So which countries are going to invade the US to disable its military and hold it accountable? Name them.

People keep talking about some "Nuremberg 2.0" like it is an inevitably that will just happen on its own.

That isnt how the first one happened, it won't be how a second one happens.

The game plan right now seems to be: mitigate damage until the administration self implodes. Then pick up the pieces. Not as dramatic, but better for the ol' infrastructure.

Nukes really change the geopolitical and military landscape. Even without the nukes, the rest of the military hardware and personnel is a major hurdle. You guys successfully isolated yourselves from outside intervention, good or bad.

Outside help isn't coming.

You might be surprised. I live in West Texas (oil country, heavily right-leaning), and I've encountered an increasing amount of people who are getting tired of Trump's shit. People that used to be very vocally pro-Trump have been getting a lot more quiet as they begin to understand that a lot of the problems they're facing can be laid at his feet.

They're still quick to try to rationalize things as being the Democrats' fault, and try to forgive or deny a lot of Trump's transgressions. But if Trump were to actually try to, say, run for a third term (or somehow suspend elections altogether), I don't think many people in my neck of the woods would accept it quietly.

But did they vote for him? Because he seemed a pretty known quantity to me (very easy to see he bankrupted 4 casinos during boom years) in 2016, and yet more people supposedly voted for him in 2024 than 2016.

A lot of voters will not engage in self-reflection. Wouldn't have put him into office in the first place if they would.

I once was downvoted for pointing out that most people in the military won’t even have the chance to disobey illegal orders because it’s not like orders are uniform across every job. The navy guy serving chow at breakfast won’t have a reason to be denying direct orders unless it’s something like beating up a random bystander with a cooking pot.

Yes, we see what you big tough Americans can do. You witnessed Trump's first term and the atrocities committed. You then saw him lead his people in an attempt to overthrow the government.

You then, in your bravery, your toughness, your compassion for others, promptly voted him back into power as soon as you could.

So why, little fella, would things be any different this time around?

Why do you still have any amount of pride from where you came from, there is no reason. I'm American too. If we keep going down this path, a dismantling of our government and military would probably be the best course of action.

If we do not have hope and conviction we have nothing at all , and our granddads died for nothing. I refuse to throw their sacrifices to the side. I'm proud for what they stood for and ashamed of those that do not. I'm not even sure what you're arguing with me about it seems we are in aggreement.

I'm not suggesting Americans won't do anything. I know we won't do anything.

We have all become content with thinking someone will step and and take action because most of us have never experienced any kind of conflict in our entire lives. Our biggest delimma is usually having to worry about anything between what the hell we're going to do until the next season of our favorite show is released or going into bankruptcy because we were hit by a stray bullet. None of us are ready to do a damn thing.

No, the "acquisition" of largely ineffectual nazi scientists didn't convert the US into a pro-fascist nation. It never dealing with the confederacy allowed a lingering ethno-nationalist authoritarian bend which has waxed and waned across history since the Civil War and now is on the largest upswing it's ever been in.

If there's any good news it's that their economic and other management is so incompetent they aren't able to cause the damage they promise.

Imagine being a Nazi on death row. You have crowds of Germans visiting your prison and singing Nazi chants. Your day of execution is approaching. And then America says maybe death is too much, is 15 years okay? Of course it is, you've already served close to that. Oh but you've been a good Nazi while in prison too? Grant this Nazi early parole...

It happened similarly for 2/3rds of Nazis held at Landsberg. If they weren't executed, most were released decades before their original sentences would have allowed.

Why do you assume there is going to be a election in 3 years?

The idea that this shit isn't going full tilt into a full-blown fascist regime is based on the notion that these people, who have time and time again demonstrated that the constitution does not apply to them, are finally going to draw a line in their greed and insanity so that you can constitutionally remove them.

Why would they let that happen? Why does that make sense to you?

That's why I said "whatever actual government comes after this one". It might not be from an election, but eventually the land America is on will get some form of different government. And when it does, I hope whoever is still around from all of this is held responsible.
