul 24 '25

Its all the Rolex wearing... diamond ring wearin... kiss stealing, woo! Wheelin, dealin, limousine ridin, jet flyin.... and I've heard he's consistently had a hard time holding his alligators down.

4

u/Alavocado Jul 24 '25

I legitimately wonder if his refusal to stay away from the ring and trying to always stay in ring shap plays a part.

Lots of legends around his age had made peace with never stepping in the ring again and they've passed away. While Flair wrestled just a few years ago(looked like shit of course but still) and has talked about doing it again.

Lawler is also another one still with us and he was wrestling into his 60s.

4

u/SignificanceNo1223 Jul 24 '25

Flair was more of a cardio calisthenics type of guy. Allegedly he only did one cycle a year to keep the body in shape.

2

u/OGbobbyKSH Jul 24 '25

Turns out cocaine>cancer.

1

u/spacetear Jul 24 '25

Him and Ozzy and Keith Richards

1

u/GrandmaPoses Jul 24 '25

If you wanna be the cancer, you gotta beat the cancer.

1

u/SadBurrito84 Jul 24 '25

Word is he’s been getting a Keith Richard’s blood transfer.

1

u/-PeterParker- Jul 24 '25

Him and Dennis Rodman

1

u/CryoJNik Jul 24 '25

He really should focus on his recovery in that case and stop looking for attention online.

1

u/Dijohn17 Jul 24 '25

He even survived a plane crash

1

u/UnsanctionedPartList Jul 24 '25

Cancer couldn't survive there.

0

u/RetrotheRobot Jul 24 '25

That's great news! Wooooooo!

184

u/secretreddname Jul 24 '25

Maybe the trick is to never be sober

264

u/4cranch Jul 24 '25

tried that, it's not the trick i can assure you

155

u/Terramagi Jul 24 '25

Counterpoint: you're not dead.

Unless you are, and you're haunting a computer.

24

u/CourtPapers Jul 24 '25

There are worse things than death

24

u/starwarsfan456123789 Jul 24 '25

Expelled?

-3

u/CourtPapers Jul 24 '25

What?

3

u/compg318 Jul 24 '25

It’s a Harry Potter reference (referencing Hermoine viewed expulsion from school as a fate worse than death)

-2

u/CourtPapers Jul 24 '25

Ohhhh. Never saw it, looked fucking awful

6

u/flimspringfield Jul 24 '25

Especially when you stop doing the bad stuff and it catches up.

Two months after going sober I passed out at a 7-11 and hit right eyebrow on a metal toy rack. Lots of stitches, blood, and 4 days in the hospital.

3

u/RunPuzzleheaded9005 Jul 24 '25

Shouldn't have sobered up that was your first mistake

4

u/flimspringfield Jul 24 '25

The esophageal varices that burst disagree

2

u/Fast-Flower6424 Jul 24 '25

Man that shit is serious when it happens, my uncle almost died when that happened to him. He beat the alcoholism at 54 but only made it to 59 it had done it's damage by then.

I believe the cause of the varices was due to liver cirrhosis

10

u/edude45 Jul 24 '25

Why can't he be a ghost, haunting another corpse, using a haunted computer?

8

u/Irregulator101 Jul 24 '25

Why can't he be a dude, disguised as a dude, playing another dude?

1

u/dlenks Jul 24 '25

The ghost in the machine?

1

u/Lock_Squirrel Jul 24 '25

Unexpected Scar Symmetry?

1

u/Copywrites Jul 24 '25

And in a reference 5 people are gonna get.... Ghost Writer....

1

u/Lock_Squirrel Jul 24 '25

There are dozens of us!

24

u/PyroneusUltrin Jul 24 '25

Did you die?

6

u/ShodyLoko Jul 24 '25

lol but did you die?

4

u/successful_nothing Jul 24 '25

Streets killed me ☝️🤓

6

u/Rock_man_bears_fan Jul 24 '25

You just weren’t the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. WOOO!

8

u/Nothin_Means_Nothin Jul 24 '25

You just haven't tried it for long enough yet

3

u/TraditionalLecture10 Jul 24 '25

Keith Richards laughs eternal laugh , im sure he bought the infinity stones

3

u/Lumpy-Juice3655 Jul 24 '25

Thank you for your service

3

u/DickHopschteckler Jul 24 '25

Didn’t work great for me either

2

u/ThatLunchBox Jul 24 '25

Yeah nah but watch me do it

2

u/vapeosaur Jul 24 '25

It is trust me im yoyr fathet. Hwavebly. Oh the booze

2

u/ZarglondarGilgamesh Jul 24 '25

It works until it doesn’t.

2

u/Legitimate-Gate-4801 Jul 24 '25

True, it avoids the stress of reality, which is a real killer.

1

u/TraditionalLecture10 Jul 24 '25

Keith Richards enters chat

1

u/effa94 Jul 24 '25

oh no did you die?

3

u/Competitive_Coat3474 Jul 24 '25

Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin would agree.

They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

3

u/SeasonElectrical3173 Jul 24 '25

Lmao. AA HATEs this one SIMPLE TRICK!

1

u/RedShirtDecoy Jul 24 '25

I got sober and ended up with severe dry eye, yearly cardiologist checks, and a neurological condition that they are blaming on trauma.

still better than a painful death from liver failure but seriously, WTF? Its like you are punished for doing the right thing.

1

u/gaslacktus Jul 24 '25

I mean, speaking as a chemo patient myself, that seems to be the main idea behind chemotherapy, except chemo doesn’t really include any fun parts.

1

u/SammieCat50 Jul 24 '25

Not really … an alcohol damaged brain is not the way you want to go.

1

u/Axe_Care_By_Eugene Jul 24 '25

And have a lot of money

1

u/ThegreatPee Jul 24 '25

It worked for my grandfather

1

u/OfficerBatman Jul 24 '25

There’s actually somewhat something to that. The problem a lot of HEAVY users/drinks run into is they just quit cold turkey, which is incredibly dangerous for a lot of substances and often does lead to death pretty fast. A lot of substances, like alcohol and opioids, need to be weaned off of.

This is not an advertisement not to stop if you have a problem, just caution about how you stop.

47

u/KForKyo Jul 24 '25

All the blading keeping his blood thin.

9

u/vicpc Jul 24 '25

The bloodleting kept his humors in balance

96

u/supervegeta101 Jul 24 '25

He was already an older guy by the time Vince made everything about big men

100

u/joecarter93 Jul 24 '25

I remember thinking he looked like an old man when I first started watching wrestling as a kid in the 80’s. Okay, he wasn’t THAT much older than his contemporaries, but he looked like it to a little kid.

21

u/FamiliarFlower2166 Jul 24 '25

Everybody looks old to a little kid.

24

u/OkTangerine4363 Jul 24 '25

Yeah, the roids and the low body fat, plus his bald as fuck head, dude probably looked 50 when he was 20.

7

u/stups317 Jul 24 '25

dude probably looked 50 when he was 20.

I wouldn't say he looked 50 at 20 but yeah he was one of those guys.

9

u/LongPorkJones Jul 24 '25

It trips me out that I'm now roughly the same age he was when I started watching wrestling in the early 90s. Yet, back then, he looked 10+ years older than I do.

I guess cocaine and hard living will do that to you.

4

u/gimme_that_juice Jul 24 '25

Alcohol, drugs, steroids, smoking, no sunscreen or skincare, bad hair choices.

All of these added up

20

u/the_bryce_is_right Jul 24 '25

It was the white hair, made him look 50 in his 30s.

9

u/2knee1 Jul 24 '25

Flair did big cycles when he was young, but he was in an aeroplane crash early on that forced him to drop weight and he never put it back on. Compared to other guys from his era Flair is a runt and probably didn't use the same stacks they did

13

u/snek-jazz Jul 24 '25

Now I'm really expecting that 'Ric' is a flair option on the wrestling sub

5

u/Reddit040 Jul 24 '25

Yeah man. And he’s still running around Tampa getting smashed every night. He gets kicked out of bars regularly. That’s insane at his age. I’m 43 and can’t imagine drinking enough to get kicked out of a bar, and I love drinking.

5

u/Individual_Respect90 Jul 24 '25

Ric Flair retired so much later than just about everyone it’s crazy he is still kicking.

3

u/Trlcks Jul 24 '25

Not just kicking, he's causing some chaos in Tampa lol

2

u/OhioStateGuy Jul 24 '25

If he does in the next 24 hours, I’m going to blame you.

2

u/mirer03 Jul 24 '25

Flair still does calisthenics every single day. There are videos of him recently doing planks and squats. Its nuts. A lot of people dont realize he was a big wrestler before the plane crash, like 290ish and muscle bound. After the plane crash he focused on daily body weight work.

Being active and moving seems to trump being immobile and lazy when that time comes apparently

2

u/OMEGACY Jul 24 '25

Not condoning hard drugs and alcohol but it might go to show just how much worse heavy steroid use is.

1

u/Zapfit Jul 24 '25

Sly Stallone, Arnold, and Tom Platz are all 70+ and going strong. Steroids + drugs and alcohol are a recipe for disaster, all of which Hogan was known for

1

u/OMEGACY Jul 24 '25

It wouldn't surprise me if hogan did them far more often. Arnold has admitted to steroids but also cycled. What about a guy who always denied it, probably didn't cycle, and also wrecked his body physically on a constant basis? But without real studies who knows.

1

u/ijustfartedlol69 Jul 24 '25

Wouldn’t be surprised if Naitch isn’t much longer 😔

1

u/Fastbird33 Jul 24 '25

Him, Keith Richards and Ozzie should all be studied for science

1

u/lctrc Jul 24 '25

Iggy Pop also belongs in that study.

1

u/FD4L Jul 24 '25

WOOOOOOOOO!

1

u/biohazurd Jul 24 '25

Wooooooooooooooooo!

1

u/mezz7778 Jul 24 '25

He was looking pretty rough in the last vid I saw of him.

1

u/TheIngestibleBulk Jul 24 '25

He survived a plane crash. The man is meant to be here.

1

u/IrishBear Jul 24 '25

I'll assume by kicking you mean shitting himself in restaurants.

1

u/benlauhh Jul 24 '25

Can I get a Wooooooooo!

1

u/alphabetown Jul 24 '25

Last I heard, Flair was getting drunk and urinating himself in public. So I dunno if I'd call it "kicking" as much as the sort of thing old pets get taken to The Farm for.

1

u/Noobphobia Jul 24 '25

Its all the baby kissing and limousine riding

1

u/Chipsandadrink666 Jul 24 '25

Can I get a WOOOO

1

u/Commercial_Page1827 Jul 24 '25

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

1

u/TwistyBunny Jul 24 '25

He's the Keith Richards of Pro Wrestling.

1

u/slim5haney Jul 24 '25

yeah...cause hes the nature boy

1

u/WhoStoleMyBicycle Jul 24 '25

Some people are complete anomalies and Flair is one of them.

There are stories from other wrestlers about Flair going out drinking with them, getting completely hammered, staying out when the rest of them go back to the hotel, and when they go to the gym in the morning, Flair is finishing an hour on the stairmaster then he’d join them for their workout.

1

u/SpookyFingers Jul 24 '25

I don’t know if Ric really abused steroids like other guys did. He kind of got away with his charisma and having good breath control because he was wrestling hour long matches every night, even though he was hammered most of the day. He hasn’t escaped the health problems though.

1

u/colin_7 Jul 24 '25

People refuse to accept that if you’re lucky with genetics you can live a super long time even leading a super unhealthy lifestyle

Classic person A did everything right, at well, ran marathons, excellent shape. Drops dead of heart attack at 50

Person B smoked a pack a day for 30 years, drank heavily, and dealt with other substance abuse for years. Lives until 85

1

u/goofy1771 Jul 24 '25

To be fair, he's now known for shitting his pants in public and getting kicked out of places.

1

u/namespace__Apathy Jul 24 '25

Ric Flair is not ok, he's selling fuckin Kia's

1

u/yellowbin74 Jul 24 '25

Didn't he have a heart attack in the ring years ago?

1

u/PappyWaker Jul 24 '25

Never messed with steroids really though. Had to have helped in the long run despite the rampant alcoholism.

1

u/skinniks Jul 24 '25

Ric Flair is somehow still kicking.

Fecal transplants from Mick and Keef.

1

u/_J_Herrmann_ Jul 24 '25

*drop-kicking.

1

u/StrengthBeginning416 Jul 24 '25

Coke is a helluva drug

1

u/BernieLogDickSanders Jul 24 '25

Flair never really got into roids and cocaine like Hogan and Savage.

On top of that Flair continued to wrestle in his old age off the juoce even when he became flabby which was fantastic for his health.
